Is it worth subscribing to? How does it stack up with other online art sites like Drawing Tutorials Online or New Master's Academy?

It's okay for people who are still at a level where they watch mark Crilley videos, but new masters is leagues better

This is the work of one of their instructors, so make of it what you will.

I-is this what having the spark looks like?
What are some examples of fine art that can be created as fast and easily as simple cartoon characters?
here you go
As a beginner I hear a lot how you have to draw what you see.
I've gotten just a bit further along now and people recommend things like understanding form and perspective.
Since I'm still shit at it, trying to keep these theories in mind makes my reference drawings worse than if I just copied what I saw. Is this normal?
Where does drawing from reference end and drawing from knowledge begin? You just have to get used to mixing them whenever you do either reference or imagination, right? Like how cast studies improve proportion sensibilities when constructing heads, or on the other hand how knowing light theory helps break down shadows from a reference image.
Sorry if these are dumb questions, just wanna make sure I'm getting this right.

OP here, wanted to add:
So it'd kind of be like how KJG or Vilppu have no trouble drawing figures from imagination because they've done so many from life, and how they'd also be able to draw people from life well because they've constructed so many.
>>2676189
Short answer: Draw more poses/figures, pick some fashion mag or google and keep at it regularly.
Long answer
1.Learn to trace for linework "to improve your line work"
2. learn to draw shapes
3. referenced drawing/fanart
4. freestyle and learn techniques
5. keeping drawing
6.focus on your weakness, eg if you suck at poses then draw more poses regularly.
I can do mid level genga keyframes but shit at hands and hair, so I attacked my weakness.
/ic/ spouts too much rhetoric but the main thing is get strong with your drawing mechanics then apply knowledge to it as you get better.

When you draw from knowledge, you're no longer drawing what's in front of you. When you draw what's in front of you, all you should see are lines and shapes, colours and values. We're turning 3D into 2D. This is purely an observational drawing.
Learning form and construction go hand in hand and are used to be able to draw objects that we *understand*. When you understand an object, you can draw it from any angle in theory because you have the form and construction fundamentals solidly placed.
So to answer your question, they are completely separate things. To better do observational drawing thinking in form rather than shape is often better, because you understand *why* each line is placed like it is, etc, and even if it's not exactly what you see, it's so close that barely anyone would notice.
However, both are important skills I'll argue. Doing purely observation drawing (shape more than form) helps you learn proportion and placement fundamentals a lot faster, because you are literally just drawing lines and having no help from anything else. In reality though, envisioning things as being 3D as you draw them is very powerful, and when you get them learnt properly make it easier to draw things you see, and create your own.
Draw from observation for proportion and placement practise, and with form and construction (and probably perspective, because it's useful to understand for these) you should break the objects down and understand them, before drawing them is my answer to your question. :)
My first drawing after 3 years of laziness.
I know it's shit but I really want to improve my skills, so can you give me some advice?

No. I know this looks like a bait but it isn't. I really want to improve myself.
This is a thread for all things that are not related to the human figure, due to the current Reference -general always being filled with nothing but figure drawing.
Post photo references of anything you've taken yourself or discovered from the internet.
>I observe things all the time. [...] I’m always collecting visual resources. I observe them carefully on daily basis, almost habitually. I study images of all sorts and genres.
>I work without reference, but it doesn’t mean I never look at them. I just don’t work « based » on pictures or don’t copy them. I observe references all the time and try to memorize them all.
>As I have noted above, more references and experience will make better works.

What art school do you/did you go to, /ic/?
How do you like it?
I go to Gnomon. We have 10 week terms, 6 classes per term and I do art literally 80 hours a week. I hate myself and I want to die and I'm not sure how I was even accepted.

Is Art School worth it?
I would like to be able to focus soloely on art instead of a random focus like university programs, but I don't know how the mental and physical toll will affect me.
>>2665875
I don't even know anymore. My ability to draw has fucking increased so much in the mere 17 weeks I've been going that I just can't even comprehend it but the mental toll is too real. Every time finals week rolls around I spend every day thinking about killing myself.
Finish my comic strip, /ic/. What happens to him in the bathroom? Will draw the best answer. Its gotta fit into the rest of the page.

Post aestethic world war 1 and 2 propaganda.
Look at this shit. Evil af.
What are aesthetics and are people doomed to have shitty tastes even if they are technically sound as an artist?
What exactly makes something kitsch and tacky?
Or does creating the distinction between "low art" and "high art" actually hurt art as a medium?
>what makes something look good by design ,no
>following trends
>yes, it breeds elitism on both sides
Hi /ic/!
~3 weeks ago I started going to a art class near my house. I've been doing some blind contour drawing and I got better at drawing, but in the end I want to draw digitally, luckily a friend of mine gave me pic related, he told me used it for a rythm game that I don't remember the name.
Now the question is, should I use this tablet or is it way to small to draw?
>>2672766
I've seen people drawing on their Iphones, it's fine.
>>2672766
I use this tablet and it's fine.
Currently using this tablet, been using it for 3+ years and been surviving way longer than other wacom tablets
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

How good do you have to be before people will start supporting you on Patreon?
What rewards should you offer?
How much money are you making off it?

How much money are given to you monthly?
Patreon is not very logical. The right combination of untapped niche, self promotion, popularity and follower interaction and also ofc skill decide your success. You can max out one of those hardcore and disregard all others, and you'll probably find some success on patreon. The more you max the better ofc. But 'being good' is not as important as it might seem.
