Those paintings don't even really look that realistic. I've seen a lot better hyper-realist work.
Early this year I started making watercolor paintings (first painting medium).
I've enjoyed my experience with it WAY more than I ever did with drawing.
Are there any other watercolorists here? Spread the love and inspiration!
Pic is of a creek near my house (maybe a month old).

I like it, op. Looks like you get immersed in your painting.
I've been drawing in here since christmas but it's painting that I've always wanted to do.
>>2623404
I'd tell you to just start. I felt more improvement per painting than I did when drawing. That's what really pushed me to change.
Here's my most recent plein air painting
What is ic's opinion on Akiakane ?

ikr. so how does it feel when your art isn't as good? I feel pretty bad about it. but then I remember I draw porn and make decent living off it, so I feel a tad better.
It's shit, next.
Take it as a challenge or an exercise. Draw a picture based on the presented setting below.
>Temple of Mana Archives: Compendium of First Accounts of the early settlers of this land.
>Upon the arrival, this land it quickly made it clear to us that there is no fooling around here. The animals and plants of this place are very different from the ones back at home. Travelling alone in the wilderness is a sure way to get mauled and eaten or poisoned. We have chosen to erect walls of stone to keep the inhabitants of the forests at bay. People usually move outside the walls in groups. Smaller creatures can be fought off with a group but a group of people are still no match for bigger creatures. We are currently breeding a local kind of creature that people call "obu". Obus are two legged lizard-like creatures with colorful feathers. They are a bit taller than horses and seem to be strong enough to carry humans and pull the adze. We just need to breed some obedience into them.
>The trees that make up the forest of this place are also very different from those back at home. There are of course regular trees here, but they are a minory of the flora. People have started to make up names to separate different trees from each other. Shroom trees look like mushrooms. Wooden trunk capped with a cap. Cap is usually greenish with patterns. Some shroom trees are kinda like regular trees, but leaves are replaced with mushroom caps. Then there are floater trees. These trees are not held up by their trunks, but rather their trunks keep the attached to the ground. The tip of those trees has a bladder which makes it float far up into the sky. These trees grow to be quite high. No other tree can contest their height.

>In the northern lands, there are trees which the locals call "stone tentacles". Their trunks at the base can be up to 100 feet wide. Additionally, they grow to be immensely high. Ad they get taller and taller, they start to bend under their own massive weight. Not to topple over, stone tentacles - in addition to regular branches - grow supportive vines out of their sides. These vines reach outwards and try to attach themselves to neibghouring stone tentacle trees. Vines that can't reach a tree will eventually twist into a spiral. At a certain state of maturity, these vines will grow their own set of vines. A forest of stone tentacles can be hundreds of feet tall and its insides are an endless sea of vine trunks wrapped around each other.
>There are more strange trees in this land, but describing all of them would fill up multiple scrolls.
>Tribes of barbarians have taken up homes in those forests. However, those people are quite different from humans. They are covered in black fur except for their face and chest. Their faces are rough and bony. They kinda have snouts like dogs, but not so long. Their snouts are like half way from human to dog. An average individual of those people is very muscular. Their homes are high up among the stone tentacles. They use vines as roads and climb from one tentacle to other when required.
>The land also contains unusual amount of caves. Some caves are really shallow and others go on for miles and miles underground and even surfacing at the far ends. Another kind of barbarian people have taken up those caves as homes. They appear far more human than those in the stone tentacle forests. However they are considerably short. At a distance they could be mistaken for children, but in closer examination they have large pointy ears, large eyes and fangs. Unlike the stone tentacle people, they don't have as much hair. In fact, they have hair pretty much in same places as humans do.

Background:
I am making an interactive novel slash video game for the DemoDay10 jam in vg/agdg/ general. An important part in making such a thing, is to have concept art. Concept art is the source of inspiration for the feel of the game. I can write concept lore for my game, but I ain't got the skills to draw and nor the time to develop them.
So, I come to you for help.
What can I do for you? I can offer you no money. However, I can display your artwork on my project's social media pages with links to your portfolios or contact infos. What will this do to you? In its current stage my game will be exposed mostly to other developers. And if they like what they see, they might just contact you for some work. And should my game take off (don't bet your life on it), your pictures would be exposed to a lot of people, who otherwise might take interest in you.
Of course, if you don't want me to put your picture out there, I won't.

Pretty cool, I wouldn't mind a bit more rendering, like just a good once over but it's a spooky design and well done over all.
Impress me faggots.

Every excuse to do more practice is a good excuse; I'll post when I'll finish it.
made some roughs
which one do you think I should go forward with?
I like number 12 the most.
I like 41

This is a really dumb meme, but do you have a site where I can check out your stuff?
Is it possible to achieve line-art like in pic related while drawing digitally? Usually when people draw digitally it's usually either a quick sketch with unfinished lines or it looks very stiff and comic book-esque, so is it even possible to do or is it best to just move onto digital painting? Even techniques like crosshatching don't seem to translate well, do you guys have any idea on the subject?
If you have any examples of great digital line-art i'd appreciate it if you posted them.
>>2631185
but this was done digitally.
>>2631185
you can, working on a big canvas then resizing kinda gives the effect of analog media
>>2631190
I don't think it is, pic related was the original and drawn by Yoh Yoshinari (Gianax / Trigger animator), and all his other drawings are traditional
How do I emulate the way Japanese artists draw lines
Its a subtle difference than how we do it in the west.
>>2630603
You'll have to wait until we get a lot of advancements in trans surgery to the point that we can change peoples races.
It's in their samurai blood, and we can't even emulate it with our gaijin blood.
>>2630603
Just do an lots and lots of crosshatching.
Simulate alot of your favorate mangaka.
I usually think their way of lining has to do with how much they learn to write with their symbols and influences from early manga.
>>2630603
Look footage of manga page creations from good artists.
Is there a reason why /ic/ doesn't talk about hitokaku anymore?
A few years ago the consensus was that he's the best source for newcommers to learn anatomical construction.
Can't read that shit.
>>2632111
>box
But that's wrong
>>2632121
Do you read Japanese? What does it say? I think it says the box is the wrong way to construct the hand. The pic next to it shows a... less anatomically wrong hand.
What does /ic/ think of surrounding yourselves with your own art instead of others' works for inspiration?
I follow an artist on Youtube who recently put up a video showcasing her room/studio and she had nothing but her own works of art on her wall as inspiration. There's nothing inherently wrong with this but I couldn't help but find it weird. I can't help thinking she's so in love with her own art that she couldn't possibly be trying to get better, which I feel should always be the goal.
It's always made more sense to me to surround myself with creations from artists I admire, but I'm interested in hearing what you all think about it.
Pic semi-related?
>>2631303
>looking at your own are rather than others for inspiration
Sounds counterintuitive
also sounds like incest
Maybe she doesn't hang her art up to admire it but rather to critique it... Her workspace is a constant reminder to her on how she could get better
I used to have my work decorating my studio (mostly traditional portraits) not purely because of my ego, but so I could see my past mistakes, or attempt to recreate things I did right.
Recently I moved, and have no intention to put them up again. It ended up feeling a bit arrogant and kind of creepy with all those eyes staring at me.
