Do you know any artists that paint the sort of tower blocks found in urban and post-soviet europe? I was born in Kaunas, and i find these places tremendously moving, but i find this artwork quite hard to come by. One example is David Hepher's work, but i would be interested in other styles as well.
hope this is the right place to ask, i usually stay in /lit/ and i didn't see anything in your rules against recommendation requests.
>>2875217
Fucking commie blocks, they are so disgustingly depressing.
>>2875217
those are disgusting.
But yeah, you can make the artwork yourself, can't you? If you can't find anything about them.
>>2875217
Stålenhag has done a few pieces with similar architecture, although he is primarily inspired by 80's-90's Sweden
what's the point of learning from life drawing or "imagination" when you can just trace? technology has changed art, no one cares about shitty charcoal drawings or imitations of old masters.
No one cares for traced art either
>>2874690
You can't trace things that don't exist
>>2874690
Make an animation with only traced work. Make one of a cat. Make one of a cartoon cat.
Your client commissions a piece with a specific pose, where you gonna trace that? Frankenstein everything?
Sooner or later you either won't be able to do something or will do something that looks shitty by tracing and your only hope will be to freehand it, and you'll have no skills to do so because you traced everything.
Tracings fine once in awhile to learn from but it should never be your focus.
Plus yknow it's not legal unless you made whatever you're tracing from in the first place so better have money for models or enjoy royalty free resources that people will recognize.
Well /ic/ has anyone asked to see your work?
>>2874456
I was actually pretty devastated when someone showed me their work that they have never shown anyone else then asked to see mine. I have nothing finished nor on a blog so I didn't have anything to show. Now I've been in constant guilt of how to do a finished piece and finally show that I'm not a poser.
>>2874456
I share my sketches with my flatmates often. They like em, but they're not artists so it's not like they're critique is useful, not that it's anything other that "oh that's neat!" but it's a conversation subject and socializing and things.

woops, their*
>dell canvas coming soon
Please for the love of all that is holy don't let this be a piece of shit. I am so tired of wacom's anti-consumer practices (shit customer service, need USB-C to use the new cintiqs, elitist brand image)
All I want is for this to not be shit and give wacom a run for their money
>>2873502
>needs usb c
How is that bad? They've actually used modern hardware this time
>>2873523
it blocks off a massive amount of people who don't have one (aka PC users). It's not consumer friendly and the current USB-C converters are very expensive and many are reported to not work at all with the new cintiqs.
not offering the ability to use hdmi or a normal displayport is pretty fucked.
>>2873502
>shit customer service, need USB-C to use the new cintiqs, elitist brand image
Don't forget the nibs and holding the rights to the very concept of an unpowered stylus.
I /ic/, first time posting on this board
I'm a heroin IV user
(on methadone for now, but I still shoot a couple of bags once a week)
When I'm "waiting for the man" and in slight withdrawal, I like to pop a few xanax bars and draw.
I never put them online, so I figured why not start on 4chan?
I've been posting on this website for 11 years (and learned English thanks to it)
but never on this particular board, so to introduce myself....
>>2873261
first time visiting this board, and I like your drawing.
I like the use of colour and your model is mostly on point.
sucks you do drugs, i mean, I'm most artistic when I'm fucked up, but also at my worst in every other way. Hope you get clean.
>>2873264
Anyone else likes to draw to take the edge off when in slight heroin withdrawal?
Or any other drugs...
Weed kills my creativity, so I stick to Xanax and Valium, sometimes waking up with a finished "piece of art" next to me, it's pretty weird
Post your battle stations boys.
I'm a fucking pleb.
Does a book on the floor and sometimes on a couch and sometimes on a bus count as a battle station?
>>2871610
>not using kneaded/electric eraser
apply yourself my dude
how do you get into the habit of building a process and finishing shit. I can't stop scrapping everything i make.
I mainly do sketches, but I keep them, even though they usually stay unfinished. You don't have to scrap everything.
You finish things no matter what.
Not everything.
But enough to make it a habit you can do.
Anyone a infustrial designer here? Im gonna be goin to citytech in nyc for it.
Any advice/ knowledge?
>>2870962
I am about to transfer to ID at my school. From what I hear, the majority of the students in the program, at least here, do not have any artistic ability and are just posers who could not get into art school.
>>2872487
Does this mean people with artistic ability and math abilty are at an advantage?
>>2872487
Do you know about AutoCAD and stuff? What skool?
What do I do about sweaty hands, lads? For my whole life they have been fine but since last year they have been sweating harder than usual and it's starting to get annoying.
Do I just wear gloves? Is there some magical treatment for them?
>>2866925
it's called palmar hyperhidrosis, and there is no cure or permanent treatment. you just have to adjust and adapt, which is easier said than done. I have it too and it's a total bitch :/
you could wear gloves, or maybe adding a sheet of (thick) paper between your hand and work should suffice.
>>2866925
just turn the room temperature down fuking wanker
>>2866936
mate it would be a blessing if it was because of that, they just start sweating after I start drawing regardless of temperature
Post your favorite drawing by people from this board.

can I get a tip or a critique please?
>>2875053
Not sure if legit or just shitpost but here's my two cents none the less.
The thumbnail looks like a chest with a high belly button.
> no value variation
>bad anatomy
>amateur line quality
> over all hyper shitty concept.
To critique beyond that would be to say start over the whole piece. You're very clearly trying to do a drawing with no understanding of what you're drawing. That is the classic mis step of an amateur. My generic advice is to hard core practice the fundamentals as all amateurs must do if they want to not be amateurs anymore.
Now stop posting this.

git gud
Is it bad that I like the left pic more?
>>2874126
you can like whatever you want, just dont get bitter if people have different taste to you

Where is the source of this image?
>>2874128
The one on the right is an old photostudy by Ruan Jia
Hey guys, I am really struggling with details and line work. Anyone know what to do to practice these things? What I mean by details are like eyes at a really small size or the texture of the hair. I'll post a few examples
Here is another picture I did as well. The mane on the lion, the hair on the angle, and the eyes of both I just dont know how to get down at that small of a size. I'm doing the fundamentals on schoolism.com right now.

What program are you working with?
How do you determine the amount of money you charge when you sell some of your artwork?
el bumpo
A few questions to ask yourself:
>What is the cost of materials?
>How many hours did it take to create?
>What has my art sold for in the past?
>What does artwork of similar size and skill sell for in the local market?
>How much do I like the work?
>Do I like it enough to use it for future shows and exhibitions, even juried shows that allow me to make money through prizes while retaining the artwork? Do I want to display it as part of a larger body of work in the near future?
>What price is low enough for me to feel regret after selling the work?
Have it be appraised by mr. Shekelstein, he'll tell you exactly how much money you can screw people out of in exchange for your doodles.
>draw from the shoulder, use clean lines, avoid chicken scratches!
>most professional artists do none of those things
>learn by studying the fundamentals!
>most professional artists start off by copying other artists they like
>artists who don't end up with strong fundamentals but zero imagination or style of their own like proko or sycra
what was meant by this?
>>2873443
And today OP, you learn the golden rule:
>Do as they say, not as they do
>>2873443
the blind leading the blind
>>2873443
Did Feng say these things? Why are you confused?
>draw from shoulder advice
This is taken out of context usually. It's recommended when in life drawing classes working on large newsprint pads. It's meant to get you to loosen up and treat the drawing as a whole with longer rhythms. Obviously you don't draw from the shoulder when working in a pocket sized moleskine.
>use clean lines, avoid chicken scratch
Most pros do this. You can almost always tell the skill level of an artist by their line quality alone.
>most pros start by copying other artists
Most artists start this way.
