FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?
>The original developer of the site has taken a leave for quite a while, originally due to medical reasons. Progress on the site is almost non-existant at this point. You can try contacting him at @LavaFlake or emailing him at [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>Your streak will go back to 0 and you will have to start again. No other penalties.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>There is no week system anymore, instead new users are given "streaks" based on the number of consecutive days you can submit without getting eliminated. (token losses do not reset your streak)
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

i felt like my expressions were garbo,so i grabbed this grid and tried drawing my waifu. can i get some tips, notes or whatnot for doing expressions such as this?
>>3012099
Goddamn, ain't it fugly. While there are at least some hints at the intended expressions, you really suck at them.
Solution: go to danbooru/gelbooru and search by "moaning" / "happy_sex" / "naughty_face" / "heavy_breathing" tags (NOT all of them together, although you surely can combine them). Go through MANY (I speak dozens or hundreds of) pages, opening all or most of the pics, inspecting them thoroughly, selecting the best looking ones, and memorizing what makes them good. If you can't grasp the correct form, save the pic, trace it on a separate layer and then disable the original layer. When you've memorized the expression, copy it N times to train both your visual and muscle memory. N depends on your IQ / memory. The better it is, the less is N.
Especially lewd ones?
do about 500 of them you will get it. watch porn copy expression...

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

How do I draw feet? Like, really cute and sexy feet?
Open up your celebrity feet folder and do studies lol.
>>2987425
Feet aren't sexy. If you think they are, then you have a mental disorder.
>>2987432
That's not creepy at all.
I need critiques, its supposed to be Velma in a sort of pinup style.
I know the coloring is off, I have little to no experience with coloring, but I cant put my finger on it.
aight guy see here. there are some things that you can see are off even if you're new to coloring: for example, the orange of her socks below the t-strap on her shoes doesn't extend all the way to the lineart, etc.
it's apparent that you don't have a clue how lighting works but that doesn't really matter wrt this image. just do it in flats. Take the airbrush shading out. It doesn't help at all.
Her shoulders seem p wide. they may look like that in the ref, but I'd suggest narrowing them just for aesthetic reasons. as far as her face goes, uh, I dunno. maybe just do that over again
her mouth is pretty far from her nose
the left arm (her left) is real weird, like, it looks like she should have her elbow on her thigh, but if she did, it would mean her forearm was curved in an impossible fashion
anyway. do flats. do face over. Fix left arm. color to the edges of lineart. boom. fap material all done
>>3018839
Yeah I noticed the line art right when I posted the pic, to be honest I lost all urge to draw Velma as I progressed through the picture.
I think I might just scrap it and do it over or move on.

You should at least set some rules like 1 pass.
every day? 5 times a week?
how many hours on average?
>>3015583
at least 30 minutes everyday
Define "practice"
I draw every day for an average of 3 hours. But most of it is just drawing for fun, unfinished crap. I know I need to do studies but I'm fucking lazy
One Bargue plate a week
Why is paint so expensive? I'm just starting out and oils are even more expensive than acrylic s i settled on acrylic and this shit is like $8 per 2 OUNCES. what the fuck?
>>3018264
cause you're buying expensive paints. most mid-grade oil paints sell a tube of 200 ml for between $15-$35 depending on the color. And most student grade paints, which is what you should be using if you're starting out, run you about $10-15 for 200 ml regardless of color because they won't be divided into series.
So a basic 8 color palette will run you around $125, but last you for around 2 months. Figure in that a pre-stretched canvas costs about $25, that means you're in the hole for $150. Sell a painting for $500 and you've covered the cost of supplies for months to come as well as canvas and brush costs.
Supplies are the cheapest thing about a career in art. The expensive part is when your paintings don't sell, so get better or it will all have been for nothing.
>>3018276
Since i'm just starting out I'm using canvas panels as opposed to regular stretched canvasses because i figured if i suck why would i waste good canvas.
also, student grade paint seems to suck in quality so i'm apprehensive about using it
>>3018264
use cheap paint if you want cheap paint lol, tempera or whatever
Hey goys, is there a place where I could see everything an artist has done over the years?
Was wondering if something like this exists.
I'm new to art btw but there must be some autist that did it for giggles right?

Do you have Mr Jack's sketchbook by chance?
>>3018537
conceptart sketchbooks are almost all gone due to tech issues.

deviantart used to have a thing where you could go to the last page of a persons gallery and see their very first uploads, but they fell for the infinite scroll meme.
