Okay guys, I am a sculpting beginner and I think I've made a mistake by starting with polymer clay. What I need is something that can be permanent on its own, without having to make a casting or a mold or whatever. What does /ic/ think?
>>2879774
If there was such a thing and handled better than polymer clay, everybody would be using it and polymer clay producers would not sell polymer clay. If you're a beginner it will be a while before you make something worth keeping anyway.

Very helpful thanks
You can always start with cheap bars of soap. All the flakes wash away and its small and portable. Of course there is wood or wax out there but they have their own complications that may be saved for later. Sculpting potatoes can be weird and fun: after a while they oxidize and shrink a great deal and almost turn rock-like for a while (but eventually crumble). Start with cheap soap* Its easy to get and you dont have to feel bad if your piece is irreparable cuz you can just take it to the shower ^_^
i practiced critique now please
love all my fans xoxo

"Military cemeteries in every corner of the world are silent testimony to the failure of national leaders to sanctify human life."
1994 Nobel Peace Prize lecture (10 December 1994)
This piece was created as a collaboration between Benjamin Jancewicz and Alex Fine.
Nice shill. Really made me think.
How good is to copy other artists works?
Not necesarelly tracing but trying to make a 1:1 copy.
>>2878599
Pretty good
>>2878599
dont copy, analyze
>>2878608
Do both.
Can we have a thread where we post landscapes? I want inspiration of good ones and learn a thing or two. Feel free to post your own landscape paintings too and any resources that can help everyone who is doing them.
I will contribute a few I like a lot and maybe what I'm doing in a day or two.
We all know of that tired old "guitar gets u chicks" meme. It isn't true anymore, but does this apply to drawing now? Does having the ability to draw well make girls more attracted to you? Has a girl ever shown interest in you because of your drawing skills? Share your experiences /ic/
Put it in reverse : if a girl who draws like Kim Jung Gi likes you, would you ask her out?
Or will you her body, clothes & manners attract you more?...
If you can answer this, you know the answer...
>>2874900
Are you 1. Attractive? If not then no. Are you 2. Passable looking but also psychologically desirable (alpha personality)? If not then no. Drawing for girls might work in highschool but it doesn't work in life.
>>2874945
Fuck yeah id like to breed with her. Imagine the superpowered ubermench artist babies we would have
>hurr durr I can draw
Seriously, why are pre-Renaissance artists so fucking bad?
Lack of any general anatomical knowledge, I'd assume
>>2873479
Because creating art is a worldly pursuit and you should be toiling in the fields and worshiping God, serf.
>>2873479
They didn't understand perspective. Arts and culture weren't thriving in the Medieval Ages.
The Renaissance was a rebirth of culture and learning. Patrons supported artists, artists grew by hanging around with other talented artists, study of roman/greek culture was renewed, linear perspective was created (1474).
The Medieval Ages was a regression of learning and art. There was much better shit made back in the Roman times. But the practices were lost due to the occurrences of history... I only know the generalities.
In general with art it's difficult to pull yourself up by your own will without knowledge. Social learning or instructional manuals is a huge aspect of developing artistic skill because progression in art has always been based on standing on the shoulders of giants. You take what the past generation figured out, you no longer need to solve those problems and are free to solve new ones. The Renaissance just enhanced and quickened this process and makes everything right before it look like shit
What do you guys think about Matt Khor(ctrl+paint) as an artist?
http://www.mattkohr.com/ his website btw
That's how you paint a cup

but that's a kettle
welp, so i got a huion h420 tablet. the installation is on a disc, but my craptop doesn't have a disc drive.
i transferred all the disc files to a flash drive, moved them to my computer, then tried to install from there. it appears to be installed, but when i plug in the tablet the LED doesn't light up and the pen pressure test doesn't even recognize the pen on the tablet.
what do?
you purchased anything other than wacom, there's your problem, now don't be a poor fag and throw this trash and go buy a fucking bamboo, or even better an intuos pro
>>2878950
sounds like its defective. got the same one from a friend and worked fine when I plugged it in.
also there's a clicker on top of the pen that disables/enables the tablet.
>>2878950
go on their website and just download it from there.
have zero issues with my huion
Painting by Bill Moran -- movingdot.tumblr.com
This is my bands new album's cover. You can critique it as a cover design but I'm mostly interested in what pros think of the painting. Personally I love it. Oil, about 20" x 30". Yes, the source material was amateur POV porn.

looks amazing, the text, not so much. contact him again and get him to choose the font size color.
>>2878926
Welp the text was my contribution
>>2878924
Looks great from thumbnail view, but the face is really poorly done. I think they should have either focused on correctly getting the proportions and alignment on things, or should have left it more shrouded in soft darkness so the features are not visible and it is left to the imagination. How much did you pay him for it? overall it's pretty good stuff and I'd be pretty happy if it's what I received.
What Is the best time to switch to a Wacom tablet?
>>2878898
When you want to learn digital painting
>>2878898
>switch
You mean there are other tablets that aren't wacom?
>>2878898
right now
talent doesn't exist.
>>2878660
You don't exist
Whether or not talent exists has no bearing on the course of action you should take if you want to be the best you can be.
Now go back to studying you faggots.
>>2878660
I know your talent doesn't
After drawing stuff from beginner thread for a month my eyes have improved a bit and all that passive shit. But I still can't draw a simple face, what was the point again? Sure, I can measure stuff better but it's pointless if I can't do anything on my own.
What do now? How do I start real learning?
keep doing what you are doing. the practices and studies but start doing your own shit from imagination. or do half and half. do your own shit from imagination but then fix it up using reference. Or find a image you like and change bits and pieces like the arm or leg placements and reference just the parts you changed. Your imagination work will look a lot shittier than your referenced work but that's how you'll get better. by drawing and discarding all that shit.
Can't remember what minute specifically that was, but i recommend you watching it all or using as a podcast. They talk alot about the specific problem you brought

Takes more than a month hombre
>artist gets mad when you ask him where he is with your commission after it's months old
Why do most artists have such thin skin and get easily upset when you ask about something you paid for?
How did you ask?
>>2877826
>Why do most artists have such thin skin and get easily upset when you ask about something you paid for?
Most don't. Maybe you should try hiring people who are actually professional instead of some kid off deviantart for $30.
>>2877831
>kids can make 30$ off their art while you make 0$
Really makes me think.
