once, when I was on magic mushrooms, I came to the realization that English was the only actual communicative language in the world. All other languages were fake; literally gibberish.

Foreign languages were actually an invention of foreigners and ethnic minorities who felt awkward around Americans. It was sort of like an inside joke between foreigners.

Maybe two Asians would spot each other at a predominately white party. They might start speaking "Chinese" to each other (which they knew to actually be Chinese-sounding-gibberish). They'd pretend that they understand each-other and are having a fun conversation. This way they could both fake being socially competent and interesting at a party. They could also pretend not to speak English if they didn't want to talk to someone.

The weird part is that I'm Latino, my parents are fluent in Spanish, their parents don't speak any English, and I'm almost fluent.
