why are you making art and what is your goal?
personally i want to become great at art to inspire other people and have people recognise me to be good at something. i'm not aiming for an art job, but it's important to me that my art will be at least good enough to make some kind of living off (mostly just for validation)
I want to make a manga or something similar.
Yeah I know, it's childish, and I'm a fucking weeb, but its my dream and I'm trying to achieve it.
>>2515267
>why are you making art
Because I enjoy making the ideas in my head real.
>what is your goal?
To try tons of creative things and get better at it while doing it.
To make comics and be able to share the emotions i feel through all kinds of mediums
my life has been falling apart for so long now that motivation for anything of any kind is like a rare resource. i was fired yesterday and now i'm a NEET again with nothing but time. i stop any creative endevour the second it starts to feel like work. i'm losing interest in everything and now all of what occupies my time i am forcing myself to enjoy. even a competent initial level of performance can't get me to see anything to completion.
i have barely started or half finished drawings, piano pieces, programs, models, and media everywhere. i'm slowly turning into a barely sentient NPC, but my only desire in life was to be productive in the arts. at this point i just want to sleep for 16 hours a day. what can i do to enjoy the entire process of creating art, not just the end result? how can i get myself to enjoy simply drawing for the sake of drawing?
has anyone here clawed there way out of a hole?
>>2510870
Draw yourself dead. If you can't finish that, make it a sculpture by actually killing yourself.
i have barely started or half finished drawings, piano pieces, programs, models, and media everywhere.
focus on one thing?
set small goals, set bigger goals, etc.

Hey anon, do you have somewhere we could talk?
Has there ever been a time where you or a classmate had a moment where you either went ape shit in class, walk out of class, or yelled at a teacher/classmate for no reason?
I have one.
>Beginning design class
>Girl with autism sits a couple of chairs from me
>Autism? Perhaps I'm jumping to conclusions.
>maybe just psychotic
>Her shits not great and doesn't take criticism well
>Talks to herself regularly
>Violent talks, like cursing and talking about hurting people under her breath
>One day, a different girl that sits along side of her tells her to stop mumbling to herself
>She sucker punches the bitch in the arm and tells her to stfu
>Teacher gets up, "Wtf?! You need to leave."
>Girl pulls out a exact-o knife
>"I will cut you, white woman!"
>Everyone is shitting breaks
>"Someone is going to die", I think.
>Girl instead takes all her stuff and leaves the room
>class ends for the day
They called the university police and we never saw her again. I guess the reason she left was because she realized she could get into some deep shit and left before she went any deeper. Idk.
I'm also not sure why she felt the need to call my teacher "white woman." She was white too.
shitting breaks though
>>2510515
how is this related to drawing? regardless if it happen in an art class or not
>>2510515
>middle school art class final project
>have a few classes beforehand to work on our projects
>teacher lets kids do whatever, kids do whatever
>mutual dislike of the teacher and classmates
>I sperg out on a scratchboard, make a badass emperor penguin
>peer review day
>I don't need any more points to pass
>I am an asshole
>I raise my hand and critique every single piece
>my piece comes around
>silence, everyone marks my grade on their worksheet
>teach stops, asks if anyone has any critiques
>think she's about to give me all kinds of shit
>tells the class they can't give me anything lower than a B if they can't come up with a single critique
>I get an A on my critiques and B on the project
She probably just hated all of us, but at the time I was shocked she stuck up for me.
Is freedom of speech even real anymore? It's like all modern art is some sort of indoctrination and I just don't want to be a part of 'that'. Is there hope? Like when you look at Matt Stone and Trey Parker they are still sort of real so that gives me hope but that's about it. Is there a reason for me to believe I can create without bearing some sort of uncalled consequence for it? Is the world even still gonna be here when I get good?

Your rights end where my feelings begin.
>>2516881
Society changes and so do the views of people. That's just how it is. If you go against it, people will react to it accordingly. (Doesn't mean death threats or witch hunts are acceptable though, but there's always children on the internet) Either you can deal with it or you keep your opinions to yourself.
>>2516884
That's bullshit. Y'all feel restricted in your rights when people critizise your shitty comedy, when it's their right to do so.
Okay, what the fuck
>conceptart.org is a shithole, challenges are terrible + average total of~4 submissions, all from newbies
>permanoobs - last active challenge is from november last year or something
>artstation - 6667 submissions for their shitty challenge, no forum
Where the fuck do you go to have a comfy motivating art challenges and meaningful discussions with other artists?
>>2516634
The community is way too large to sustain a community like Sijun or old ConceptArt.org again at this point, sadly.
The pro/amateur ratio is completely off, in fact most pros don't even bother interacting with the community directly at this point because they'll be flooded with hundreds of comments from amateurs that they'll never have time to reply to.
Your best option is to fragment into a smaller cell, find some friends to start a private Skype group, Google Hangout, etc with - ideally you want one or two jobbing professionals to every four to six amateurs. This is also far more asshole-proof than large forums or groups.
>>2516634
Last Artist Standing you fuckin' dummy
>100+ submissions daily
>new topic every day
>>2516634
Most artists use social media for these daily / weekly challenges these days. Sketch dailies on twitter and the facebook spitpaint group are probably the most popular with tons of pros participating.
But yeah, it's a shame that there is no more forum with an active community dedicated to this sort of thing. I loved the Ca.org challenges and how motivating it was to see so many people participate, write crits, share their WIPs, then vote for what work they thought was best etc. That's all gone from the social media equivalent or even LAS.
Oh hey another day on /ic/.
Can I become good at art when I start with 12 or is it already too late?
Should I do this certain exercise 231 hours before I move on? Asking because I'm a wimpy faggot that rather collects arbitary information and opinions instead of actually practicing and figuring things out on my own.
I'm going trough this certain book that is written in a style unsuited for me but I force myself trough it because I heard a bunch of opinions on how good that book is even though I don't understand shit.
I created a schedule. First I start with 2 hours doing that thing, Than another 30 minutes that things and then another 3 hours that thing. I wrap it up with one hour of that thing. I actually didn't put any thought into those exercises and just follow them because I heard other people are putting hours in like that. Also I need to mention I use my smartphone with a stop watch app to get my hours exactly in to the last second. Sometimes it's hard and I see there are 10 minutes left but even when I want to give up I move my pen for this last few minutes to feel accomplished and that I actually completed my arbitrary rule that makes no sense. But hey, that one time I finished my overwhelming schedule was pretty cool, never doing it again though and also starting to hate this shit.
Man, lately getting depressed. Better make a thread on /r9k/ 2.0 to hopefully see other people being miserable too. It's only 12 but I feel like the whole day is gone anyway since I'm so depressed. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
Wow, lately fixed my depression for a few seconds by seeing those progression threads. I especially like those people that made no progress in years or actually declined in skill. I feel so much more talented and superior.
Another book share thread went up recently. I couldn't help downloading another book I will never read in my entire life and that just will rot away along with the other stuff on my 2tb harddrive full of art stuff.

Acquire professional psychiatric consultation.
You have dedication. You have resolve. You have practice and fortitude. You are far, far ahead of the game. Is your mind in this context, not your objective work history or experience that is/are to be critiqued here.
You are doing well.
Just as in learning physics - first we teach the 11th or 12th grade pupil example after example - before the abstract concepts of Quantum Mechanics later.
Artistically, you are practicing very very diligently. Stop overthinking.
>>2516083
>it's a "guy makes thread complaining about common board threads" episode
You know what, this thread actually gave me hope that I'll get over my drawing anxiety and find a way to practice and have fun again. Thanks anon
Which one would you take to comepletion /ic/?
Bottom left corner.

Last one from the first row or bottom one from the left corner.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.

Hey all
I am a creative arts student and i am making an interactive art piece for an exhibition , so i need your help . please comment with anything you think i should have or should not have done , or if you think the story should go in a particular way.
here is the link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=172-h92R5YQ&feature=youtu.be
thanks in advance
What story? A 20 second video doesn't tell me anything.
And that girl kinda walks like the hunchback of Notre Dame
>>2516436
It's literally just some chick with crooked legs and mismatched clothes walking to the door, opening it and closing while the camera man have sobering alcoholic hands and doesn't know anything about shots, zoom or light.
Get a skateboard, a few more friends
Have a shot of her entering the hallway, then an over the shoulder of her looking down the hallway.
Then howabout a shot where we're in front of her moving backwards while she's walking towards us. Stand on a skateboard while a friend -slowly- pulls you down the hallway. Hold the camera as steady as you can, or use a tripod.
When she reaches the door, cut to a shot of her walking up to the door and opening it. Then before she walks in, maybe she looks back down the hallway...looking for something or remembering something or whatever. Then cut to her closing the door.
You say that the story should go in a particular direction, when in reality there is no story.
Also, you're a creative arts student, and yet, this 20 second video shows that you are of below average.
Look up 5secondfilms on youtube. They're super successful at telling stories within literally 5 seconds.
Think outside of the box. No one cares about 20 second long "one take" movies. Why should the audience care about your movie? Why should I stand here and wait for nothing to happen? There's no music, no sound, no dramatic lighting, no atmosphere.
You probably recorded this on your phone then uploaded this straight to Youtube.
Have some passion in your fucking work.
Can I make money producing R34? Does anyone on here do it? I'm in college and could use some side cash but have been resisting "stooping" to this as artists call it. I don't mind erotica but would only do it if it sells. Any tips?
>>2515457
find an audience, and pander like your like depends on it. find a type of fandom or w/e and draw for it.
>furries usually sell. even the bad ones.
also if you really want to stoop, draw the really weird shit. people will pay for it if you're willing to draw it.
diaper pictures come from somewhere right?
Reminder that succesful porn artists actualy love the shit out of the things they draw.
Gabe actualy gets off on big squishy bug anuses.
Who are some popular artists? I only know about those game programmers on patreon and misc. artists through hentai sites.
What medium makes the most expressive lines?
>>2515206
digital :)
>>2515206
in the long run, probably oils. I run out of oils quickly and canvases arent fucking cheep. the art stoor doesnt sell acrylics where I live, or I just haven't found them, so I've just been too afraid to practice on cardboard.
>>2515206
Oil or similar because you can sculpt 3D texture.
Would do commissions via Second Life?

Okay.
Okay...
I know you like your dumb shit, and don't get me wrong, props on being the realist tenant of hip hop, but to be honest, stfu. Nobody cares about graf anymore, hip hope might not be dead, but it sure is malnourished and underfed. And don't think y'all are gonna fix the problem, you idiots wasting acrylic markers and spraycans on a dead artfrom. Your shit will get hit by graf squad in DAYS nigga, and there isn't a single thing you can do about it, so give up and make some money if you're hot shit.
Its not about the money, how dead It is, how quick it will gey covered up, but now it is way of resistance, a way of showing your government your are not governed. Okay these small tags dont mean a whole lot but art pieces with meaning reach out to quite a few.
