Looking for more concepts to practice.. Monsters/creatures
So I see this painting on the tv series Mad Men. A colourful impressionist cityscape and thought it would be a nice thing to put on my wall. I looked for years but couldn't find the artist's name. Forum queries remained either unanswered or led me on wild goose chases. I did some digging the other day and send an email to a stage prop leasing company in LA. Asking them if they knew of it. They said they didn't but gave me the name of another prop leasing company. I emailed them but they never answered. A day later the guy emails me back and tells me he found it and sends me a link to a low resolution image of the painting on this other leasing companies' website. I contact this company and after a lot of back and forward they say they will sell me a print of the painting. After weeks of waiting I am yet to hear from them and I am not surprised, I think they just can't be bothered. So I remembered a show I watched online about a town in China where the villagers paint authenticate looking copies of anything. So I got a price from them for $160.
Its frustrating when you are fixated on desiring to own something and can't get your hands on it. Not sure if its worthwhile pursing the China thing but it might be a means to the end. Its a shame those dudes in LA just don't give an arse.
Another basic concept I made. Enjoy!
Why'd you lewd the teacher from the cramp twins
I've started creating artwork to put on tshirts, anyone think it looks alright?
What difference is there in character between "fine art" and commercial advertising?
Where do I go to learn about proper comic paneling construction?
the mccloud books aren't that thorough when it comes to page layouts, if you want a more in depth education on them, i'd recommend the strip panel naked youtube channel
and Jesse Hamm's comic tip twitter account. (he's been at it for a couple years and if you read through his entire archive you'll learn a lot about making comics.)
Neither of these are 100% layout focused, or cover 100% of what it takes to make a good comic layout, but it's the best I've found so far.
this is the only board that pretends we're not all anonymous, and have petty quarrels as if our social media/linkedin are on the line.
it is the strangest thing ever.
You know that's a pretty interesting observation. I think /ic/ might be super tiny. I only come here once every few months because it's full of angry jerks, but everytime I do it's so small that I get the feeling that even being anonymous a lot of people here /do/ know each other. It's that small. That even through text alone they know who is who sometimes. Then you've got your nosebros.
Also art style gives you away. If I posted my art I'd be recognized both here, and in some other places on 4chan.
Does it happen to you when you want to draw something and you know what you want to draw, but then you start drawing and some other idea comes to your mind, like, you look at your sketch and you tsee how you could a completely different thing out of it, and you like this new idea? But you like the old one too. And you just don't know what to draw. And you can't do both because they will be very similar. How do you cope with this?
Random pic cause I don't know what else to post.
>And you can't do both because they will be very similar.
Nobody tells me what to do, not even myself.
