About 18 months ago now I hurt my hand, I was pretty sure it was some sort of RSI but by the time the NHS got around to doing any tests it was much better so they ended up shrugging and saying it didn't look like anything was wrong.
Anyway it seems a lot better nowadays but there's still times when I get aches and pains and it cramps up a lot if I do anything too fiddly, problem is I really want to get back into drawing but I'm terrified of fucking up my hand again.
Anyone have any experience with RSIs/carpal tunnel or that sort of thing? Is 18 months a typical recovery time because although it's much better my hand still doesn't feel the same as it used to and I'm doubting it ever will. I used to draw holding the pencil the same way most people write, would switching to that overhand grip (since I'm going to be basically starting from scratch anyway) be the best way to avoid future injuries?
no one?
>when you feel pain, rest
>after a big period of rest, do recovering exercises
give your body time to adapt to long schedules

My hand lights on fire and starts shaking if I draw too much which is just about everyday
I just take painkillers and dull the pain and keep on working
Set your tablets pressure sensitivity to max if that's what you're using avoid using your wrist for drawing/painting
also you could look into carpal tunnel braces, The pressure is soothing.
Opinions of DrawABox?
Being free is its only redeeming quality.
>>2666604
It's free. You get free critique. Just do it if you don't plan on reading sticky.
>>2666604
Pretty good for beginners since you get someone to correct your mistakes. Better than /ic/ critiques that's for sure. Drawabox takes you through a ton of stuff, even figure drawing, so you should learn a lot if you go through the course.

Can someone explain to me who the fuck this "artist" is and why he's so popular (and rich)?
All of his work looks like it's barely above beginner level.
He got recommended to me by twitter and he has like 60k followers.
Also, pic related. What the fuck.
I'm so confused.

Did you draw this in MS paint with a mouse?
I'm not saying that as an insult, I mean it as a compliment, it looks exactly like it was done with that squiggly tool.
Polished turd?
where the polish
that's not even polished

I mean im not bashing on him or anything but how can he draw for like 30 years and still not be that great.. There must be no God. That or he's one lazy motherfucker
What's the general consensus on using tools with drawing/sketching, not just digitally but also paper tools like rulers, compasses, protractors, etc. For instance, if I were to draw a head right now, I'd draw a circle with a vertical and horizontal line going through the middle.
I only ask because I know one of the most basic principles of drawing relies on drawing lines and shapes, such as circles, and this feels like an easy cheat away from that.
>>2668125
Use whatever tools you need. A ruler and compass won't magically let you draw a perfect head.

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Looking to buy some nicely detailed, nice size maybe 6-12 inches anatomy refs.

This one looks good for a body, but I havent found one for a head. I am open to both body (male/female) and heads though.
Please post any links you guys have to body/head models, thanks!

Get an Asaro head. You'll get more milage from the simplicity of the planes than you would from a detailed head.
>>2668422
my bad bumped before I saw this. I cant find a place to order it online, im not sending a check in like a neanderthal. But I agree that itd be great to just have the basic planes in front of me.. The biggest thing right now that fucks me is the eyes. I cannot fucking draw both eyes in the right perspective, i can do an ok eye in any perspective but not the second. So one thing im really looking for are nicely made/sculpted eyelids because i really want to have that in front of me and just draw from it for days

In order to succeed as an independent artist, you need to have an identity and stand out, probably through unique or risky work.
But in order to get a job, you need to have a solid portfolio with a clean, relevant and skilled work history. If an employer sees strange and risky work tied to you, you might get passed over in favor of someone else. Doing independent work requires you to be different, but being different also closes other doors, forcing you to choose one or the other.
Of course this wouldn't apply to more popular and established artists, who can basically do whatever they want.
I guess the question is, should you use a pseudonym for art that isn't career-relevant + curated and tied to your normal identity?

What is /ic/s opinion on drawing tablets?
Has anyone used one before? I'm thinking it would be a good way to practice graffiti.
Pic related is the Wacom Intuos tablet im thinking about buying.
>>2665032
I've had a wacom graphire 4, intuos 4 xl, intuos 5 m and intuos pro L.
Intuos Pro L has been the best so far in terms of being the most comfy to use tablet. Pick up whatever intuos tablet you want because they do the job and get you used to drawing on a tablet.

Show me silhouettes you drew.
Did these a little while ago, first time I did silhouettes.
Also, whats a good place to learn about silhouette design? I watched the foundation patreon video on it by john park and it was pretty helpful. Any other stuff you guys would recommend?
What's the point of silhouettes? Does it help with something?
