Post your woodwork. Only three I took pictures of below.

We're looking to add some new people to our four month old Skype group, which has been pretty successful so far.
We chat about art and give crits.
There's also a weekly assignment to keep everyone involved, and to keep the lurks away. Here's an example of what we made for a weekly, with the theme of "dragons": http://imgur.com/a/CKahl
Only requirement for you to stay in the group is to submit a weekly at least once a month.
If you're interested in joining, post your skype username and preferably an example of your work.

No thanks.
I'd be interested in something like this, hit me up

I dunno man, you usually see these threads fill up with dozens of skype usernames, clearly the rest of /ic/ disagrees
A question for those of you that take pornography comissions. What is the average age/gender of most of your customers? I gotta know.
I don't do commissions, because I haven't gotten gud yet, but how would you know? People aren't likely to tell you their personal details when buying porn, are they?
>>2626059
Then why are you in this thread...
Thanks for the bump I guess
I see them on ebay and aliexpress for like a dollar
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&_nkw=2mm+leadholder&_sop=15
I'm thinking about getting a few, does anyone have experience with them? or are they usually dead on arrival?
>>2625689
Just buy a Staedtler Mars Technico. They are everywhere.
Get a Fixpencil 22. Trust me, you won't look back.
Lead holder is mostly a meme. Graphite is a bad medium to begin with. Sure, you could use them for other colored leads, but they're just as bad.
Please /ic/ , i need to know, wich pen was used in this drawing?
>>2622068
It's called 'the pen that gives you 10 thousand free hours of practice'. I think they sell them at wal-mart.
>>2622068
This again? I know exactly what pen that is, but I'm not going to tell you. Don't make threads for such irrelevant questions.
It's just a normal Uni-Ball you can get at any store.
What makes classic artwork so much better than modern artwork?
>>2617914
What makes your opinion more important than others?
>posting images of post-modern illustration
>think he knows what 'classic' and 'modern' entails
>>2617914
Nostalgia.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
Old thread: >>2618690
I want to be a comic book artist. I'm influenced a lot by French comics and Disney, I work on paper, I'm somewhere around intermediate and I need to learn better rendering in watercolor. My #1 reason to start a course is I'm damn tired of working completely alone and I need a competent person guiding me. I'm plateauing and I find myself drawing less and less because I don't have a project that drives me ATM.
I have looked up a bunch of cheaper online courses and they're either
1) working sight-size with a very academical approach which is pointless to me, I need a constructive approach
2) taught by a million different artists with very different working methods, no matter how great they are I'd rather have one person teach me in a coherent way
3) taught by amazing artists who are horrible at teaching
I've taken a look at Aaron Blaise's course and it looks like it's checking all my boxes, even if it's oriented towards animation. There's a sale to get all the content on the website for one year and I'm thinking of picking it up. I'm poor as fuck so it's going to be a huge investment, I only get to buy one course and it needs to be worth it.
If anyone has experiences to share, please give me advice.
>>2618839
I've tried some of Aaron's stuff before and I definitely prefer his teaching style over most others. I think he does a good job of explaining why we construct things the way we do, so I do recommend learning from him.
Here's a torrent of his anatomy course, if you're against pirating just download it as a test to help you decide whether it's worth an investment or not. I just downloaded some of the files to make sure it's working and clean.

Thanks, eventually I got the yearly subscription and I'm looking at his stuff on character design. I would have liked more advanced lessons on average but seeing him work made me fix a few things already.
Also he draws animals a lot and I was looking for that as well.
>>2618839
Ooh, I bet you like the Blacksad series! Superb character and scene drawings, compelling stories...how the hell can two Europeans evoke the character of 1950s America so well?
Can you guys share your opinions on this?
It's shit
>>2625056
Looks pretty degenerate for me.
Also, make up your mind if you're going to just outline the shape of the haircut or draw hair by hair.
>>2625056
Awful. urges study of basics
Painted this yesterday. Let me know what you all think.

this is real art
Since majority of ic is circle jerk or does some autist shit on the porn thread or some other shitty draw thread, I'll give you some tips as a fellow beginner painter
I gotta say ,thats not really, good , you use too much brown so the trees are quite like if gorlla had a diarrhea on them. I can guess that you tried to make the tree looking natural and not just a green mush, but in the end you used too much brown, or the brush you were working with was too big, or maybe the paint you used was too solved in water or whatever u used, causing too big miles.
The sky is Ok , its quite normal, I can see ui used lighter shades to define the clouds on it
Btw I want to ask , did you used a reference? If you did its not a problem, but it seems you have problem with painting down what you see.
There is quite a few tutorials on the internet for that,
but the main thing is you need to break down the scenery into shapes, each coloured parts should be a shape for you. This way you'll learn to use shades in a more precise manner and your painting will look more realistic.
Also you'll need to cultivate your perception somehow, if you want to copy goodly the scenery or the base of it, you'll need to memorise how big was the tree, how much part of the picture the water takes up and then get this down to the canvas\paper, But I see that is going well for you
Or that's what worked for me at least.
It may not work for you, but give it a shot anyways.
What kind of paint you use , acryllic, or tempera, maybe water colour?
Draw thread, last one dead.
Post your current drawings here for critique. Beginners doing studies do not belong in this thread, neither do questions. Those both have dedicated threads.
Portrait from life, charcoal and white ctayon on toned paper. 3 hours.
I feel like im making a lot of little mistakes that add up to an ultimately bad drawing. Can anyone help me spot some of the more glaring ones?
>>2616594
why does this look like its been through a shitty filter?

just looking for a bit of crituque.
third attempt, what do you guys think? have i got talent?
>>2625592
bold and provocative.

>>2625592
nice, epic, I like it.
People here have said that you can "learn the smart way," and yet they never describe what it entails. I've learned everything I know through repetition and mileage, and most artists who've made it tend to recommend this. What is the "smart" way to study?
>>2622631
depends on what you want really
i guess step one is knowing what you want out of art
Be goal oriented and conscious of what and why you're doing it instead of mindlessly drawing a million gestures because Proko said so

Post your work
Hey /ic/, I was sketching a new character for a game called unreal tournament 4. Basically, anyone can submit ideas for weapons, maps, and characters.
It's an arena shooter, so it can have some sillier characters. I wanted to make a character with blender that is a sentient AI built from scrap metal.
However, the sketch you see is too cartoony. I wanted to keep the spirit of the character, while reducing his cartoony features. I think the biggest offenders are his head size, neck size, and upper chest area all relative to each other.
Also, his eyes are too big and too 'squarish'. I wanted to know if you guys had any tips and suggestions on how to make him less cartoony.
One thing I was playing with is the shape of the eyes. I think they need to be thinner, but I don't know if it's better to have them upright or horizontal. I think the horizontal ones look craftier, and the upright ones look like he's more mad
thoughts?

the last one is missing, and I'll read the pdf for sure, and I think it's right that I did too much detail.
I did like the little add-on heart electronic, and I like the rivets that holds his chest together. Perhaps the left shoulder pad is too big as well.
does the second one look less cartoony?
Whats /ic/ opinion on Fun2draw?
