How to get grasp of concepts?
like understanding the concepts behind (for example) foreshortening.
I know that you can smash your shit against 1000 exercises and eventually the concepts will get engrained in your brain and hands.
But is there a "smart way to learn to draw" like understading how shit works.
no you lazy faggot, time to grind
You can 100% understand something intellectually without lifting a pencil but you won't internalize it unless you draw it a zillion times.
It's just the way she goes. If it was easy everyone could do it.
>>3021652
You're not going to learn to be an artist by reading something. Art is mostly hands on - you pick a pencil up, or a brush, and do it.
Why is this image so interesting?
The face and the hair.

Is it? The annoying blur gets in the way.

Engaging eye contact
Soup /ic/?
So, I run a podcast, and wanted to commission a waifu or tan for the show and made the mistake of going to fiverr. Pic related is the cropped version of the result (full version has our podcast name, don't want to shill).
I mean, it's not bad for $20, but it's not good.
Where can I commission a redraw, without spending a king's ransom?
>Inb4 someone here offers to do it.
As much as I'd love to send money directly to an anonymous person on the internet, without going through a service... Well...
>>3011064
thats pretty decent for /ic/ standards
for /a/ drawthread standards even
fucking cheap too.
what kind of quality are you looking for actually?
>>3011066
Don't get me wrong, I do like the face, and the concept is good, but I don't like the pose and form.
>>3011068
That, and the ruffles on the shirt are a bit off.
I draw decently, myself, so I have higher standards than most normies, but I'm a shit at anime. (or just a shit in general)
Artists commissioning artists is probably never a good idea kek
we need to have a resolute discussion about the quality of threads and discussion here.
topics:
E-celeb threads
ironic shitposts, trolls, and other unsavouries
request threads that should be in /r/
anything other to call into question
undeserving individual artist threads
before you say it, rare meta threads are completely fine when they are fixing problems.

make me a mod and i'll purge all non believers
Calling all Australian /ic/ posters.
Anyone know anything about CDW Studios, or been there? I wanna know what they'll be teaching and how well their students have improved since going there. It's probably the most relevant place that I want to go to in Australia and probably the only proper one too. They don't say much about their student's works other than occasional glimpses at shit they're doing. Peter Han is currently there I think so that's pretty cool.
So if anyone's been there, what was your submission portfolio like?
>pic related
One of their artworks.
pls respond
Graffifi fag here, this tard on instagram keeps calling me a toy (equivalent of driving a spear through a taggers heart) and hes fucking terrible, i know im not fucking Banksy or a fucking veteran, but i know im better, thats him in the picture above, will post my own hitups as a response to thread, in all honesty, whos the better toy?

Victor Hughes (1939-1982) drew this just weeks before he killed himself in his Brooklyn apartment. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia in his early teens, and struggled with it his entire life. After his death, hundreds of drawings were found in his house, many of which reflect his fractured state of mind.
>>3022932
Looks like your average /ic/ poster after two weeks of trying to figure out loomis.

this entire thing is eerie as fuck.
I'd lose my shit if I suddenly found out one day I was going to slowly lose my mind- it's literally my worst fear.
>>3022932
>reflect his fractured state of mind.
lmao, no. it reflects his lazy retarded ass trying to draw without studying fundies. chicken scratch retard scribbles isn't some profound edgy world view, it's just a retard who couldn't figure out loomis.
How often do you jerk off to your own work?
How often do you jerk off to animated porn in general?
>>3021276
>How often do you jerk off to your own work?
I don't draw porn, I'm not a degenerate.
>How often do you jerk off to animated porn in general?
Daily because I lied.
>>3021276
>How often do you jerk off to your own work?
Never, because I am not a dickbrain, but an artist.
>How often do you jerk off to animated porn in general?
Rarely, cause I'm way too critical of flaws in art. Again, not a dickbrain, but an artist.
>>3021276
>jerking off to drawings in 2017 when there is a never ending supply of live action ladyboy porn thanks to internet
anon, pls.
I really enjoy these types of drawings based off of they're "simplicity"
>>3019413
In the biz we call that a 'rough sketch'.
>>3019416
The biz sounds tough, well thanks.
>>3019416
I searched up rough sketches and found little none of similarity between the images
Hello /ic/, I was a really good drawer back when I was at junior high school but soon after graduating got into drugs and when I was 18 stopped almost completely, until now that I have been sober for while and started thinking about ways of keeping myself busy and doing something i'm good at...
...which after 10 years of gap i'm NOT anymore and as I try I soon start to feel like start crying and completely lose my shit, I have zero ideas and everything that used to be basic stuff seems impossibly hard.
I have wasted most of life shooting stuff to my arm and used to tell myself "well at least I can draw" but now I feel I don't have even that anymore. I'd like to be good again but the more I try the more I dread pen and paper.
whats the point of this thread
Never too late to start
Its always hard work
I can feel ya, I didnt do shit all the time too and for some reason consider art the only thing Im good at even tho I suck major ass.
If you dont rally want to draw then dont.
>>3023540
How to get started and keep on keeping on I guess
Please, Im looking for art like this so I can have a better references for what Im drawing. Please help.
how's this
>>3023466
Good good, making process.
Think of it for something for a knee tattoo.
>>3023460
I'm sure a lot of you draw, sculpt, etc. for long periods of time. Does this take a toll on cognition, social life, etc?
>>3022331
Depends on the hours. If you're doing it right, you'll have no social life, no joy, no time for plebs. Get enough sleep, exercise, and eat right. Better chance of maintaining mental health and cognitive functions.
Even better if you castrate yourself as well; less you fap and waste precious seconds of study time.
>>3022348
>If you're doing it right, you'll have no social life
i fucking hate this sentiment. I understand 'being in the zone' but if you can't balance it with at least some socialising then you're not living right
>>3022358
You can be social when you've made it. Most pros straight up take weekends off.
But you haven't made it yet, have you?
Let's try something fun: take one of your favorite reaction images, turn it upside down, then draw it.
Why the fuck would I do that?
Better idea: take your favorite reaction image and draw it in your own style.
What does /ic/ think about graffiti?
Do you consider it as art?
Are any writers on this board?
Show some of your stuff, I just drew this one (Riot), what do you think about it?
>>3020389
thought it said rift
you should scribble on paper
then cover said paper with a clean sheet and try to generate the alphabet using the lines of the scribbles as guidelines (obvs you can move the paper)
you will get more natural lines that way (._.)b
Yeah im a writer....also thats kinda awful OP.
>>3020408
a friend of mine thought it said rice ..
to be honest I did this lines by purpose because I thought it would look cool, but I guess you are right when you are saying, it lacks natural flow.
here another piece I made and as you can see I did use the same type of lines as well as other elements I used in the riot one but I used a different letter style
>this is considered high art by art connosiuers
>this is acclaimed work done by a respected artist known for his talent and skills
I've always maintained a healthy dislike of Modigliani. Of course, it has to be viewed in context, with the rest of his oeuvre... that's only fair.
I know right its not super realistic and its all just expression and colour what bullshit work on rendering and loomis etc etc etc.
Just shut the fuck up.
>>3019591
How about you stop caring so much about what other people are doing and just focus on what you are doing in your life. I am not defending the OP's image but I just don't care if its good or bad because I am already worried enough about my own work if it is good or not. This is just meaningless bitching.
