Did half this fucking site forget that the other half inhabiting this cesspit are trying to actually make a living? Did you not realize that no one but you fuckheads actually cares about perfect anatomy? Or are you actually saboteurs trying to cripple the art industry as much as possible?

You cannot make "perfect" art and be financially successful unless you have the capacity to pump it out at a feasible rate, which is to say you can't.

The construction part of a painting is the one that takes the least amount of time. Doing it right doesn't consume any more time than doing it wrong unless you have to go back and correct errors over and over again.

If I want to work in the games industry should I just learn 3D or is there still a way to make it with 2D?

3D artists work off of concepts and orthographic drawings from 2D artists.

They don't just smash out the first dragon that comes in their head and shit it straight into the game.
>>
>>3128141
There are many different kinds of job in the games industry. You could do fucking HR if you wanted.

Knowing both is best.

>start to draw the comic I wanted to do for so long
>ok, here are the pannels
>anxiety starts
>every pannel is another whole blank paper full of potential bad choices
>one fuck up, you start again

Ok. I was not expecting this. How can I beat it.

Manga artists start with a B5 notebook and a dark blue Col-Erase pencil for drawing the outline. Then they transition their ideas to professional paper.

Some people can jump right onto Deleter paper, but you should familiarize yourself with the practice method first! If you've drawn something a few times over you'll never quake when it's time to ink.

I'm not completely sure this is the right board for this, but I would like to start a thread where people can share and critique their original animations.
I'm a beginner and this is the first project I deem worthy of sharing, it's a short film about auditory hallucinations I made few months ago.

As you can probably tell most of the movements are rotoscoped, I used this technique because I was looking for a very fluid effect overall. I'm also a huge fan of animators like Bakshi who employed lots of rotoscoping in their movies

I heard it's pretty cool to see in real-life.

Bear in mind, there's a lot of quality loss involved when viewing this on a computer-screen.

The original painting > Lighting and surrounding > Lens system of camera > CCD > Signal processing > File format > Computer screen

Why is it so hard to get professional art critique? I live in a state with no ateliers and no reputable art schools, no freelance artists of note who offer instruction, etc. My only option is to pay for overly expensive online courses, but those usually end up being prerecorded videos that you could get for free elsewhere, and if they do come with the perk of a weekly critique, the classes are exponentially more expensive and the critique only goes over the material covered in the class.

I'm at a point in my art where I feel like I've hit a wall. I know what is wrong with my art; I can see where I'm messing up, but knowing and trying to fix it doesn't do anything. It's like my eyes and handa are incapable of replixating what I'm seeong and daily practice gets me nowhere if I keep making the same mistakes over and over again. It really feels like I need some instruction and critique personally tailored for me, as otherwise I'm just absorbing the same Information over and over again and I obviously can't ask a book or video files questions.

Putting art up for critique on image boards and forums is always a gamble; most of the time you'll just get feedback from artists who don't k i.e. what they're doing.

I am so frustrated.

Except it's not? If you offer enough money to professional artists, they'll mentor you and crit your shit. Daarken even has digital courses where he'll redline every single work you send him.

So, I've got a commission to do an album cover for a friend, and I'm practically done but I've no idea how to render these alcohol bottles he wanted me to put on the floor in the simple cartoony style he wanted me to draw it in. Do I just fill in the glass with a light blue like in most cartoons and go from there? How would ya'll do it? Pic Related

Should you feel bad for using a ruler or compass with traditional media?
>>
>>3127793
it's just that it makes stuff too easy that I feel like I'm not helping myself fully practice
>>
>>3127786

I personally don't use it because every drawing is practice in itself, it feels as if if you do it you'll improve a little less.

Do what you are comfortable with tho.

i'm assuming you want to get into their animation program
seems you've got a solid grasp of backgrounds when it comes to cities, landscapes are there too but a lil underwhelming. you've got the referenced figure studies down and a surprising strength when it comes to vehicles, something many artists loathe. where you really seem to be struggling tho is when it comes to stylizing or simplifying the human body. if you're trying to get into their finearts program (do they have a finearts program?) then this isn't much of a problem, but when it comes to animation, you need to be able to quickly and effectively draw the human figure, usually in many styles. the only two pieces i see where you branch away from the more realistic style of your studies are severely disappointing compared to the rest of your work.

keep in mind that stylized doesn't mean drawing without reference, in fact, being able to draw a stylized version of something from reference is pretty important. you seem to be working on that with faces with that recent post on your tumbly but try extending it to the entire figure as well. also if you aren't doing quick gestures you should be working on that, helps with internalizing ways to quickly and efficiently internalize and reduce the human figure. and don't forget about legibility, also composition, tho hopefully they'll be teaching you that there, but having some bits in your sketchbook showing that you're already thinking about it an experimenting can help you a lot

also just remembered that you should have some animals in your portfolio as well. horses, dogs and cats are some go to ones that you'll more than likely need to be able to draw in some capacity if you want to work in animation but be sure to throw in some varied species, this is a thing i see many people forget.

apologies if you read all this if you're tryin to get into a different department lol
also good luck on learning french if you haven't done that already cause i hate that language

this was extremely helpful. i've been thinking a lot that I need to stylise and abstract, but it's good to have someone else come in and point it out. thank you, anon.
