What motivates you anon? My problem is that I have too many ideas and all the time in the world, but I'm depressed as fuck.
Just look at good artists to tell yourself "fuck it's no time to procastinate, I want to do something as good as this".
Works for me.

this, my phone background is art by one of my favourites just to remind myself everytime I check that phone that I'm not there yet
Someone explain this "art"
Its un front of the local Art and Culture Musseum.
It's representative of discrimination faced by the gays; it's supposed to show the big bad cishets what it's like to be "separate but equal" or something.
>>2524225
if you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit
>>2524225
My take on it is that while gays are discriminated against (in this case with a separate bench) other groups in society are discriminated against even worse. People are pretty aware of the issues with homosexuality and it gets brought up a lot these days, but other groups have it much worse. By making the bench so small they don't even specify which groups these are, so it applies to more things.
It might even be a jab at how gays complain they are discriminated against when they get a full bench and other groups only get a single seat.

how many more formulaic, shallow, minimalistic disney cartoons do we have to endure before people start realizing that nothing special comes from calarts?
fuck off, hipster. Disney artists are skilled as fuck.

When is it OK to trace?
>>2508295
Never. Fuck tracing and fuck the retard who made that image.
>>2508295
>needing an aid for a pose this easy let alone tracing
And this faggot still make 1k a week.
I have to rethink my life.

Never, except when you are digitalfag that fell for intuos mene and puts stylus into his ass to get more exposure on furraffinity while dreaming of becoming polish photobasher.
Did a quick sketch of a goblin :p
>>2525687
This ain't shit man, your sketch is a joke. You should package it with a last smoke and six feet of rope.
Competent sketch, now post it in the fucking drawthread you asshole.
Working way out of my comfort zone, trying to break free of the trap of drawing manga style stuff. It's a WIP.
>>2526597
Proportions still look weird. Post your ref.
So what compelled you to think that your WIP warranted its own thread?
People seem to be stiffer than animals. Animals are basically huge S curves everywhere, but people have those awkward shoulders and neck-to-head placement and weird hips. I want to draw people better, is there a way to make people feel more streamlined like animals?

learn anatomy and stop drawing everything like salamanders
Maybe I should have clarified, what I mean is, can people also "flow" when drawing them? I already learned anatomy, what I would like to learn is how to draw people and have it feel more natural.
I have this pose books that aren't that good but at least can serve as reference material. 5 books covering poses on photographs (one is kinda NSFW.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?
>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

Hello /ic/, I came to ask for a favour.
I'm making a set of images for my art class and I want one of them to be 'people generated', and since i have no friends i came here to ask for help.
Please reply to this thread by stating a colour.

who are examples of successful artists that started at a late age?
I mean, Is there any famous/decent artist that wasn't a fucking drug addict and started in their late 20s?
is there? or are they all prodigies like nowadays
>>2502808
Didn't Min Yum start pretty late? But I'm not sure if that was him or some other Korean artist
>>2502808
Brad Rigney was a hardcore alcoholic and I think only turned his life around and started art sometime in his late 20's or early 30's. El Coro was into the drug scene and turned his life around after a car of him and his friends ran over a cop, though he started in art I think in his early 20's or something, not late 20's. Min Yum started at 25. Craig Mullins only started painting at 23.
There are probably other examples but those are the ones I know off the top of my head. They are outliers for sure, but it can be done.
>>2502808
would you quit your art if we say no,
No artist, starting in their late 20's, has made it
?
What is your favorite color?

Have you gotten to the point where you can look at your previous work without being disgusted or embarrassed?
>>2521204
Everyday.
Some old guy showed me a drawing of his and I literally made that face at it like the retard I am. He's just a nice old guy who was trying his best, worst of all is they weren't even really that bad, /ic/ just brainwashed me into getting that triggered whenever I see anything that isn't 100% Loomis. I feel fucking awful.

I don't have a class in my area, can you guys give mes some materials, books, youtube, etc. on learning the techniques of watercolor?
Also, post anything watercolor related if you like.
im trying to learn watercolor too
the biggest mistake i did was to buy cheap paper
>>2525812
I think when just starting out cheap materials are alright to learn the techniques and get a feel for how the paint works. It absolutely has to be watercolour paper though.
Better (and more expensive) paint makes a huge difference though, if anything just for how dark the pure paints are. If you use cheaper paint you'll have to add black or dark brown which tends to make the darker colours a lot less vibrant.
>>2525621
You can look up the basic techniques on youtube easily. What's more important when working with watercolours than "having the right technique" is to know when to work how. For that I suggest looking up videos of people actually painting. You need to develop a feeling for when to let your paper dry and when to work wet-on-wet and how to control the flow of the paint and water.
And please, for the love of god, never start with dark colours and use very very light pencil sketches. The paint barely masks anything.
OP do you have painting experience? If not I'd suggest you start out with gouache, which are opaque watercolours. Regular watercolours are very unforgiving and pretty much the hardest medium to make something aesthetically pleasing with, which is why I suggest you develop a feeling for painting first with a more forgiving but similar medium.
