How do you guys make sure that your productive while studying?
i notice while at home i seem to get distracted alot and dont get shit done.
I managed to get some decent progress while studying at the library, but people come up to me and ask to see my drawings and my autism kicks in and makes me wanna leave
not sure how to be more productive at home.

What is distracting you exactly? Remove that if you can.
I used to have a serious habit of reaching for the internet whenever I hit resistance in my work. I would just open my browser without even realising. I found the easiest way to get around that was just by removing whatever was distracting me, so I gathered any resources/references I thought I might need, saved them to my pc and unplugged my Ethernet cable. Made me way more productive.

If you find yourself itching to get back remove the phone too. And throw he cable or wifu connector somewhere you can't reach easily until you're done with what you've planned to do for the day.

So where do you get references for people in more conventional poses/situations? All the ones I found online are ones like pic related, they're good for study but not good for actually basing a drawing on.
I've been looking at cosplay photos because they're closer but I still wouldn't know where to find a reference for say how to draw someone sitting at a desk, reading a book, leaning on a wall waiting for someone, random real life things like that.

hey, i really need help with an animation i'm working on. I don't know if this is the best place to post this, but i'l do it anyway.
Basically, i need to animate a strand of hair calmly blowing in the wind. So far, the best way to approach it is to create the strand in Photoshop (i want it to be reasonably realistic), and then creating a scaffold of the animation in animate CC. Then, il import this animation into photoshop. I then create loads and loads of layers copies of the strand of hair, and space them out in the timeline so they correspond with 1 frame from the scaffold animation. I then transform each layer so that the strand matches up with the lines in the scaffold.
This is obviously very time consuming as i need hundreds of frames. originally i was thinking of using a video animation format in Photoshop instead of frame animation, however transforming a frame in that alters every single other one also.
Is there any other way to do this? Or will i have to create hundreds of layers and just grind it out and hope for a decent final work?

- What is going to be the end result of this animation? Will it be an animated GIF, will it be a short animation for YouTube or something like that? Basically, will it be something short that will be looped, or part of something bigger and you want to have more flexibility.
- What kind of software do you have at your disposal? Will you be able to get a trial version of other software should it be recommended?
- How long should the animation be? 5 seconds, 10, more? What will the framerate be? 24 frames per second, 30, more?

So I have been drawing my whole life casually and then 2 years ago I started training hardcore studying my fundamentals from ctrlpaint, hampton, bridgeman, yoh yoshinari, etc but despite this I just can't seem to get better, it's like i'm in a perpetual state of stagnation. I'm training like 6 hours day. I see people make fun of sycra's slow progress but I mean compared to that my progress is just embarrassing.

Don't really have anything to compare it to, but I like the OP pic especially. Just flesh it out more and refine it.
It really depends on how you think of a goal like 'progress'. If you're one of those people who thinks of it as going from scratch to kjg, obviously you're going to be disappointed; however, if you can, step back and think of things in a daily fashion. Little things. Strive to improve on something different every day for a week, and at the end of that week, review your progress. Perhaps culminate everything you've worked on into an entire illustration. Step back and see how you did. If you're dissatisfied with something, strive to improve that something at the beginning of next week-- and so on.
I find that the most progress comes when you're not focused on the actual act of progression, but when you sit down and simply enjoy what you're able to achieve on a daily basis.
Anyway I hope this helps. Sorry for my English if there are any mistakes. I wish you luck OP, we're all gonna make it.

this isnt actually how krenz and other artists paint, this >>2968816 is more accurate
but heres a skeezy quick shitty method to fuck with your colors -
make a new gradient map adjustment layer > spectrum > set layer mode to subtract > mess with the layer flow and opacity until colors look how you want (around 15% usually)
Also to get random color splotching
new layer set to overlay > bright saturated colors and a softish/texture brush > paint random points of saturation > lower layer flow/opacity to desired result
results wont look as good as hand painting it but it can give interesting effects. Also using an overlay layer and a redish color to go over edges and exaggerate subsurface scattering.
