Are his videos worth the money?
I've been trying to learn anatomy from the atlas book for artists, but I feel that I'm missing out on critical information in spite of this when I compare it to a proko video.
The book is starting to feel like it's only good for the insertions, functions, and origins. I need form too.

>The book is starting to feel like it's only good for the insertions, functions, and origins. I need form too.
Are you using Peck's book? He's best for those things though I do like those little pages of drawings between each section where he lays out tons of little gems of knowledge.
If you want form though look at Bridgman and Hampton.
>>2715648
Yes.
I agree it is a good book, but I need more information than those drawings alone on functionality. I've been comparing my prior torso studies to what's in the book, and I feel that I'm probably missing a lot of stuff.
I'm probably going to have to use Peck's book in conjunction with Bridgman.
I ran through all of the bones and got to the Torso then I decided something is a bit off to solely use his book despite how good it is. It's not the final solution, but it comes pretty close. It's really good for gaining a foot-hold in anatomy.
I haven't seen his premium videos, but his free ones always leave me feeling like I got the whole picture. Other instructables leave me with questions, wondering about things, etc.
/ic/ i'm losing sight in one eye will i still be able to paint when I lose half my vision? Will my depth perception be gone?
Don't be retarded, you don't even need depth perception to draw
>>2715519
Just wiggle your head side-to-side like a hawk.
>>2715519
Donato Giancola is blind in one eye. Some art historians believe that Rembrandt was too, though I'm not sure the validity of it. Charles R Knight was an artist who was legally blind in both eyes, one which was completely blind.
You'll be fine even if it will affect your depth perception a bit.
looking for feedback
here i got some pieces to look at
http://legodiego.tictail.com/
thoughts on these pieces?
i feel like your going for an off style but its not working that great for you. if anything work more with shapes and try to get a better grasp of color. it would at least help with it being more attracting to the eye. i guess keep experimentingf
WHAT FUCKING TEACHER GOT THE BRIGHT IDEA TO TELL TO HIS ''ART'' CLASS TO SEARCH FOR CRITIQUE ON THE INTERNET?

recommend something like ''illustration training'' or a less obvious to the english speakers, how /i/ has
Not sure if this is a relevant post to /ic/ but oh well.
For all you PS fags, how do you create this wonderful effect on my man Karl? Being an advent shitposter, I've found times where knowing how to do this effect would've given me and some others keks.
I've heard it's just a tunnel effect but even then, not sure what that means due to my poor understanding of PS or any photo editing software for that matter.
>>2719454
Havent used PS in a bit but i think its something along the lines of
Effects>blur>zoom blur
Dont have a copy to reference it right now though

Hey guys, I'm looking for a series of paintings of portions of houses that are wildly unnerving despite nothing obvious being the unnerving part. Can ya help me out?
Otherwise: creepy art thread.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj
>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

i took the liberty of hijacking it to insert the fixed sticky.

What are /ic/'s thoughts on Loish?
>>2712575
Is that the girl that gets butthurt for criticizing and gets away with it cause she is a girl with a white knight army
>>2712580
you're probably thinking of cyarin who is basically a loish wannabe
>>2712575
First time on /ic
Wanna get into art, especially paintings, either abstract and/or with a backstory or something which relates to that artist or the time it was written in.
Where should I start?
Should I just visit museums or is there a place online where you can learn and look at paintings?
Pic related I really like this painting by Umberto Boccioni.
Read the the goddamn sticky you tool.
>>2719305
1. Read the sticky.
2. Draw and paint from life as often as you possibly can. This should take priority over working from photos.
3. Look at art by a wide variety of artists, not just those of one genre, style or movement. See what others have done throughout history, and what others are doing now, and why. Visit galleries whenever you can -- it's important to see the originals rather than photographic reproductions.
4. Read books on art (history, theory, technique).
Become first the drawer and the painter, and be humble and curious like a child, and the artist shall take care of itself.
>>2719305
wikiart+wikipedia should be enough to get you started learning about art history. you can't replace going to real galleries and museums though. Still, museums are more about experiencing the work than learning the backstory and artist bio.
Is anyone here into stencil printing? Do you have some advises to print a big one with a normal A4 printer? Thanks in advance
and any oder knowledge is welcome :)
>>2719232
to do bigger stencils you can always use image splitters which you can easily find on google. It splits in image into sections so that you can make bigger stencils. But of course you gotta tape them together since they are split up.
there was a tutorial for all stencil related shit in an infographic spread on /b/ as part of some operation, that was on 2009
I don't know man
>guy wants me to collaborate with him on his comic book
>asks ?do you also do ink and color"?
If he's asking me to draw the whole thing AND color it, wouldn't it make sense to draw the whole thing digitally from scratch?
I could understand if he just wanted pencils, but if he wants me to ink it and color it as well, I might as well skip the traditional penciling and inking part and just do it digitally right?
>>2718598
What are you really asking here
>>2718756
In the comic book industry, traditionally there is a penciler, an inker and colorist (usually a digital coloring done in photoshop). However this client is asking me to do all three. If that is the case, wouldn't it make sense to just draw it from scratch digitally if that's the final product he wants? I'm just thinking in terms of the work process.

What does /ic/ think of this. Anything I need to work on
Are these threads reportable yet?
how do these people even find /ic/
Oh Lord Jesus in Hell !! How do you even start to critique something like this?
Is there a name for the genre of this kind of art that revolves around skeletons, motorcycles, guns, roses and death? Everyone knows the type of art I'm talking about, but I've never heard of the name of the actual genre.
Pic related, obviously not mine, just something that popped first from GIS.
If there's no name, I'm going to call the genre "badass".

And it often never was in the first place.
Yet people continue to worship the human form like being the 1000th person to draw an accurate portrait is gonna get them anywhere in the current year.
You will never make it until you give up that delusion.
>>2718700
Who asked?
>>2718701
You're not gonna make bro.
You don't need to be an example though.
>>2718703
Why wont i make it? How am i being an example in any way whatsoever?
Maybe dont make shitty threads so you can feel smart.
I have question to artists who draw sexually suggestive art/straight-up smut regularly. I know a lot of you here do.
You find yourself dealing with sexually stimulating imagery for long hours every day. Even if it's something subtle like girly legs and a skirt, you are sitting in total focus, in the flow, staring at it for long hours. Do you find it affects your mental state somehow?
It's not like you're edging watching porn all day, but it's related for sure. According to my diary, during the weeks I work with smut-related imagery, I become a bit sluggish. It's a feeling similar to stuffing yourself with too much simple carbs. Or the tired, unmotivated feeling after skipping gym a lot, not going out. It might be hormonal in nature.
Even though I love it and it pays some of my rent, I've been considering quitting because I feel like I'm getting these signals from my body. But then I remember there are all these artists who have been drawing more hardcore stuff from me for so much longer and somehow they keep going strong with a lot of passion. Especially the Japanese. How the hell do they do it?
At first I thought maybe they're horny teenagers and have a lot of energy. But I found out all the best ones are in their late 20s/early 30s. Then I thought maybe they don't look at their work sexually because they sublimate their desires. But then I look at their goddamn oversexualized drug-like porn drawings and laugh at myself for having that thought. Maybe they take coke, it would explain a lot
>diary
>simple carbs
OP confirmed for being a grill
>>2716925
what?
why should drawing porn influence the health of your body?
Maybe you just forget to sleep and eat properly when drawing for long hours. Because the subject should not matter for your health, that sounds just stupid.
>>2716941
Because of hormones, obviously.
The meme culture of /pol/ is, by far, the best success I've had as an artist. I've been making OC Pepes for Trump support and in general, and nothing beats seeing one reposted there. It's like being Goebbels and having your work become significant as propaganda. But, it's not as simple as it seems. I've seen a lot of flawed shoops of MAGA hats onto anime girls and awoo faces, so we could clearly do better. They've never even heard of Loomis, and rarely use perspective. Also. Pro-Hillary Pepes are being produced all of a sudden on /pol/, and I'd also like to take the time to ask around about any differences you notice about them, in case I'm missing something about the way these are made to spread.
>>2715539
>pro Hillary pepes
CTR much?
Malaysia drew the Hillary meme, which is pretty self-explanatory
Look at this typical plastering of a 3DPD MAGA hat. I'd try to do better, but all I usually do is traditional media or a simple Photoshop Draw app.
