De nieuwe iPad is absurd! Ik kocht de eerste iPad op de releasedatum in 2010, vooral omdat het apparaat er gaaf uit zag, maar ik had het niet echt nodig. Tegen mijn verwachtingen in werd het al heel snel mijn meest gebruikte en geliefde apparaat. Als gevolg hiervan gebruikte ik het elke dag, meestal uren achter elkaar. Vooral vanwege de form factor van een boek en de touch screen functie. Daardoor was het gebruik prettig en makkelijk.
Een paar jaar later betaalde mijn werk voor een high end iPad, wat op dat moment een iPad 3 64GB was. Maar lach niet; dit ding bleek een geweldig device dat met vlag en wimpel geslaagd is zijn doel te vervullen, voor vijf jaar lang. De iPad 3 heeft de reputatie een behoorlijke bagger iPad te zijn, maar het ding deed toch wat het moet doen gedurende al die jaren en de batterijduur is nog steeds goed; ik kan de iPad de hele dag door gebruiken op een lading.
Dus nu komt de nieuwe iPad Pro 10.5”, waar ik een aantal jaar op heb gewacht. Dit ding is belachelijk. Het is bijna beschamend. Het is in principe de toekomstvisie die Steve Jobs jarenlang in gedachte had, maar dan in het heden. Een computer die je in je hand houdt en waar je zonder grenzen mee kan communiceren.
Aangezien ik gewend ben aan de snelheid, kracht en prestaties van het oudere apparaat is elk aspect van deze device wonderbaarlijk Het, scrollen, het geluid, hoe dun en licht het apparaat is, Touch ID!, de form factor, de heuse kwaliteit van het scherm….
Door het grotere scherm met de snelheid van 120Hz voelt het echt alsof ik de apps en het internet in mijn hand houd, en ze echt aanraak met mijn vingers. Het is een intiemere en meer gelukbrengende manier om technologie te gebruiken. En de hardware van dit jaar perfectioneert de doelen die Steve en Apple probeerden te bereiken met het concept van de iPad. Ik weet dat dit bericht lang is en nogal slijmerig over zou kunnen komen, maar ik heb echt het gevoel dat we toetreden tot een nieuw tijdperk en dat moet gevierd worden.

It is 19C here in Socal where I live. I was planning to visit Spain next year during the summer but now I don't think so. I nearly died when it was 33C in Texas, I can't imagine 40C. I absolutely can't stand the heat which is why I visited Japan during the winter. :(
