Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, downsized to around 1000 pixels wide, rotated to the correct orientation, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one.

Trying to design a character. I'm not a furry, but a friend had an idea based off of a fuck-around sketch of an evil cat, and now I can't stop thinking about it.

-_- i didnt make this thread. i hope someone picked my image ironically. stop trying to rile up draw threads

I actually like it, it's decent. The form seems a little off (even to me) but it gets it's point across.
Though to whoever put the text over it, shoulda put in the lower left corner instead, so that it doesn't cover the art.
Is "muh style" a meme?
Is there a threshold where drawing a certain way, even if it looks like symbol drawing doesn't get called out because the person who drew it got good?
How do you tell the difference?
>>2503022
almost always, people who have a style utilizing 'symbols' that actually look good also know not to symbol draw. they can use their knowledge of how things actually look to make appealing symbols of those things
someone symbol drawing without any actual technique or acquired skill is usually very easy to pick out. it's a cliche, but you really do need to know the rules before you bend or even break them.

Here's your (you)
I've seen the occasional group chat, but would there be any interest in trying to pair people up for some sort of longer/more elaborate feedback process? Groups/threads are good at getting diverse feedback but sometimes it might be nice to be able to discuss things in more depth.
I just finished a four year degree (not art) at a shit uni and didn't have anyone I really wanted to keep contact with. Now I've got four months to kill before I can start an actually useful technical degree, and while I draw every day I don't really have anyone to discuss it with at the moment.
I wouldn't be opposed to talking to other people about their progress/ideas over skype, chat, whatever. I'm not a pro, but it could be a good opportunity to share what I know while getting the point of view of other amateurs or students who might specialize in other things. (So by that, I don't necessarily mean the feedback that already happens here - I'm thinking of a longer cycle than posting one comment and never seeing the person again, or shitposting in a group which essentially amounts to the same thing.) Crits, discussing tips/workflows, preferences, even collabs, heck, I'll take anything.
I get that this isn't /soc/ so feel free to tell me if I'm retarded. Also other people can post here if they're looking for artists to talk to, I guess.
So you wouldn't be opposed to having a friend with the same interests.
>>2502213
I'd like this, I always feel as if my art is never good enough and I really just want a person with a trained eye that I can show my drawings to
add me on skype - teais.delicious
I noticed that the two versions of this artwork has watermark in different locations so I did this.
Can anyone color the black and white section to match the rest? I also included a separate equal piece at bottom in case it is easier to color that way.
$30 ok? i have paypal

what an ugly picture. Shit needs to look realistic. garbage
How did you git gud at painting skin tones?
I'm assuming the picture is yours?
Anyway to summarize: people don't often use a wide enough range of tones when painting skin.
Highlights are not always warmer than the low lights, in fact usually highlights are COOLER and more grey than the actual color of the skin
There needs to be a wide variety of saturation as well.
The picture you've provided is very monotone and could use some more contrast in a few places.

skin is reflective, and you can see the blood underneath in some areas. So you get reds around the eyes, nose, and cheeks. You get yellows around the upper mouth and forehead because there's more oils around there. You get blues around the jawline.
Study pictures of faces at different lightings, be conscious of the colors you use in the environment and learn where different parts of the face tend to be closer to a certain hue.

If you're gonna post animation that isn't yours give source or state that it isn't yours.

Does /ic/ ever have trouble finishing a drawing?
How do you pull yourself through even when you have no motivation?
>>2501454
I don't. I basically only finish client work.
>>2501462
So your motivation is money. That would work for me too... If I had any completed drawings to show people what I can do...
>>2501454
I draw fanart whenever I'm bored.
Just found out about a program that seems a but over powered for basic shapes and perspective.
would it be bad if i relied on this program to finish art or anything? i have nothing to show though. seems to really help with photoshop. what does /ic/ think of this?
forgot to add the program name in main tittle......(Lazy Nezumi pro)
>>2502335
depends what you wanna do with your art. If you want to draw super tight and clean lineart that requires perfect accuracy, then go for it. However If you want to develop more natural looking and appealing line quality, you won't achieve that by relying on stabilizer / lazy nezumi too much.
Also that gif you posted doesn't seem to have too many practical applications for artists.
You still have to understand perspective.
It seems to just be a tool to make the process a lot quicker to do.
Go ahead and use it if you find it useful.
Though maybe make sure that you are actually understand what your doing before using this "crutch".
This program actually looks really useful. Thanks for letting me know about it.
Hey /ic/,
Was wondering if you guys had any thoughts or opinions on overrendering stuff. The majority of the work I do tends to be paintings, and I find that I often render everything within the piece to a uniform (excruciating) level of detail. While I do think this often gives results that are fun to get lost in as a viewer, I also find the time I spend rendering wall textures, individual strands of grass or wrinkles on somebody's clothes is considerable, especially when I could have spent it getting a head start on my next piece. Looking for varying thoughts and opinions on over-rendering stuff (is it good? Is it bad?) as well as examples of artists that have some sort of notable technique in this specific respect.
Pic unrelated!
>>2500878
>and I find that I often render everything within the piece to a uniform (excruciating) level of detail.
Your focal points should always have more detail than the rest of your painting, regardless of your preference of how much rendering you want to do. The more time you spend on the surrounding stuff, the tighter your focal points have to read for the image to work. Even if you look at some incredibly detailed master paintings, or those chinese guys who love to go crazy on rendering and details, you always see the hands, the face and other focal points to be pushed one step further than the rest.
>>2500896
Any suggestions on particular master painters or Chinese guys that love to go crazy on rendering that make good examples of this principle? Thanks for the info.

In the very particular style of realist painting you are talking about, yes. It's not a hard and fast rule by any means.

Hello, everybody. I'm not usually on 4chan, but I was wondering if anybody could give me critique on a short film I recently made for a festival. My apologies if this post isn't proper for this board.

my bad
That was pretty fucking cringy
I'm in dire need of extreme/creepy pose references, but can't find anything online. If anyone has anything i'd be very grateful.
Posting what i'v found.
>>2499890
I don't have much that fits what i'm looking for, so i'll probably post some pics that are just regular anatomy reference.
pic related is prob closest to the type of poses i'm looking for, but can't find anything. This is the closest thing i've found.
Basically refs where the model is turning and twisting and so on, or just posing like a creature.
I'm trying to improve my style by using finer lines. And this was my first real attempt on clothing based on a sample.
Do you like it?

Thanks so much! ^^
It's garbage. Read the sticky, don't make a seperate thread for your shit but post it in the beginner thread.
Two hours in, using nothing but photoshop and a mouse.
Constructive feedback please
>Constructive feedback please
1. Post in the beginner thread.
2. Construct the whole head. You obviously aren't confident enough to draw the features in proportion because you flat out didn't do it. That's probably because you didn't do a lay in and just started your shitty rendering.
3. Post in the beginner thread.
4. Get a tablet.
5. Post in the beginner thread.
6. Your coloring is muddy. Try painting in black and white to get an idea of value, skin tones are tricky and usually not that simple pink you think of it as in different light conditions.
7. Post in the beginner thread.
8. Learn how skulls look, it's more than that dopey potato shape.
9. Post in the beginner thread.
10. Learn what hard edges are, especially along the outside.
11. Don't make your own fucking thread.
12. Your nose is lopsided.

Its not finished but thank you anyway
>>2498817
>Its not finished but thank you anyway
You asked for feedback, you got it. There are problems with your process and knowledge that are obvious even before it's done, things you should have in mind long before you started to render.
