What's a good method/site for getting into or even getting better at character design?
>>3059920
I draw an interesting silhouette first then see if I can give the character logical construction and then detail it.

Wait, wasn't this guy on /ic/ at some point ? I remember seeing this painting's process in one of the draw threads a long time ago.
>trash artist
>giving advice on anything
it should be illegal
>>3058584
who's the qt in the right of his references? :3
>>3058584
people this bad are making videos on habit tips?
what's the #1 tip on art you would give yourself a year ago?
give up you dont like drawing
>>3058080
this, most people here should just give up
It looks flat and lifeless because you're shading with hues that look appropriate from the start. Vibrant and lively hues look really wonky before you sort it out
Is it possible to draw nsfw furry art and get paid for it without commissioners or others finding out your real name?
I'm assuming there are other methods than using paypal for this?
>>3056310
make a gumroad account and and do this.
>>3056310
Of course, as long as you're not using social media with your real name, people won't find out who you are. If you want to use paypal for commissions just use an alias.
>>3056315
What payment methods does that use? Because I heard paypal bans nsfw artists.
is mastering all the skills of game development by yourself a true mark of craftsmanship?
will that means that gamedev is the superior art form?
>>3060073
of course it's a true mark of craftsmanship
mastering one of the artistic skills involved would be a mark of craftsmanship, whatever that means.
although game dev, in many forms, requires and combines many other arts, it doesn't mean it's superior.
it's still a unique, incomparable format of its own, like all the other individual arts, albeit a tremendously flexible one.
the potential of it is totally massive, but really ask yourself: how many games even reach for that potential? unfortunately i can think of very few. how many games are just cliche-machines? mechanically, in structure, in writing... that's unavoidable in anything i guess. sturgeons law and whatnot.
the ones that do reach, even a little bit, for the actual artistic potential of games, holy fuck. they are life-changing, as great art is. but at this point in time there are very few games that even try to reach for that.
so i don't think it's worth comparing really. if you're learning art on the path to mastering all the game dev skills... well, good luck, do your best
>>3060073
What?
Any cross hatch enthusiasts here? I kinda suck at coloring so I use shading most of the time
Wild. What's with the shape of her head?
>>3059534
I was aiming for a Joker-esque shape for her head and imagined it upside down, and I screwed up aaand so I went with it. Lol
I'm not talented enough to make my own yet but I can post someone else's
Sell your video games, sell your non-art related books, delete your anime/TV/ movie files get perma banned on your social media accounts and any online multiplayer games and get fucking good.
>>3059036
Somewhat. You don't need to abandon everything in your life to get gud, but (just like any serious skill) you will need to make time in the day for it.
>>3059036
i think if you really need to do that you may as well just give up, because you're a filthy consumer grade human anyway, art is above you
lol just draw porn loli's on twitter its easy
do you like my work?
>>3058839
that's not how fabric works.
>>3058861
Explain in detail how robe fabric should be drawn.
yuno sky
not terribly creative/original
It is okay to use references to make profits? Like using a pose from a photo as a reference then try to sell ilustrations?
>>3052479
We're at the point where someone could deliberately copy and paste a "reference" on canvas, use a few smudge brush strokes and add a fuckton of filters and sell it as a "tribute".
There's no integrity anymore do whatever you fucking want.
For as long as there has been fotography artists including pros have been using references. /ic/ is often very uptight about these sort of things and they start yelling it's copying or sometimes flat out tracing. Your post seems like a normal use of a reference.
>>3052479
>is it ok to do what artists have been doing for thousands of years?
Gee OP I don't know, it sounds degenerate....
Shithead

Post your current drawing here and provide helpful criticism and advice to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost it.

What did you have for breakfast?
What's wrong with your arm?
Hey /ic/
>Not sure what "studies" in art are
>Opens Anatomy for Sculptors
>Brain: Proposal, draw every image in the book
>Me: I cant think of anything better
>First Image Skelton
>Draws Skelton
>What the fuck is going on
>Searches 3D model of first part that I dont get
>Draws it a bunch
>is this the right thing to do?
>goes to /ic/
So, How do you make studies? I want long studies that make me work a bunch
What Im doing is right? And is there any other more succesfull method?
thanks anons.
>successful method
This is your problem right here. You should be looking to fail a lot, that's what you need to do to get good. If you haven't drawn a skeleton from every angle ten thousand times, don't even think about being good.
>>3059677
Mmm, maybe I should explain it better
>Method A: You do it this way
>Method B: You do it that way
Method B will get you faster to improvement than Method A will. If drawing skeleton from every angle ten thousand times is the fastest methond than any other out there to improve then I will follow that one.
Don`t try to reinvent the wheel, study figure drawing before you get into anatomy to get a feel for what muscles are important.
To do studys you need to know what you are studying for.
What's /ic/'s recommended 2D animation program?
I want to like OpenToonz, but I have a lot of problems with it. Namely, some really bad lag in the Drawing room. Which is a pity cause it has a lot of nifty tools that closely emulate the workflow of traditional animation.
What's the best alternative?
Cacani, fool. It's the F U T U R E. Worth getting over the learning curve.
i use flash cs6, and its great for beginners, but you draw with vectors not pixels.
TVPaint is currently the best
I want feedback on this piece but the drawthread seems to be sinking.
so maybe it's time for a fanart thread? beg for tips, now is the time, beg for tips, make yourself a dime yeah
>tfw no one replies to your thread ╮(─▽─)╭
for real tho I need some advice fr this one. I finished it and was like "HTF DID I MISS HIS BACKSIDE"
so any advice for working that in post-ink would be appreciated ┐(‘~`;)┌

Drawing's fine, but my personal preference is for fan art to at least capture a likeness of the character. Your drawing doesn't quite achieve that.
Capturing likeness doesn't necessarily mean drawing on model, but there should be some aspects of her that makes us instantly recognize Asuka as Asuka, and not your character cosplaying as Asuka.
When you are unable to do that, it reflects a weakness in your methods, or a weakness in observation, or an inflexibility to your design sense, or even a lack of understanding of the character's personality. That last thing is going to be more off-putting to fans of the character than any technical shortfall.
