OP, even the animu and cartoon artists needed to learn how to draw realism before knowing how to exaggerate features while keeping proportion.
No doubt /ic/ is a shit hole at times, but if you're going to do anime, make it as stylized and detailed as your thread pic.

Unironically gesture. If you've watch the video on Yoh Yoshinari fixing someone's animation to make it more dynamic, you might understand what I mean. It's the subtle changes that make it really stand out.

Perspective,poses, knowing how to shade and color. Animation gives you the power to exaggerate features, so take advantage of it. I find cosplay references to be help with all their funky poses and shots.
