Stop having weird delusions about immigrating to Russia, it's a beaurocratic process like any other quasi-civilised country.

You go there, you apply for permanent residency, you get a job, repeat this process for whatever few years is required to be elligible for citizenship, apply for citizenship and you're done.

Your degree is worth shit, any programming related education in Eastern Europe is worth shit due to market oversaturation.
But since you're American you could potentialy land a job in some international corporation.

Learning Russian is hard (like any other slavic language), you'll never learn it properly for the rest of your life - you'll always be a foreigner in Russia.

Don't expect to find friends, it's not about you being American, but about you being a foreigner.

Moscow and (to a lesser degree) St. Petersburg are incredibly expensive places to live in.

Banter is not inherent to Semitic culture. It's an Indo-European thing, with the emphasis on European. As far as I know, only Persian and to some extent Turkish mystics have had good banter in the Muslim world.
You need to have a culture oriented towards facing truth and coming up with the tragic so that it's so painful your brain is tricked into humour as a defense. That's Western humour. It's inherently dark, even cruel.
Semitic culture doesn't care about what's true in the same sort of 'truth being out in the world' sense. For them, truth is above, and in holy ideology. Humour doesn't need to enter at any point.

USA is weird in the sense that it's The West most fully realised in technical opportunities (expanding out into a frontier, having free reign for science etc.), but discourse is so fucking Puritan and humourless. Secular Americans are still like this. Every white person is kind of a puritan in that sense. Actually there is something similiar here.
Recently I have been to al-sukhne refugee camp to deliver blankets and heaters and other donations with my group there.
It's very far from the city, and isolated.
Basically we saw that lots of pre-teen aged girls were already married, so everybody was shocked and were like "wtf how is this even legal?" (Age of consent in Jordan is 16)
