>Russia has also sent France a puppy as a sign of solidarity against terrorism, after French service dog Diesel was killed during an anti-terrorism raid last week.
>France intensified its bombing on Syria, and has send its aircraft carrier and several frigates with cruse missiles to Syria
>Vladimir Putin welcomed the news and told the Russian navy around SYria to work with their French counterparts as "close allies".

Well, the good thing when you have military bases on other continents is that you already have what you need for a military operation. But obviously Russia don't know about that.

France has military bases in Jordan, UAE, Qatar with dozens of jetfighters, and much more all over Africa.

The planes that bombed Syria the past weeks were from the bases in Jordan and UAE

No indeed, but we could say the same thing about the French "patriot act" voted in February after the Charlie Hebdo killings.
The funniest thing is that at first, there was a law who allowed the government to take control of the press and the justice thanks to the emergency state. Hollande finally decide to remove it, but many congressman, including a lot of socialists, were in favor of it.

Yes. The Charles de Gaulle have two K15 reactors for a total power of 61,000KW. The K15 can be also found in our nuclear sub like Le Terrible.
But there is not such thing as "a sub reactor" or a "Aircraft carrier" engine. As you need is a reactor enough small to fit in a ship.

Bullshit, the CdG had loads of problems in its early years because the French didn't bother to design a different reactor for it. You can cut corners and get away with it (like France did), but it's expensive, the carrier spent a lot of time maintenance and money is spent repairing it.

There were big problems with propulsion, which was partly because the thing had to built around submarine reactors. Another problem is the CdG must be refuelled every 7 years, which is terrible if you only have a single aircraft carrier because your enemies can time their attack to a date when they KNOW the CdG will be sitting in dry dock for several months.

>The carrier also faced tremendous problems with its propulsion system initially. The ship had issues with vibration, and indeed during one well-publicized incident, the propellers literally snapped. The problem was traced to faulty manufacturing—there were air pockets in the cast copper-aluminum alloy. Worse, the blueprints for the propellers had been lost in a fire, which meant that the ship had to be refitted with hand-me down screws from Foch and Clemenceau. That cut her speed down from twenty-seven knots to about twenty-four knots—which was unfortunate since she is already considerably slower than her predecessors which steamed at thirty-two knots.

>Charles De Gaulle was eventually refitted with new propellers in 2007 during her first refueling. The Charles De Gaulle’s advantage over conventional carriers is that she doesn’t need as much logistical support compared to her predecessors due to her nuclear propulsion. However, the French opted for a reactor that needs to be refueled every seven years. By comparison, an American carrier is only refueled once during its fifty-year lifespan. The refit also added a host of improvements that allowed the French to finally exploit its full potential. But even then, Charles De Gaulle suffered another embarrassing electrical fault in the propulsion system in 2010 that cut her deployment short—literally to one day. At this point, however, most of the bugs seem to have been ironed out.

>your coal engined aircraft carrier
Yeah you can laugh at us as much as you want, but at the end of the day Britain will have a continuously available carrier until 2070 because we are building two and keeping one in reserve for when the other needs to come in

Moreover the British carriers are much less maintenance-intensive and it can be refuelled at sea

It's the French poster saying no one does more than France and the USA despite the Dutch carrying out more airstrikes against ISIS. That is insecurity.

It's also true that using submarine reactors which have to be refuelled frequently is a problem when you only have one carrier and none in construction.

Something else people conveniently forget is that it was involved in the 2011 Libya strikes - until it had to be withdrawn 3 months before the operation finished on 31st October. For urgent maintenance.

Smart bombs are much more efficient than dumb bombs though. Most dumb bombs dropped in war don't have any strategic effect. It barely even worked in WW2, and they had to use thousands of heavy bombers to have any real effect.

The cruise missiles Russia are using (including the air-launched ones) are the real threat. The dumb bombs are just for show and propaganda essentially.

smart bombs, to be utilized effectively, also need combat arms on the ground to direct to targets. Barring that, they need an extremely in depth and entrenched intelligence network embedded inside the country and hierarchy of the opfor.

The bomb doesn't find the targets itself.

???

It doesn't

Putin is just serving his interests, which happen to be similar to ours, so he works with us, for now. This will not last to be honestly honest familiy
>>
>>51055912
>which happen to be similar to ours
French government also wishes for France to be flooded with refugees from the ME? Cool, didn't know that.
>>
>>51055912
>happen to be similar to ours
don't see reasons to complain about that coincidence

They do since the beginning of this year. France has equiped its frigates and submarines with cruse missiles from MBDA.
Pic related was the first shot from the Aquitaine frigate, part of the fleet escorting the Charles-De-Gaulle to Syria.
>>
Do you think this is damaging ISIS at all? I sure hope so. They claim that all of these strikes are hitting abandoned areas though. I hope Russia keeps it up.

Not a frigate but a destroyer, HMS Defender. It will defend Charles de Gaulle from aircraft or missiles. There was also a British destroyer escorting the US carrier before it left the area.

>The ship is reportedly capable of controlling the airspace across an area of 150,000 square miles (twice the size of Portugal) whilst being able to defend a task group of ships against attack from the air, either by aircraft or missiles.

Unless ISIS has suddently become a major military power, i really don't see the point...unless they're afraid ISIS will send underwater kamikazes to sink the CDG...

You don't send a carrier anywhere without protecting the shit out of it.

Plus midget subs are a thing.

We actually had to make it a crime to operate a submarine that doesn't belong to a nation so we could charge these guys when we catch them. Since when they're caught they just send the sub straight down and boom, no more evidence.
