post your success stories!
Whom are you quoting?

myself
You're in the exact spot I'm in, though I haven't graduated yet. The thing is, if you aren't extremely prolific, technically skilled, or have a lot of friends/associates or all three, then art is mostly only going to be a hobby. Networking is extremely important, and I know I'm shit at it so I've come to grips with the notion that I'll never make a living from my art. That's just how it is. Schmooze or lose.
Is supply bigger than the demand?
When did you stop enjoying pictures for what they are and not as a benchmark of someone's technical adequacy?
>>3011257
Yes.
>>3011257
That's like saying there's too many people who aspire to be rich and that they should stay broke.
What sort of brush settings do you guys use for SAI Tools?
I just got the program and want some brushes
>>3018721
pen, airbush, and mask only. Hard mode.
I like to use this one for sketching http://www.deviantart.com/art/Paint-Tool-SAI-Pencil-Brushes-96742060
how do I avoid constantly perceiving my art as being better than it actually is? I often don't realize how bad or weird something is until I improve significantly and its holding me back
>>3017016
Save your old art so you can laugh at how terrible it is and track your improvement.
>>3017019
this
>>3017016
it's natural, I guess. Be humble, be receptive to critique and flip the canvas

Give it up. Get a job. Live a happy life.
I have an idea to improve IC. Hopin someone with a higher IQ can develop/ build on it.
When posting art to the appropriate thread, we should use the Name field to as an opportunity to show what our goals are.
Maybe like a title or something. People will post their art and you can see what they're trying to become or something similar.
Examples:
>Neet Hobbyist
>Professional Concept Artist
>Anime fag
>Better Than You
>etc.
Only people who give a fuck would participate anyways.
>>3014851
It'll potentially be a way to get around vague advice
>>3014849
your idea has merit but not for that. people should learn to the fundies anyways and if they're doing alt style, we'd see it in their post
maybe as something to tailor the reply to their needs
maybe fundie-focused?
maybe also as a way for posters in the self-promo threads to know upfront if one is down to be hit up
Or should I just not use DeviantArt at all?
>>3018474
Just... don't talk to them.
They exist in their own circle.
its a teenager... just dont talk to teenagers and you're good
the fact that you made this attention seeking thread shows people should avoid encounters with you.
I've tried doing this myself, but at a certain point I struggle to see my brush/cursor. I really wanna draw with thinner lineart but trying gives me a headache. My eyesight is already very poor.
1. bigger screen
2. cintiq
that's my guess only, I'm using a small intuos draw and I have to zoom in a lot more than I see in youtube speedpaintings.
>>3018308
That's more for painting than drawing. When you're painting you're thinking more in terms of light and masses and precisions is less important. Obviously you won't be able to produce accurate lineart if you work on a thumbnail sized document window. If you just want to do a rough lay in then again absolute precisions isn't as important. I often squint or cross my eyes slightly to see the big picture rather than the details.
And no cintiqs or bigger screens have literally nothing to do with it. Any regular size monitor is just fine.
does anyone know what name of this pencil that Baron is using?
Why does it matter?
>>3018121
That pencil won't make you any better so it doesn't matter. But if you must know, it is a white mechanical pencil...
>>3018123
>>3018124
You two cunts, quit being bitter. Anon didn't think that this pencil was Excalibur or anything special, just wanted to know what it was.
OP, it's a white Koh-I-Noor Rapidomatic, probably 0.5mm
t. I have the same penicl
Hello, im new here
What's /ic/'s opinion on this kinda simple, poppy art style?
How can i learn to draw like this, besides just using thick lines
Also, can you give me some artists i could get inspo from?
loomis
>>3018150
Seconded. Deputy Loomis is a great source of artistic inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOSibC0fjgw

I found these zodiac signs in the "V" mask, but I did not want to continue looking for the meanings of each symbol, since it seems to me really long and mysterious.
