>>3009407
i just got done with this page.
i usually do commission work for rappers so i dont want to post it but maybe i will post other stuff but nothing that lets anyone know who i am
>>3009407
once you get the character design and their fashion down it is easier to make comics i swear bro :D
Why aren't illustrators respected as much as fine artists?
>>3005925
How long would it take to learn to draw/paint like THAT?
>>3005925
The only people who don't respect illustrators as much as fine artists are fine artists.
There's barely any room for pretentiousness in illustration so it's deadly fucking poison for all the intellectual circlejerkers.
Hey /ic/, I'm interested in what you guys think of my work

"I should have posted in the drawing thread"
You should be able to solve this.
You don't need to know their names just what they look like.
>>3012737
I'll hastily wing it, just to start. fuck polishing
>>3012738
I don't have strong memory, so I forget essential stuff unless if I mark down their names.
Critique... :/
Great
It's great. Next time challenge yourself to drawing from a reference that doesn't have blown out studio lighting. The reason the image reads well as a drawing is because there's almost no detail in the face outside of the eyes, nose and mouth. Everything else is almost completely flat. These features are floating in a textureless void framed completely by a mass of dark hair. This is all by design of the photographer to exaggerate the sensual features of a real woman with the limited nature of photography. Drawing is not bound by such limitations.
You can draw attention to sensuality by the quality of line, the texture of your hatching, the subtle transition between your darkest shadow and your brightest highlight and reductive hatching with an eraser.
I often find that when I try to follow Loomis' instructions down to a T, my construction and drawings actually come out looking WORSE. Am I focusing too much on copying/following and not learning what does and does not work for me? Or is Loomis' work really *the* instruction set to becoming good at drawing?
>>3012583
Lomeme is double-edged sword, it's used by beginners, but if you can't construct his guidelines correctly, you're pretty much fucked up and it can even teach you bad habits.
Look for other sources and combine them, that worked best for me.
Try Hampton or Reilly, Anon. The Reilly method is good for finding the face's planes.
>>3012583
post your work.
Also how to improve my painting. Its on a canvas board with acrylic colors. What's the best way to "seal" the surface of an acrylic painting?
>>3012363
you don't need to varnish acrylic paintings usually, but if you want to then you use acrylic varnish lol.
it's also good to put a layer of medium on before the varnish
Canvas boards are shite.
Get yourself some pre-cut mdf or whatever it's called in your country, 2 coats of acrylic primer (from your art supplier), really good surface to work on, and works out much cheaper.
>>3012363
>>3012417
These are boards I've prepared.
Either side, acrylic primer with acrylic tint over the top.
Middle; crap canvas attached to mdf (not the canvas board type)-the canvas is pretty rough, so it needs oil primer to smooth it.
>tfw i actually got laid just because i can draw
kek feels good man
Story time!
>be me
>26y/o artist
>gay but completely autistic/neet/shy/virgin-robot
>1 year ago i started to be in a Bear Community
>holy shit its full of big muscular daddies
>all of them basically GREEK GODS im not even kidding - they look like those Zeus/Hercules statues
>dick goes diamonds but i myself go depressive because i dont have a chance (im a massive virgin neet faggot after all)
hope its not too long...cont:
>make friends with those greek gods on Facebook, where i randomly post pictures
>they all amazed by my art. And its not too hard to me to draw them
Lets end this story - i finally had an amazing fucking sex you can possibly wish with one of the most 1000000000/10 men. All because he likes my art and i drew him and that flattered me
>tfw i had sex with high quality human being
>tfw he actually calls me "mr.artist" and tells me how tallented i am
I am a skinnyfat with social problem. There is no way a person like me would be in a situations with such a high reward.
>>3011970
Nice job, guy
You stupid fag. The average gay literally has 80 sexual partners a year or some shit. The reason you got laid is because you went outside for once, not because you draw.
I want to get really really good at drawing skulls. Do you have any advice for that?
pic is not my drawing
literally just draw skulls
>>3011571
Lmao
Great thread my dude.
>>3011573
it's summer, kids who have been drawing for two weeks think it's okay to make moronic threads
it'll die down in aug-september when they go back to school
>inb4 fanart is for attention whores
Conceded. Generally true.
But can fan art be considered also to be a modern spiritual successor to studying masters? In this case, studying not technical drawing skills, but what makes characters appealing or marketable? Can fan art be considered studies of masters of design and appealing characters/worlds?
The renaissance was bible fanart
>>3011234
If you want to actually get any attention, fanart is the easiest way to do it. And if you want to do commissions, you need attention.
Plus, it's fun desu. I don't need to be doing SUPER SERIOUS ART STUDY MODE 100% of the time. I swear it's like this board has never heard of fun in their lives.
Yeah well I draw pictures of boat girls because I enjoy it
IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
OLD THREAD: >>3007755
How do you study an artist?
>>3009835
Look up their early work and influences or just copy it 1:1 if you know their methods. ezpz
>>3009835
Start with early works, then focus on the height of their popularity as it will give you a good guide to their progression. After that look into whatever seems interesting.
I usually done the sketch phase with only a few rough line to contruct the figure then go straight to drawing.
Is this normal? I saw a lot of artist sketch a lot more then this, sometime they even make it look like lineart.
If this is a bad habit then is there anyway to fix it? help me d/ic/k. Pic relate

LOOMIS
>>3009629
Loomis? Sorry for my newfagottry
>>3009625

>ic talks about read loomis
>they never post loomis quotes to answer the same questions over and over again
am I the only one who has really read loomis?
no I've also read loomis
No, I have also read Loomis.
>>3012446
>reading loomis
But his writing is fucking shite, anon.
Just copy the plates and do the exercises. It's like telling people to quote Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. It's nonsense. Artists are morons.
Skilled morons though, so do go through the books.
