Mexican muralism discussion.
Diego River a shit (i'm mexican btw)
Of all the muralists, Camarena had the best technique. Rivera was a hack painting decorative shit and ugly indigeous people. Siqueiros was decent and Orozco not that much.

Who is this one by?
Well /ic/, today I started reading Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain for the first time. Attached is my attempt at the famous upside-down image exercise.
Give it to me straight, friends: Can I make it?
>>2989213
Here's the image I referenced.
what made you think making your own thread was necessary
If you had to make a thread asking if you can make it after a single image I think it's safe to say the answer is no.
Any graffiti artists/taggers/street artists out here on the vast land of 4chan? Feel free to share your work here

Did you do that? Lol
Yeah people with strokes.
>>2988989
One kid at school did.
His name was Danny, but he was retarded so everyone called him Downy. He eventually just accepted Downy as his name. Even the teachers called him that.
>>2988989
only racist nazi bigots hold their hand like this.
Why would anyone want to leave the house to look at art like this when I can look at much better stuff like cool Manga art and digital masters like Sakimichan right from my computer at home?
Because seeing artwork in the flesh is very different from seeing it from your parent's basement.
>>2986796
Doesn't suddenly make shit art not shit however.
>>2986800
it does, it also makes some not shit art shit.
This type of images.
Can someone please give me advice on this topic?
I was recently commissioned to make an (adult) comic strip. The person paid me already and I've already sketched out the images for the comic. Now, three days later i get an email from his MOM. She's telling me that the person who commissioned the thing was her 15 year old son and now she wants a refund because apparently he used her card without her permission.
Now i'm pissed because this is the exact shit that I was trying to avoid.
Although i'd rather not give the refund at all, i'm considering giving a partial refund since I already put my time (the past two days) into this shit.
So please, what is the best coarse of action?
>>2988390
I would vote partial refund.
Your hours are already used up, you are trading your life hours and experience for money.
No refund since it's her dumb ass's fault that her kid got the credit card in the first place.
This is why payment is typically done in two or more stages, with the first being a non-refundable deposit.
Give back half of the money and say the other half is a deposit that won't be refunded.
Explain that your time is valuable and her fuckup doesn't make your time any less valuable.
Draw some kinky shit and send it to her telling her it's what she paid for. Make her son look like a freak as retribution for getting you in this mess.
What do you think about painting while stoned? Does it really make you more creative or is that just an excuse to smoke more pot?
>>2988369
The latter. I'm probably stoned more often than not when I paint. It's good for trudging through tedious sections of a painting, but it's not unlocking any doors that are shut to a sober mind.
personally i can't draw at all when i get stoned.

is a fact that it makes you more creative, the way weed works is that your brain deletes certain bits of perceptual information, because it's not useful for day-to-day monkey things. weed inhibits that process and gives you more information then you need, information you can do art stuff with. you can also think of more things, because different information leads you down different paths of reasoning, and instead of your brain saying, 'don't worry about that, it's not important' it lets your thoughts float about however they will. that's why people get paranoid on weed too. and why you might find that if you do something like play pool or a video game you do better stoned than you would sober.
Originally I kept most of my work to myself but then for a while I started sharing my work and immediately I found myself getting likes and comments and for a whole year I was completed addicted to the attention. I posted all my work and it was motivating but also stressful because people want you to produce great work and it's hard to produce great work if you get out of your comfort zone. So I found myself comfort zoning a lot and decided to go back to keeping my work to myself. It's kind of nice actually because I'm able to explore all sort of subject matter without worrying about it looking bad. At the same time, I'm finding that i'm a lot more "lazy" with my private work. Like it's not as polished and I don't really try as hard. So that's one of the drawbacks.
Well, shit, this seems to hit kinda close to home for me. Though, I think it happened a little more in the reverse order. I was perfectly content in drawing in a certain way, essentially a comfort zone, for a good period of time and posted almost everything I drew. As I got better though, and probably more aware of the mistakes I was making, I got more and more picky with what I decided to post, to the point where I've almost completely clammed up now and draw 90% for private use.

Are you me?
Farming tumblr likes is definitely addicting, and to some extent, I was only drawing because I thought that all the tumblr followers actually wanted to see me draw.
The novelty wore off and I just drew when I felt like it, and I stopped posting. Now I post just for myself so I can keep track of when / what I have drawn.
>without worrying about it looking bad
I just post everything I draw, sometimes it's shit, which helps maintain reasonable expectations of the quality I produce.
>>2981119
I relate to this so much. back in highschool I used to be somewhat good at drawing portraits so Id just draw portraits of celebs then post them on instagram for likes and attention from cute girls haha
for the past few years though ive been trying to draw more from imagination though. I actually ended up deleting the old instagram and making another one.
also, did you draw those drawings? I like them a lot!
What's your biggest art-related dream?
>>2974489
To be able to draw the cutest anime girls.
>>2974489
Be able to accurately recreate the image in my mind.
Frustrates me to no end that my faces come out as mangled, lumpy potatoes.
what do you guys think

It's... interesting
>>2989874
hot
I want to get better but I can't focus on any study, it's just so boring to me. When it's time to grind I stop after the first few pages. I can't do it for a long amount of time, I often stop halfway or rush through the process making many mistakes.
It's not an internet problem because I disconnect when I make time to draw.
The entirety of the learning process isn't supposed to be fun (on particularly difficult concepts) but a lot of it should be. Why force something you don't enjoy?
>>2989746
I want to git gud and the only way to make good progess is learn how things are done
I can't keep doodling my shit ass imagination drawings forever, I want to improve.
>>2989756
>I can't keep doodling my shit ass imagination drawings forever, I want to improve.
And why can't you? You understand the purpose of 90% of tutorials is to help you draw from imagination. It's simply tools to bring out what's from your head and onto paper. ALL YOU NEED ARE TOOLS, ANON!!
The other 10% is basically perspective.
if you got any upload them to me
Can't get them because I don't have CC or Paypal

I wonder about what future art historians will say about tumblr artstyle
it was revolutionary
>>2983894
It depends what society in the future is like.
nothing
This is your drawing reference for the day
