What do you mean by "properly"? Most children book illustrations look kinda wonky and extremely simplified, that's part of the charme. I don't think most little children would respond well to illustrations that looked like they came straight out of a Loomis anatomy book.

Well, look at the line-work on the girl's left arm, for example. It's a damn scribble. Her shoes look like fishing hooks. The boys bent leg looks like he's broken his shin.

Here's the deal. I wanted to become a writer and I really do think the stories are decent but the way I write is just outright horrendous. I can't convey anything through words and so I believe the only choice I have is to get into drawing to convey my stories in a better way. Problem is that my drawing is absolute shit. I CANNOT draw without a reference and even when I do at best it's a 3/10. Is there still hope for me? Any tips for animating/drawing comics. At this point I do not care about the money (how much I'll get paid for doing this shit) I just need to create. I'm 19, is it toilets for me to become great?

So I've basically been wondering where do you guys go to do commissions and what not. What kind of community and all would I have to get involved in to make some money on the side?

I believe I'm like intermediate-ish level and think I can scrape some commissions, especially when I look at the level of quality from some of the commissioned artwork I've seen.

Any help is appreciated, a complete newbie when it comes to finding work in this market.

>get your own website
>get youtube channel, facebook and instagram page
>start networking with other artists
>start putting up art there regularly, like 2-3 pieces a week on instagram and maybe once a week on youtube, update facebook with instagram posts sometimes and use it to reach out to friends and family who can support you
>start building a reference list, so that people can see the quality of your commissions and what you have done art for in the past
>always link to your website and say that you do commissions
The bottom line is however that people won't buy your stuff if you can't draw. Commissions for random people is also a pretty shit way to make money on your drawings. They call the shots on what you're allowed and not allowed to draw and a lot of the times you have to draw something that fit their stupid fantasies.

You should get your own website, youtube channel, facebook and instagram page even if you're not looking for commissions. You should put your art out there anywayso that people can see it if you're confident in it. It might help you land something better than having to please people who don't know what they want in the first place.

Thanks for the advice dude, I honestly expected fuck all advice and constant circle jerk.

Will a behance or artstation website do?

I've been meaning to get my twitter/instagram started, but the youtube one is interesting. I'm just trying to weight it up because video editing will take the piss and it seems like youtube is really difficult to grow a viewer base on.

When you say YouTube what do you exactly mean. As in youtube for making tutorials? Speed paints?
>>
>>2530598
For some reason, sharing your sketchbook and doing traditional painting videos always gets a ton of views
Digital speed painting videos aren't as popular unless it's something fantasy related. Like what you see concept artists do
It goes without saying that if you are a pretty girl (either naturally or by the miracle of makeup and exercise) that you'll stand out more
It's also important to put your personality out there in your videos as no talking speed painting videos are a dime a dozen
Lastly as the other anon said, networking is to your advantage. Interact with other artists whose work you admire and make friends
Good luck!

Stop tracing for a start. I would also try to use larger brushes especially in the earlier stages of painting.
>>
We can all tell it's traced.
>>
>>2529616
Of course, i didn't ask on the merit of the drawing in it's self, i just wanted to work on learning how to paint digitally and used a template that i traced over. I have no intentions of publishing it anywhere just looking to get better at painting.

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.

Visit the usual "Artbook Thread" to find your desired books. (Or look in the new sticky)

Do not forget to PLEASE RESIZE and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.

There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Draw backgrounds that people can fill with figures and then post in drawthreads. Even better, be total creepy asshole and after someone posts his study in very high-res by mistake paint on it.

Would anyone here be interested in working for a commission, possible donations or having your art work linked on my Twitch, Youtube, twitter accounts?

My name is MeanRock and I'm looking for original artwork created by communities to incorporate it into my accounts.

As the name MeanRock, or Mean_Rock Implies I want a cartoony rock with a mean or grumpy face. Feel free to incorporate your personality, memes or anything you want.

Specificity I'm looking for the following:

A Thumbnail or brand image I can use as my stock image for the majority of my online presence.
Online/Offline screens for my twitch page.
Donation/Twitter/Facebook panels at the bottom of my twitch.

I will forever link your deviant art or what ever website and give full credit to the people apart of this project.

This is a chance to have your artwork scene my 1000s of people.

Below are some stock images that I thought I liked for inspiration.

>>

You can just submit artwork in this thread or PM me on one of the various social media websites on my twitch (mean_rock). I already have basic panels, banner, offline etc. I would just like original artwork for my channel.

Even a simple cartoon rock with a mean face would be great!

People pay more for porn commissions than non-porn commissions.

FUCKING WHY
16 posts and 1 images submitted.

only if you are shit. Portraiture commissions can get really expensive if you are really good.

How much more? Got any stats? I don't to do porn, but knowing would be nice.
>>
>>2531026
there's a sort of intimacy that goes into drawing nsfw that's not entirely unlike actually doing porn. of course one is still different than the other.

That happened to me for a while too. It's why you're supposed to traditionally, and encouraged to practice with a pen/fine-liner from time to time. Digital can make you really sloppy and lazy if you haven't had a reason to build up that confidence and awareness of what you're doing.

So in the panel where the guy is kind of floating - is it wrong because the horizon passes through his neck, and not his face like everyone else? Or is it wrong because his feet are built off a guy's midsection? Both, I'm guessing.

In the panel where he's illustrating "multiple planes" - I'm not gleaning any new info there. Can someone explain these guidelines?
Cuz if I'm right about the floating guy, then I shouldn't use attach midsections to heads. But Loomis is doing it here.

in left-down, the only problem with the background guy is that he's slightly taller than the other guys, altought most probably the error loomis is trying to show is that sombody pretended to draw the 3 guys aligned but fucked it up.

in right-down, can't see shit, but i'm assuming he moved the height over the labeled "measuring line" to show how tall would be the guy, if he wouldn't be over the stairs.
