How do you guys get yourselves to do actual complete works?

For too long now I haven't been able to break through incomplete sketches. After like an hour, I just stop and couldn't get back at it

Is there like some sort of practice which increases your drawing endurance?

I also felt that something was wrong with the face but can't put my finger on it. Just because something looks off doesn't mean that I haven't been studying loomis for years and own the books.

The breasts look saggy because of my not understanding how to do the sweater correctly, as I think I made it too baggy. If you look at the flesh body I drew under it the breasts are actually quite perky.

Again thank you for your critique and I am not arguing because you are wrong, just to try and gain more insight into what I did wrong so I can grow from it. Thanks.

I have a matte liquid varnish for watercolors, but when I tried to apply it with a brush, it seemed to react with the colors underneath and the light tones faded a bit. I'm going for bright and lively colors, so I really don't want them to fade or tone down...
>>
>>2528516
I have no experience with varnishing watercolour, but if you want the colours to pop you need to go for a gloss varnish. Matte varnish dulls the colours down.
>>
>>2529193
Well, the client wanted it matte... So I'm just trying to find out how to do it.

>changing the symbolism

I've been tearing away at it with a blunt edged palette knife and removing any sickly colours. This is enjoyable as I dig back to fresh bright colours which are probably from when I was happier painting

I also removed a layer from the moon. That was quite a big deal moment and was worth it

this again? Don't you think it's time to leave this for what it is and start something new?

I stand by my statement that it reminds me of the chewing gum-encrusted underside of the tables in high school.

You are wasting both your time and your paint on this. I'm sorry to be so blunt.
>>
It does need a lot of work and money spent on it still

It is running out of time to be finished, our lives are finite,

I'm not looking forward to coming to sell it as the markets are fighting to suppress me, which is one of the most counter productive things I've come across

trying to explain "by trying to stop things in case it isn't yours will leave us with less" isn't easy

as well as "keep taking things off of me in that way will kill me and is seriously hampering my ability"

because ... I suppose that is the intention.

It makes me wonder about other artists , I suppose a lot of them had to weather this sort of thing out. It's certainly not the fun part.

What are yours?

I personally can't stop obsessively refreshing/watching pages for new likes, comments, etc. every time I post up a new piece. I tend not to give a fuck about old pieces that have been up for a long time but when a fresh piece has been posted up I like to check if it got some kind of recognition (otherwise why post on social media?), but it gets uncontrollably obsessive.

I don't know what I would do since I am not good enough to start posting on the web my work, but I would advice to find something to do before posting a drawing, to take your mind off feedback
>>
How many followers or likes/notes/etc are you getting?

I think this is common behavior for people starting out, or for their sites to start seeing growth.

You'll get over it eventually though, once you start having followers in the thousands. Instead of meticulously noting every engagement, you'll only look at your posts once or twice to see if it got an out-of-the-ordinary amount of engagement. You can expect hundreds of likes guaranteed once things that picking up, so you'll eventually stop obsessively refreshing and start focusing on the big picture instead.

Hope that helps!

>How many followers or likes/notes/etc are you getting?
Just a couple per piece usually. Depends on the site a bit though. My most recent thing got something like 7 tumblr likes and one reblog. It was fanart though.

My all time high was 54 tumblr notes (170-something for the same piece submitted to a different page and credited to me), and 85 favorites+5 comments on a dA thing (which happened so randomly and just flooded in for something that was honestly shittier than some other pieces I had, so I didn't even keep track of the feedback on that one at the time).

I get what you mean about the followers in the thousands though. I somewhat can't even really imagine that. Do you even feel any sort of praise/recognition satisfaction from that, or does it just start to become numbers?

>They have a large gallery up for years
>One day, they get in a bad mood and suddenly delete everything
>Gallery gone, account gone, can't find them anymore, didn't save their pictures except for a handful
>They never come back

Why the fuck do people do this. Is it some control thing? Has anyone else done this that they can explain why they do it? It's especially infuriating when they're a really popular artist, why risk losing your entire fanbase just because of a bad mood?

It's a number of things. One time this happened to a weeb artist I am following and I messaged him and he said DA striked him for loli so he was moving on to pixiv.

I don't feel like writing any more because I replied to this thread topic at least 30 times by now.

I normally do save a lot of people's art that I like. This person though had hundreds and hundreds of pictures and had been on dA for over a decade, so I figured their stuff would just always be available and only saved the pictures I REALLY liked for inspiration.

For how much art they had, it must've taken her fucking hours to hide it all.

or watch the very long video of sycra's coloring tutorial on youtube. It helped me actually on my coloring foundation. If you know the foundation you can easily apply it to any coloring styles.

Even though we know sometimes sycras art sucks

Hello! I'm looking to buy a tablet monitor with the purpose of drawing/sketching on it. My problem is I'm based in the EU and most brands that i was interested in buying at the ~500 euro price point sell for a lot more than in America or Asia or are simply not retailed here. A quick example would be the Yiynova MSP19U+, which retails at ~479 dollars on Amazon with one year warranty and a lot of positive reviews and 680 euroes in the EU from the Yiynova Shop

. A lot of the other brands like Monoprice, Xp-Pen and Huion are again only distributing trough Amazon in Europe.

What tablet monitor would you buy at the 500-550 euroes range in Europe?

Buy a used 13 inch cintiq. Make sure it's in good condition.
>>
>>2525798
Seconds this
Also be careful when buying used cintiqs, most tend to have shitty color and pixel resolutions that will fuck up your drawing when displayed on a decent monitor.

I havea bamboo tablet and I would not recommend it. If you drop the frail pen on a hard surface it will break. Otherwise everything it solid.

Hey /ic/, beginner drawfag armed with only a paper and pencil. I'd like to know how to draw thighs getting squeezed by leggings. It looks so sexy but when I draw it looks like shit. If you don't get what I mean, here is an example.

I am also not sure if /ic/ has the same hate for Akairot like /v/ does, but it's the only thigh squeezing picture I got.

I feel bad for drawabox guy. He has to resort to scouring the butt hole of the Internet to get website hits.

While his persistence is admirable, after all these years, it's depressing to see him post "anybody used drawabox?" . It's like he never made it...

How many professionals still draw on pen and paper and simply use digital tablets as some kind of retouching tool.

I guess I can't do entirelly oil stuff digitally.

It's like comparing a digital VST versus playing a real instrument.

I'm planning on doing some HD pixel art that way.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind, but Jake Parker posted a process video the other day. He sketches digitally, then inks and colors traditionally. https://tmblr.co/Zyo1Fw26aIVzD

I never thought to invert the process and sketch on the computer then print it out...

I'm not professional by any means. but ink and graphite as a medium is my favorite. It's a lot of real skill you can't erase.
