Who here is completely bored of what they manage to do in art?
Being a low skill person myself I find it frustrating that I am totally unable to draw the stuff I wish to create properly.
I believe it's going to be the death of my love for drawing sooner or later in my life.
Which might as well be the end for me since it's technically the only thing I enjoy doing besides surfing the internet.
well you better get gud quick then shouldn't you.
if you enjoy it so much then why are you here shit posting instead of working on getting better. practice makes perfect
I feel you, bro. But keep trying, what keeps me going in art is the prospect of getting better, even if I'm really thick and shit at any of my hobbies.

If you watch anime literally 95% of it is becoming stronger. Replicate that, let it be your motivation.
In Dwarf Fortress, otherwise normal Dwarfs can be overcome by a "strange mood", whereapon they will stop eating, drinking or socialising and spend all of there time waiting in a workshop and demanding tools and equipment.
Should you give them the equipment they need, they will start working and carve, engrave, paint of construct a legendary artefact of unparalleled quality.
Should you not get the equipment in time or deny their request, they will go completely insane and/or die.
You guys ever feel a similar "bolt" of inspiration type thing? I can't draw on demand, only on the rare (3-4 times a year) times I feel like it.

>You guys ever feel a similar "bolt" of inspiration type thing? I can't draw on demand, only on the rare (3-4 times a year) times I feel like it.
Literally people who don't make it, say this. Here on /ic/, we build discipline and habits so we have the bolt of inspiration all the time even when we don't want to draw.
>>2666978
i think it depends on your goals
if you want to be able to consistently make high quality art or maybe even make a career out of it, then yes, i suppose you do need to use discipline to train all the time even when you dont want to
but my goals are different. i paint because it makes me feel calm and content when im in the mood - i dont really care about the end product. i never even show people stuff ive done, because it doesnt matter to me. the thing i like is the actual act of putting brush to canvas.
so i just paint when i want to, and dont try to force things
These threads focuses on Westernized stylization and the fundamentals behind Cartoons as seen in >>>/aco/
Examples of "westernized" styles include:
Wakfu
The Simpsons
Disney
Tumblr-esque (Adventure time, Gravity falls, etc.)
Marvel
My Life as a Teenage Robot
Anything unrelated to Eastern style
Looking for resources? Read the fucking sticky.
western should stay on the main /Draw Thread/ tbqh familia
Make /ic/ great again :^)
>>2663111
You are mistaken if you think it should stay in the main drawthreads; the main drawthreads are for lifedrawings not stylization.
>First American Mangaka
He's living his dream, and even draws Feng's recommended amount of hours.
What's your excuse /ic/?
>>2657096
I wonder what his definition of manga is. Having it published in Japan? His style sure as fucking doesn't invoke what most people would associate with manga.
>>2657103
>Manga is tied to one particular style or definition
You know Manga is just Japan's way of saying Comics right?
Just how any animated show, whether is drawn by western studios or not, is considered Anime.
>>2657109
Then he isn't "the first american mangaka", is he?
no more fucking feet edition

Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

I need some other artist advice; I've been drawing for a year in college and I take classes but I can't draw well yet in my eyes so I commissioned an artist in April.
I paid her the $360 up front for the single commission, and since I have yet to even see a sketch. I email the artist every week and every week she tells me "I promise it will be sketched by tonight/this week" etc, I've heard this from her since April. Then some emails (at least 10) so far she told me she was going to sketch them but her back her or she was sick and couldn't draw. The problem is whenever I go on her stream to see what she's working on she's taking other commissions newer than mine or working on brand new commissions. I've seen in her the stream chat if anyone would like to pay for new commissions.
The problem is I paid her months and months ago and I have to see any sketch, she promised me to have sketches by X for minths but I have yet to see anything. On top of that she's currently taking new commissions and not working on mine, I've seen her in stream asking and begging for money from watchers. From watching some of the streams she is always telling her viewers how she's broke and she needs new commissions or a little bit of extra money like tips.
How the fuck do I handle this? Should I ask for a refund, if she's broke like I suspect what do I do? She's told me in emails she's works everyday for 14 hours straight, which can't be true because she's getting no work done.
Also, I forgot to add: About a month ago she emailed me and asked if I could pay her upfront for another commission. I told her no thanks I'll wait until my other is done(I was saying that just to get her to work on my old one, I wasn't going to give her more). After I nicely told her "No thanks, let's finish what we have now" she got legit upset. She copped a real bad attitude and said something like "Whatever, I'll do it whenever I find time. Thanks for all your help when I needed it."
She clearly can't manage money at all and I'm suffering for it and possible other clients.

Next time just use google you cunt
>artist has only few fans
>already opens Patreon
>whores his ass everywhere with Patreon stuff
>Patreon exclusive streams
>Pateron exclusive art
>Pateron exclusive etc.
...
>they start disappearing from everywhere and becom Patreon only
>when they were more active on open places at least they had a chance to entertain more people
>and it was just FUN to have them around and talk/chare and discuss art/visit streams
Why they do that?
I understand how some autistic porn artist with 40000000 followers can have patreon but why random artists do that?
Having a Patreon is like closing in your little world and becoming not fun anymore.
>>2666506
because they can why do you care get back to drawing
do you not know what money is
They don't understand how to strike the balance between exclusive content and building a fan base. You're better off not limiting access to your art, but only limiting services to patreon.
For example, say you draw some really nice fan art. Is it better to let that piece hit free galleries and rack up views or to just let your 40 patrons see it? You could limit your tutorial, recording, request/commission services to patreon at a much lower cost since commission clients and patrons are an overlapping crowd.
F2p games work because you get to see and feel hunger for everything you're missing without paying and it may be best to run your online presence in this way.

I've heard around 10-15k a year, if so why not in house?
>>2666300
Because I came from a well off family and don't have all my eggs in one basket. House, land, farm ect. Thank Loomy too, all the artists I know that work solely freelance and inhouse are mostly depressed. I help out on the farm maybe twice a year at most for a week or so, work some light freelance a portion of the year with some sporadic commission, and work on projects the rest of the time.

It's alright. I don't really buy things I don't really need or live extravagantly, but I wouldn't be an artist if I cared for things like that. I get to chill, git gud, make the art I want to make and even travel 1-2 times a year which is more than enough.

Did you ever find that perfect(ish) art software, /ic/?
I pirate everything, and recently I got the idea to stop being a spoiled cunt and actually pay for my software.
The problem is, having pirated everything I could, I got used to using individual programs to their absolute strengths, and now every program looks like shit on its own.
It's like every program has a fatal flaw, and I can't bring myself to commit to any of them.
