Any general critiques on my work?
Is it just me or this obvious use of digital brushes looks like shit? Like it was done with shitty markers.
Kinda cool, but a little confusing. Depth is a bit off to me.
Kinda cool but also a huge oversized mess with no sense of composition, hard edges everywhere, no detail distribution, weird textures. Almost looks like professional concept art.
Also doesn't deserves its own thread.

Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then hug a kitten for good luck.

is this you trying to be like that guy that gave you half a tube of white oil paint so you'd leave him alone?
this girl works at the coffee shop and she wanted me to draw her before she left for college

I was wondering if anyone would like to help me design a quarter sleeve tattoo, Im not great at drawing so it would help out alot.
>>2668273
Why exactly don't you ask your tattooist?
>>2668273
How much are you willing to pay for help with design?
I haven't found a tattoo yet, just wanted to see if I could get some pointers on how it should look
What are the optimal settings for adobe illustrator if i'm trying to get gud at drawing.
>>2666625
If you want to get good at drawing don't use Illustrator. Focus on pencil and paper, and then if you need to do digital use SAI or Photoshop.
>>2666625
Anon is right, you gotta master drawing on paper first
>>2666637
>actually recommending SAI to anyone
its a shit tier program
either photoshop or painter desu
I'm honestly considering entering FZD. I feel like it's the only way I will be able to will myself to work hard for once. Am I retarded?
>>2660276
Why is every one except for the first and third hot garbage?
>>2660276
If you have to ask yourself if you're retarded. You're probably just half retarded.
Doing a year of FDZ is around 50k-60k $
The question you shouls be asking is, can I even aford it?
I'm seriously considering buying the ipad pro.
I'm in love with that stylus/pencil.
I thought it'd be shit for the iOS alone, but it has some good apps, namely sketchbook pro and procreate, both of which I think can save as .psd
Convincing me to buy this if you have it is also acceptable 2bh

>Can't torrent
>No SD card option

But if you are going for a portable graphic tablet and don't care for a soldered, bastardized, proprietary, piece of shit, then go for it. Is probably your best option, but a better option too is to get a fucking notebook and draw traditionally on it. unfortunately doesn't have software only stuff like a battery life or lag, but you can still draw on it and just scan your drawing with a scanning app with whatever phone you already had.

Slowly I'm hearing of more and more people talking positively about them from an artist's perspective. It'd be great for painting practice at coffee shops... infact just thinking about that right now is making me want one too.
Awhile back someone posted a file of Jia's high resolution paintings where you could see his every brush stroke. Does anyone have that file/ more of his high res art?

I'm pretty poor
>/r9k/
I make about as much as a cg animator in Japan. So I'm poor by American standards, but I'm reminded that it could always be worse. Considering I'm doing a menial, no-skill job it's not too bad. I work in a small store so I'm able to draw a bit on the job too which is nice.
>>2665342
If we are talking about my own money that I made myself and noone gave me loans or parents-wise. I'm probably in the animator catagory. I have an on campus job, and although it's the highest paying student job on campus, it's not much. We are given free housing(which is hella nice) and a stipend each semester. But that's it.
Daily reminder you don't have to be a god tier artist to be successful.
came to lurk to boost my spirits, then I see this.
Thanks anon
>>2662263
but what if my definition of success is becoming a god tier artist?
>>2662263
Not. Gonna. Make it.
John Buscema > Loomis
At least I learned how to draw faces instead of spending two months drawing nothing but gooks and still having a hard time at doing realistic faces.
john "same face" buscema
guess what you're not going to make.
>>2666548
>Implying Loomis doesn't do same face.
>needing to "construct" your drawing
All methods like these do is kill your drawing's gesture.
How do you properly do a master study, /ic/?
I try to copy from my favorite artists and masters and that's all it feels like, blind copying.
Yet I see people like Vilppu copying from the masters and they somehow know exactly how they drew it, why they drew it that way, etc etc
>>2666085
It is copying but with intent. It really depends on what you're trying to understand from whatever you're studying. It can be composition, value, colors, line, etc. Focus on one aspect and try to understand how it's done by the artist and eventually some things will click and you'll see things you wouldn't have known before.
>>2666086
This. It's still copying, but while paying attention to the nuances behind it.
>>2666085
>copy
>try again from memory
>check your mistakes to see what you didnt get
>repeat for 5+ years

Hey peeps, just looking for a bit of critique on this animation I did. What did you like? What didn't you like? What should I work on in the future? Thanks!
That was just a bunch of random shit awkwardly stapled together. You can have a psychedelic video wich makes sense, you just gotta have a narrative, even if it’s weird as hell. Look up felix colgrave
i like it

nice.
