Any good books that teach you how to draw manga/anime.
I have learned the major planes of the head and how to draw it at any angle, but I can't translate that into a more anime style. I only care about the face, since the anatomy is fundamentally the same.

You know we're not a book store right?
Good taste though. Just copy what you see. It's the quickest way. Hope to see your work soon.

I really don't recommend using a book. 1) It's a waste of money. 2) literally get a tumblr or deviantart and learn from people there. And just practice really. No one is born a da Vinci.

I love the man's work, his subject matter and rendering is super cool and I have no idea what to study in order to get to his level. His personal site: http://t-com.moo.jp

What's so difficult about this?
You should already know it'll take you years to achieve. If you haven't spent years yet, then you don't give up.

His skill is pretty awesome but I really dislike that camera angle.

Could anyone advice me on decent monitors for digital painting? My local shop only offers me -

Dell UltraSharp UP2716D and
Dell UltraSharp UP2715K
which seen to me like the best two I could choose (leaning towards the 16D price wise).

But I believe I could also order one from Amazon.

Which monitors do you use? What an advice could you offer me regarding specs I should pay attention to?

Do Cintiqs offer a good alternative to a high end monitor? Should I invest in one instead? (for example, the mobilestudio pro 16 seems pretty nice, and I could afford it.)

Just make sure they're IPS and get a color calibrator, especially if you're looking to print.
>>
>>2876141
I can absolutley recommend the mobile studio 16
It has ips and rgb 96%

Haven't used a color calibrator yet
Is spyder pro a good choice?
>>
>>2876141

i madea thread just like this a few months ago and was directed at some LG alternative to the ultrasharp U2715H (which is what I was also considering initially). In the end I browsed a fuckton of reviews and felt like the LG was better and cheaper. But I forgot which model it was lol.

>>2876166
which color calibrator do you recommend? the spyder has very mixed reviews (and I always suspect atleast half of positive reviews to be bought).

I just can't started on my drawing grind. I used to be good at art when I was younger but many years have let the skills atrophy. I've read the sticky etc and I know what I need to do long-term but it's just that initial push-off that I need. What do I draw? What's the best things to try to sketch at the beginning? Any tips would be great

Unhelpful meme.
>>
>>2876029

Well what do you want to draw? What did you plan on drawing in the first place that made you want to begin grinding? Its hard to give advice when we have no idea what your goal is. I'd say just start there, draw whatever pleases you first, build momentum and then you'll begin getting a clearer picture of what else specifically you need to work on.

It's vexel art. "No Face Vexel Art"

I have been thinking about reasons why I procrastinate. The biggest one is that I don't draw anything that I can't show to people after it's finished. So it's hard for me to do work that I can't showcase and because of that I do only very limited stuff.

How can I overcome this wrong thinking? It's really crippling my desire to just draw, since it seems useless if I can't show it to anyone.

Why don't you have an online sketchbook?

And a blog/instagram for your own work?
>>
Don't work to showcase, work and then decide if you're going to showcase it.

That's what I do anyway.

>The biggest one is that I don't draw anything that I can't show to people after it's finished
So sort of like this, except I don't finish drawings that I can't show to people after they're finished. You don't need much time to just bounce some ideas off the paper and see if they'll work out.
>>
>>2875977
make the ppl you want to show it to only you for a while

and you do that by destroying everything you do after you saw it done

What do you guys think of my comic? It's heavily anime inspired, I'm really happy with the perspective and characters in this one.

Not bad, but there's plenty of room for improvement in every aspect of it.
Composition, storytelling, figure and landscape drawing, color theory, values, etc etc.
Git gud, draw more.
>>
>>2875708
The perspective is wrong in the third panel, you shouldn't be able to see that plateau, it's above the horizon line (simple rule of thumb: horizon line is the height of your own eyes/camera).

There's only a faint hint of perspective in half of the panels, and none in the other half. If you worked on your perspective and actually included features in your images to display your knowledge of perspective, you'd be presenting something much easier to enjoy.

Like this guy said >>2875782 you've got room to improve every aspect of your comic, but I think you should work on your perspective first, because I get the feeling it's something you're interested in, and I think you only need to move a little bit in the right direction for noteworthy improvement.

There are tons of videos on youtube on the subject of perspective, and probably plenty of resources in the sticky. I haven't seen this but it was one of the first results, and it's probably good enough: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBiW8y5LSHK425SYwHDIcLhXux8PfSzkw

I'm assuming there's some missing context here, but I can't tell what's actually supposed to be happening in these thirteen panels (Is that supposed to be a complete barrier? All of the characters are on the same side of the barrier? what are they retreating for?), and the dialog is equally confusing. So I would recommend the next thing you work on is storytelling. Try to think in terms of what your viewer is seeing, not what you're trying to tell them.

These are clear glass cabochons or those melted glass marble blobs you get a a craft store for vases. The round-pupil ones have a printed iris affixed to the backs. The vertical slit pupils are drawn directly on the back of the cabs (probably with permanent marker), then a patterned iris is affixed to it. The round bezel cups with soldered pendant bales can be obtained from Fire Mountain or Rio Grande. You'll want to use a very clear 2-part jeweler's epoxy.

They can also be made with a precisely planned black-dichro-clear fused glass triplicate plate, then cutting squares and re-firing until round. These ones weren't though.

Am I doing wrong with buying pic related? Found the Wacom Bamboo Fun for a cheap price. I noted that there are newer models and also the intuos with a higher sensitivity(?).
Apart from the buttons is there any significant difference between cheap bamboo and expensive intuos?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2874948
I hope that's a medium size at least because the small bamboo requires drawing with a wrist only.
>>
>>2874955
It's the small one
>>
>>2874948
Gonna sound really sappy for a second, but the only real difference is what you do with the tablet. Yes some have more pressure sensitivity or a bigger and percise workspace than others, but the art that comes out of using any tablet comes from the effort you make with it.

Just buy the cheaper one.

Scanned in some high resolutions photos of my work and would like to know what you think about my style?

It would be much appriciated since it helps me to get motivated when other people tell me shit about my art even if its bad or not.

From Berserk, did it on A4 papper with a Unipen 1.0. Took me very long time and did this for study because I learned to control my lines much better with this drawing.
>>
>>2874883
Yes I know thats the worst thing with working with inkpens but also the best because when you do misstakes it forces you to work with that mistake so you end up thinking very creative in that matter because you find creative solutions for your problem! So I did the best and had to work around the mistakes, I drew some unnecessary lines which fucked up the whole face :(

Post anatomy breakdown type drawings that are meant to help people understand the structure of the human body.

I'll dump some for reference.

~120 active users
~600 lurkers

Whenever I post mediafire link, it gets up to 300-500 downloads. Assuming not everyone downloads the files I post we are looking at least ~900 people who come to this board on a daily basis with only 80 people who actively post daily who are power users.

Their level is good. Their composition kind of sucks and their rendering isn't as good as it could be, but their line work is pretty nice. Although, it's not really something you should be shooting for because you'll be a level under this person. But yeah, study up your fundamentals.
