Am I an artist, /ic/?
>>3011591
No, but you're a shitposter.
>>3011591
This expresses the joie de vivre of a late Spring day. I think you're ready for the etching board, anon.
Anyone up for a collab thread? It's been a while since we've had one of those.
>>3005916
>>3005923
might contribute on this onetoo after work
>>3005923
Can we have an AA thread from the perspective of ic? There's always one in cgl, but I'm curious to get ic's experience, since most of you don't see anime as real art.
Have any of you ever done it before? How much did you make? Did you do any "cheating" because you didn't care (trace, quantity over quality, ect.)?
>>2997571
That image makes me really sad. Is that guy okay?
>>2997571
I have gazed into the abyss.
>>2997605
No, anon. He appears to be morbidly obese, mentally ill, unskilled and unable to support himself.
Hi /ic/,
A few months ago, I was drawing 9-10 hours a day, now for two months I can only manage 1 hour a day.
I mostly just watch youtube videos.
Not sure how to get around this. Read about six books and none of them work. Maybe, I need to ban the internet itself.
Why don't you draw?
Take away distractions and set a timer where you are productive for X period of time
Gradually increase that time as you get used to it
>>3011679
I don't know man.
Read these book
The power of now
The war of art
The Chimp Paradox
Eat that frog
Mastery both books
The only decent book was Deep Work, which suggest I should just disconnect from the internet 95% of the time.
Hey /ic/, just need your honest opinion and input on this tattoo rough sketch I'm getting, its my first one. Its going to be a lot more detailed but this is the general idea.
I would like to get some honest feedback on whether or not this is awful or decent, and what you believe I should add onto this as I am very new to tattoos.
One of the reasons I am getting this is it relates to my job as an RN.
Its ok.
I would avoid bothering with more detail. Skin as a medium tends not to hold the detail for a long time. Avoid having linework without a clear and defined negative space around it. Over time tattoos spread slightly and if there is not enough empty skin to compensate for this you are going to have areas that are just undefined blobs. Also, avoid long straight lines and circles that wrap. As soon as you twist your arm it will distort.
I know there is some impossibly realistic tattoos out there that look amazing in their photo but as a tattooist myself I make them to last not to only look good for my instagram.
Bold will hold as they say.
DESU though I would just get a rose of no mans land and be done with it though you cant beat the classics.
the eye on the staff seems kinda unnecessary. the geometric stuff in the background, is there a reason for this or just to look cool? you might get bored of it after a while
I wish I could draw, but I can never do it because I just dont know WHAT to draw. I'm tired of just drawing hands, faces and boxes- it just feels empty and pointless at this stage. I want to draw characters in cool poses and great environments, but I just can't stand being shit at doing both those things, to the point where I even struggle to start drawing.
Does anyone else here have this problem/had this problem and surpassed it?
>>3010238
Quit being a bitch and draw anyway.
Bunch of whiners on this board.
A very common advice here is to draw what you want to draw. The exercises are only there to aid you in getting better at drawing what you want. So, what do you want to draw? Draw that.
>>3010250
this
holy fuck OP, it's seriously that easy
did you have to make a thread about it?
>i want to draw characters in cool poses
do that then, but learn to deal with the fact that you're shit right now
Rate the face I drew

Thanks, Doc.

>head shape kind of off
>eyes totally different
>nose isnt even close to the same shape
>lips fuller than original
>legs plumper
>chest plumper
>she has a broken waist
>frog legs
>thighs are completely different shape
Basically
>symbol drawing
>needs more fundamentals
I didn't use the original splash because some of the features are less discernable, but you see that the facial features are the same between splash arts.

Are you another of these sakimichan copycats?
What sort of exercises are you doing? What is it supposed to target?
This is what I started doing recently. Don't know this has (or even requires) a term other than figure drawing. Prompt is to take 1-2 minutes to observe and sketch the gesture from reference. Then put the reference away and take 15-20 minutes try to fill in the rest from memory/ knowledge. Afterwards, compare the works and spot where you fucked up most. Not the most innovative, but I think it's a good balanced approach between observation and knowledge (not just blindly copying). Like to know what IC is trying out.
Side note: TIL I don't know how to draw black people. Or boobs. Or hands. Or feet. Or...
>>3011511
please remember that when you're drawing from reference you're not drawing from life, you're copying a picture.
that's fine and all, and a very useful exercise in itself, but it won't teach you the same things drawing actual real things in actual real life will.
>sitting on a naked dude even darker than her
is this bitch a black slaver
>>3011519
Such as? And why?
I just really wanted to post some doodles and thought this is the right thread to do it. I am young and inexperienced artist, I just have fun drawing
best books to learn anatomy?
The Bible, of course.
Get copy of (pic) and look up ecorche on google to learn muscle placement
Watch a lots and lots of exercise, sports, and porn videos to see how muscles move under different motions
Books: Anatomy for Sculptors By Uldis Zarins, Figure Drawing: Design and Invention By Michael Hampton, Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators By Mike Mattesi
Video Courses: Scott Eaton's Anatomy for Artists, Anatomy Workshop Series With Charles Hu (Gnomon Workshop), Villpu Drawing Manual
None of these are in an order that you should do them in but if you do them all you will have a very good understanding of anatomy. I added the videos section because they helped me out the most, specifically Scott Eaton's course.
Last thread: >>3001591
This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies, however, all forms of stylization is welcome here. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, you're supposed to have fun!

You know this is a gif and if you wait 5 seconds it is uncovered.

I like the inventiveness of each new OP.
So, I already have a basic understanding of perspective(pic is mine). I understand the concept of vanishing points, horizon line, boxes etc but i'm wondering in order to draw really good environments with character in it, just how much perspective knowledge do I need? Marshall vandruff's course is 7 hours while erik olson is 90 hours, what exactly am I missing in those other 80 hours? I'm also interested in making comics with sweet backgrounds like this http://www.mangahere.co/manga/kindred/c001/7.html
I heard ctrl paint had some good perspective info, thoughts on that?
>>3006125
>I understand the concept of vanishing points
No, you don't.
>>3006126
Just because you understand a concept, doesn't mean you will be able to execute it successfully, retard.
>>3006125
It's possible that you're just going to work out different forms of perspective until you find the right one. There might be a hidden logic to your sense of organization, for example an object might seem to *want* to be in the wrong area, or the wrong size, or the wrong angle. Sometimes this looks really engaging and it can give your layouts a ripple effect. Don't get discouraged and you'll make headway by studying more from reference.
Is this a thing? Do you know of any girls who like to draw porn? I mostly see guys artists..
