I want to get into drawing traditionally, but I don't know what I should buy to start out.
Which utensils, sketchbooks, and drawing boards are good for beginners?
>>2289904
It literally doesn't matter as a beginner. You're perfectly fine with a regular pencil and a stack of printer paper.
To start?
blank printer paper, bic pens, and the pencils you have laying around. A ruler wouldn't hurt to have as well. You seriously don't need an abundance of tools and what tools you will need depends on your goals and what kind of shit you want to produce.
Don't bother with a nice sketchbook, it'll just make you anxious to draw in it, and your first drawings will almost certainly be shit. Use supplies you don't mind wasting.

white smooth printer paper pad
any piece of wood

A three ring binder, 500 sheets of printer paper, a binder pencil bag, and pack of 2HB pencils. That is what I am using anyway
>>2289933
The fuck is a 2HB pencil?!
>>2289936
A no.2 pencil.

OP here. This is what I had sitting around my desk.

You're golden. Fuck around with those supplies for a while, find what you like between pencil and ink, and then look into alternatives once you're comfortable.
>>2289938
Well I wouldn't buy those because 2HB doesn't fucking exist. There is 9-1B, HB and 1-9H.
>>2289947
You are prety much set. Although when you run out of leads make sure you buy softer ones like 2B they are much better for drawing than the standard HB.
>>2289952
>doesn't fucking exist
It's incredibly common to see pencils with HB 2 written on them. They're standard writing pencils that you can buy in bulk fucking anywhere.
They're HB pencils in the grading scale, also called no.2 pencils, shortened to 2hb or hb2. They're not 2h's or 2b's, they're HBs.
You're splitting hairs when everyone fucking knows what no.2 pencils are.

Those will work just fine!
If you're dying to get some "professional" supplies I would highly recommend the pencils in the OP pic. They're soft and have a really cool side eraser, but they are pricey.
From the sketches I can see in your picture I'd advise you to work on your lines. Hopefully the chart I attached will help.

I'm gonna need to get a darker pencil

Those lines are better!
The pencil is fine for now, you just have to get used to controlling the pressure of it for lights and darks. It all takes practice anon.

I'd recommend using a normal pencil instead of the 0.5mm mechanical leads. You want something with a point instead of the weird inconsistent edge you get with those. Invest in a 2mm lead holder if you really want to go mechanical, but for now get some wooden ones brah.

Krita isn't bad, but who are we kidding, who actually pays for commerical stuff.
