So I see this painting on the tv series Mad Men. A colourful impressionist cityscape and thought it would be a nice thing to put on my wall. I looked for years but couldn't find the artist's name. Forum queries remained either unanswered or led me on wild goose chases. I did some digging the other day and send an email to a stage prop leasing company in LA. Asking them if they knew of it. They said they didn't but gave me the name of another prop leasing company. I emailed them but they never answered. A day later the guy emails me back and tells me he found it and sends me a link to a low resolution image of the painting on this other leasing companies' website. I contact this company and after a lot of back and forward they say they will sell me a print of the painting. After weeks of waiting I am yet to hear from them and I am not surprised, I think they just can't be bothered. So I remembered a show I watched online about a town in China where the villagers paint authenticate looking copies of anything. So I got a price from them for $160.
Its frustrating when you are fixated on desiring to own something and can't get your hands on it. Not sure if its worthwhile pursing the China thing but it might be a means to the end. Its a shame those dudes in LA just don't give an arse.
