What the fuck is the point? Just take a photo or something.
I'm looking to make a comic of some sort. The "some sort" is where I'm confused. Since I'm new to comic making, what is the best way to branch it out to the world? It's not going to be an ongoing one, it will have an endpoint. I don't know whether I should make the whole thing and release it as a graphic novel or release it in chapters like a comic. I don't really like the idea of a web-comic because I would have deadlines and I like the idea of having the actual tangible comic in your hand, but again I don't know too much about how a comic book actually gets published and distributed. Is it too much hassle for one single person?
nothing wrong with web comic, you can set your own deadlines
>>2647155
If you have a good idea/story/style, go ahead, but if you want it published at some point (like team up with a publisher), they'll almost always reject you when you tell them it's already published online for free.
>>2647155
If you have never done a comic before, you probably shouldn't bother worrying about the distribution method just yet. I guarantee you, the first comic you make will be utter shit. So rather get that out of the way by doing a bunch of short stories and get used to sequential story telling before diving into something you plan on having published.
For those who have gone to art school and had a low GPA when applying: how did you get in?
Have a really strong portfolio

Art schools look at your high school GPA?

So, I was just googling Hannah Hooper, from the band "grouplove" and fond out she's a decent painter. Had no idea.
Any body know of any other famous people not traditionally known for there paintings?
MC Ride, Terry Crews.

Both Hitler and Churchill were into painting though Adolf was way more serious about it

what's wrong with me?
>start /ic/ adventure a month ago
>tried as hard as I could since then, every day for 2 hours
>still suck A S S
Is this just not for me?
>>2647809
Try for a few years, my dear.
Did you really think you could git gud in a month?
>>2647809
>Is this just not for me?
Yup, find something else to do.
>>2647809
Ive been drawing for 2 years and my art is still shitty but you dont see me bitching about it every day now.
How do I motivate myself to make a serious effort to draw and try to improve? All I ever do is doodle. I can't seem to bring myself to make any kind of a serious effort to draw although I've been interested in drawing since I was a child. I have all of the necessary tools and supplies in front of me, but I don't have the motivation.
Discipline yourself. Can't do that? Give up then.
>>2647777
>motivation
stop
it only ever works for the first month or so but if you can't discipline yourself to draw every day thjen you aren't making it
drawing is not for everyone
>>2647777
Stick to a schedule.
Really. Motivation is for faggots.
It's like working out only when you feel like it and still wondering why you're still fat.
Getting better at drawing/ Getting fit is the only motivation you need to stick to a schedule.
You set it. You follow it. It will be hard. It will feel like a boring chore, but that's until you feel the change. After that is the dream.
You will want to draw more and more... You will burn out. You will be sick as fuck. You may want to burn your drawings. You may wan to quit. But you will see your drawings and notice how fucking skilled you have become, just with consistent practice and you will realize it... You just have made it.
Come on. When you have 50 minutes for practice every day?
Can it fuck up your work ?
Yes i turn it of when i paint. Sketching is fine.
yeah, sometimes I forget to turn it off and since it warms up the screens colours up, my colours are way too cold.
General rule is if its color sensitive,
turn flux off.

It seems to teach the Russian method, but unlike the Russian schools, it seems to be open to all foreigners and is located in Florence, Italy
Not to mention that its super cheap(compared to American school of similar level)

pretty sure there's foreigners at st peter's academy or whatever it's called.
I'm planning on going someday and smoking lots of cigarettes and being /fa/ as fuck.
>>2647676
You're a fucking faggot dude.
So at this point you pretty much have to use 3D and/or photograph elements in your work if you want to make it as a digital illustrator or concept artist, right?
>>2647050
as concept artist for environments? yes.
Illustrator? no.
>>2647050
not really. I mean, whether you use photo textures or texture brushes is such an irrelevant choice anyway I'm not sure why you think that any client would care whichever you use.
>>2647050
>illustrator =/= concept artist
>illustrator =/= concept artist
>illustrator =/= concept artist
>illustrator =/= concept artist
>illustrator =/= concept artist
When will people here learn?
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Has a piece of art ever made you feel any strong emotions? Every other form of art like tv/movies, books (including comics), music, and even vidya have made me feel different emotions but I don't think a painting or drawing has ever made me feel anything (aside from smut) Why do you think that is?
Has a painting or drawing ever gotten an emotional reaction out of you? If so post it, if not, talk about why.
>>2636744
To be honest.
>>2636750
what does it make you feel and why do you think it does?
>>2636744
I'll tell what won't make me feel, and that is this memeass painting.
what is some advice that you would tell yourself if you could go back in time?
mine:
>don't focus on one subject for more than a week, switch things up hourly
>write down your goals at the start of the day, and what you are now better at at the end of the day
>if you can't proficiently do the absolute basics, you have no chance with more advanced stuff. start with simple shapes
>know your end goal and figure out what you need to learn in order to get there, learning for the sake of learning with no end goal doesn't work
>>2622264
