Okay, don't think of this as a demand or a challenge, but I would really like an actual (or former) art student to teach me what they know. I liked the spirit of that LAB tutorial thread, and I want the /ic/ community to have something like that.
Could someone teach me about painting faces so I can get away from this anime-stuff I'm doing?
Study facial relativity, and learn how to make a "comfortable" face.
It's all about features relative distances from each other.
>>2622330
Buy a book and reading it you fucking retard, if you need people to shovel you information you're never going to get good.
>>2622330
Loomis. Also I don't see any particular anime stuff in your picture.
What artworks in the world display the greatest show of technical skill in perspective, colour, value, composition, anatomy, etc?
What's the best show of perspective in an image? What's the best show of anatomy in an image?
This can also be an amazing art thread
This has got to be one of the largest 'single piece' of artwork in the world
The colour in this is my favourite
Post it if you got it.
What do you do when you find "something" that is not mentioned anywhere online or at least obscure enough that you dont see it mentioned anywhere, this "something" helps you cut times and create really good looking pieces... Do you apply it to your particular workflow and keep it to yourself forever or do you share it like in a tutorial for the recognition or even over here on a thread just to help like minded people? I only ask because of the zeen chin lab color thread from a couple weeks ago, it felt like people gathered and helped each other understand something that wasnt really explained or talked about. So, what do you do?
I was one of the people who shared/researched info in that thread.
Normally, if I find something interesting, I love to share it with my art friends. Whether or not they find it useful, it's a way for me to feel a part of this collective artistic subconscious. It feels as though I've made an impact to the community, which is a feeling I don't experience often.
Some people don't feel this way and that's totally fine. When someone of this nature finds something that helps them, why should they tell someone else? Here's an example: Tim found a way to save 5 minutes in the morning. Tim wears tomorrow's outfit in bed while he sleeps. That way the next morning he can go on about his day faster. Tim tells Bob about his discovery but Bob responds by saying that he gets really hot at night and sleeps naked. Tim thought he was doing something good, but in reality it didn't matter. So the next time Tim finds something, he's less likely to tell Bob about it.
Hopefully that example makes sense.
Then there's "that guy" who keeps info to himself because "muh competition" or "finder's keepers"
That guy is an asshole, don't listen to him.
I've said those things on /ic/ but the responses I always get are
>post your work
>lmao fuck fine art
>>painting in an illustration board
so it's the same
>>2621985
Thank you very much for your input in that thread by the way
What do you d/ic/kholes think of Simon Stalenhag, skill wise. I quite enjoy his pieces myself.
>>2617983
First, I don't think of him at all.
But that picture is shit. Like gee, I wonder which aspects had photo reference or... fuck, even painted over.
>>2617988
> I wonder which aspects had photo reference or... fuck, even painted over
Who cares as long as the piece looks consistent. Not using photo reference as a personal rule is dumb as fuck.
>>2617988
You mean to tell me you wouldn't grab references to create period police cars? It' not difficult to paint cars and homes without painting over an existing image. In fact, the most impressive part of this work is the lighting on the robot which couldn't have been made from reference. What the hells is wrong with using a reference anyways?
I'm looking to commission some r-18 art work. I don't hang around /ic/ much so I'm sorry if this is out of place/socially unacceptable here.
Basically very vanilla stuff, nothing anyone would find disgusting or anything like that, in the format of maybe one page of a doujin. Uncoloured is fine. I already have exactly what I want in mind.
If anyone can give me any recommendations, or drop contact info so I can contact you, that would be nice. I have a budget of $150 but it's fairly flexible.
Again sorry if this is out of place, I didn't see anything in the rules.
>>2615731
>gets super happy because I could use the dough to help pay for my plane ticket home
>sees its a comic styled commission
>cries internally
Well I'm sure plenty of people will do this commission, but honestly if you have 150 of flexible money you might as went contact artists you like directly instead of this board.
>>2615731
If that's the quality you want in the op pic nobody here can reproduce that.
>>2616059
There are people here who could reproduce that. They just don't give a shit about it.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Look at those shoes
Upon closer inspection they look so hastily made with no help at all, but at a glance they look just like real shoes
How does the author do it
some more examples

Horikoshi seems to have much better foundation skills than the average mangaka. He graduated from an art academy and you can see that he knows anatomy very, very well. Very underrated artist. This ability to simplify comes from life drawing.
Tomorrow will be the first time I'm going to have a booth at a local art festival. Basically, my nerves are running rampant even though I'm pretty prepared.
Does anyone have any experience doing art festivals and can give me some last-minute advice?

Just relax and try to enjoy meeting people. Don't worry about sales; they'll happen or they won't. Don't be clingy or pushy. Listen more than you talk. Answer questions. Not a big deal unless you make it one.
Just relax, try to have a nice time.

No. Case closed.
instead ask yourself: is there chance of becoming popular by creating things people don't care about?
also if you paid attention you'd notice sergey has a per artwork model, meaning if he posts 4x a month he can make up to $2700, and $6750 if he spams 10 artworks.
I make lots of mandalas. Are you cool and professional or overhyped zentangle doodle shit?
*are they. Fuck me.
they're cool to look at. wouldn't go as far as saying "professional"
I keep finding that drawings which aren't of a nude figure or a landscape are difficult to pass off as "professional." I wish drawing could be held in the same regard as painting.
My grandmother claims that my second cousin twice removed is Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt. The following pieces I am posting are by him. I do not consider myself an artist yet however I am heavily motivated to take it up as a form of catharsis while I am in university. Please post sculptures that you have made, or are inspirational for you, or you just happen to like.
Thank you for your time. Also, if there's anything you guys might know about Rodrigo I'd be very interested in hearing, I haven't investigated him much.
what are some alt sites to Deviantart that are active but not over saturated? (But not as professional as something like conceptart.org) I haven't really been on DA in years so it is even worth going back to?
I haven't been to anyone but you can try wysp? I joined deviantart a year ago. The drama and rude people seemed to die down. Maybe you should go back there.
>>2622022
When i was on there 5-6+ years ago the community seemed alright, it was easy to connect with other mutals but I stopped about 4 years ago cause the community just wasnt there. People would fav and watch you but wouldnt ever talk to you, is it still like that?
>>2622014
Artsta- oh... nevermind.
Can we all post pictures of ceramics and pottery for inspiration. Always love to see whats out there...I want to get back into it. Im always on the lookout on craigslist for a cheap kiln and wheel.

what age would you consider the limit to have a decent level and claim to "have made it"
>>2620006
There is no age limit. You can "make it" whenever. Age has never been important unless you're trying to make friends with internet based fan-artists/porn artists. But those aren't people you should really want to be making friends with anyway.
>it's the age thread again
Has OP finally found the secret to unlimited (You)s?
If you weren't seriously studying art at 5 you have zero hope at making it, sorry, just the facts.
