Hi Americans
I might be going to Milwaukee in the fall 2017 to study.
I know nothing about the place. I find that somewhat intriguing as I wouldn't mind going somewhere which is less "mainstream" America.
If I go, I'll be studying at Marquette University.
What to expect? How is the state, the city and - if anyone knows - the university?

What are your other options? Milwaukee kind of sucks. Awful weather, very segregated, and not the many interesting things there. On the plus side, Marquette would be fun for going to the basketball games. You're also pretty close to Chicago.
But really, if you want to study in WI I would rather study in Madison

You chose a boring city. Milwaukee is known for being "an uptight conservative shithole were you can get a night in jail for holding a gram of weed".
If you still have the option to change your location and you want to stay in Wisconsin, go to Madison. If you have the option to choose other states, go to California and live in either Los Angeles, San Diego or Berkeley.

This, pretty much. American universities are cool in the sense that they are like little villages that exist in the middle of a larger area, so the immediate area around Marquette is where you'd be spending most of your time, and that will be cool, filled with other students, restaurants, bars, etc.
Milwaukee as a city kind of sucks, though. It's not awful, but there isn't really anything of note and it's poor and run down. The weather obviously shouldn't be a problem for you, but I agree with the Spanish guy; look and see if you can go to Madison instead.

A huge international scandal is unfolding in Greenland right now. The Danish allowed the Americans to build nuclear powered bases and hide up to 600 nuclear warheads under the Greenlandic ice sheet during the Cold War and never admitted it to Greenlandic authorities. Now it has become clear that the waste from these projects will soon come out of the ice with tens of thousands of tons of dangerous radioactive waste. The Greenlandic government has threatened to secede from Denmark and sue Denmark and USA in United Nations courts.
>Project Iceworm was the code name for a top-secret United States Army program during the Cold War to build a network of mobile nuclear missile launch sites under the Greenland ice sheet. The ultimate objective of placing medium-range missiles under the ice— close enough to strike targets within the Soviet Union— was kept secret from the Danish government. To study the feasibility of working under the ice, a highly publicized "cover" project, known as Camp Century, was launched in 1960.

Two months ago, a committee in charge of organizing the future separation of Greenland from Denmark was founded. The Greenlandic PM has said that Greenlanders are "sick and tired" of Danish claims that "Greenland can't live without Denmark" which are "coloured by Danish interests".

We are a welcoming country that despite our general self-hating sentiment has great features that makes our country one of the best if not the best country to move into
1- We welcome everyone, we spaniards don't have any national exclusion sentiment, anyone that feels spaniard and lives here is a spaniard for us. You will make good friends pretty easily that will help you integrate in our precious country
2- Spaniard language is easy and most people already is familiar with it. We will help you with it and people won't blame you if you speak it wrong but will help you to communicate correctly
3. We are a very heterogeneous country that fits the cultural necesities of everyone. Do you love tiny villages in between the green mountains? Asturias is for you! Do you love modern cities, beaches and ocious time? Mediterranean coast if for you! And any prototype you love IS in Spain!
4. We are not rich, but it's easy not to be poor. You will find a job easily, spanish unemployment rate is high because much spaniards are lazy. This is a good thing for you. With very little effort you will be better than the rest and a better choice for a company, shop, enterprise or the state. And don't worry if your salary is a bit low, Spain is a much cheaper country than its european counterparts and you'll always find places to buy things incredibly cheap
5. Spaniards are a collective society, involve in local associations, join some clubs, you'll soon have the family you never had and start living a happy life
