Old one nearly dead! post away!
Let's diversify /ic a bit and share some of our creations that are NOT paintings/drawings.
Jewelry, sculpture, metalworking, woodworking, glassworking, ice carving, masonry, polymer clay, etc — you name is.
Anything goes — as long as it's an object you've made and it's at least somewhat artistic.
>>2340283
/diy is for the technical and technological part of it, yes.
/ic seems more fit for sharing final pieces.
Well, not unless /ic is now officially "drawfags only".
would like to see more sculptures here, too
Is this art?, Do yous like it?, Do yous wanna see more?

So I was in drawing II the other day and my professor says
"Why would you want to draw like the old masters?"
"So what they can produce realist drawings of the human form? That's no fun"
"Their pieces are unimaginative and boring"
None of us could voice our opinions without our grades getting completely shit on so we let it slide.
I'm a not even a drawing major but god damn did this make my fucking blood boil. hOLY fucking shit
But hes right :^)

He's right though, it would be nice to have that level of technical skill, but it would be a waste of skill to just be le human photocopier autism is a superpower
Ok. Looking for some artistic nerds here. I'm playing DnD and I can't draw to save my life. My character is an elf, has ivory colored skin, purple eyes, long silver hair, and is about 5ft tall and 160lbs. So he's pretty shredded. Kind of like the picture but young looking. And he needs some badass robes. Hoping there's an artist who can draw that.
here u go fampai
>>2365662
requests are against the rule faggot. How much are you paying?
>>2365698
Oh. My bad senpai. I shall move along.
Is there an /ic/ Tan? If not, we should make one.
We could name some shit to put together and draw it out. Sounds fun. Pic related. My shitty art skills.

What are some ways to improve capturing likeness?
I don't have the reference for this, but you don't need it, it doesn't look like her.
>>2365628
Imperfections are what make people unique.
Don't show white on top or on the bottom of the eyes.
Eyes reflecting light.
Work those facial muscles, especially around the eyes (if it's a laugh, make those wrinkles show).
>>2365628
bro you know the fucking rules you even posted in a thread and got a response why the fuck are you making your own thread.
Camera Obscura's have existed for over 2000 years, most historians put the earliest ones a few hundred years BCE.
Camera Lucida's have existed since the late 1700's.
Isn't it possible that some of the masters were using these kind of optical devices to aid in their artistic endeavors?
Personally, I think if would be naive to believe that it was always skill, but what does /ic/ think? Did the old masters use the existing technology, such as ancient cameras, to give them an edge on their realism?
>>2364552
It was pure skill and relentless talent stop looking for excuses you stupid cunt.
>>2364552
Yes, they were doing that, lika any other craftsman they used tools and helpers to produce stuff better and faster. It is not really a big secret, but it burst the bubble of people who got their own idealised version of the old masters, which are rather frequent on this site.
>>2364552
some of them did use the dark room as you said, but they did also understand realism.
go back to draw.
I have a noob question and i don't even know what to call it...
Let me explain:
I need a photoshop option that will allow me to point a start that...will spread a bunch of "lines" around it depending on where this "point" was set.
I know i can draw it by hand but in this situation i REALLY need an automatical thing that does that in 1 second.
Picrelated is my try to explain it...
(cont with another example)
>>2362902
Picrelated is what i mean.
>>2362902
I found only this picrelated way to "do a bunch of lines automatically" but it does it in a way that i don't need.
>>2362902
Polygon tool, 99 sides, options (there's a small dropdown on the top bar) and check to make it a star with 99% indent.
Useful for making perspective points.
Hello anons, here is a little piambura exercise im doing currently, it's not finished yet, I just want to share since I'm really liking how its turning out, considering this is my first exercise of this kind, but of course I'm open to critics, of course I'll post more when I put more work onto it, in the meanwhile here it is
P.S. there are little proportion errors in left side of the face, so, aside from that please make sure to notice any errors/observations in it
Here its the previous step, before I added volume to both shadows and lights in the face
Looks gr8 OP. How do I into piambura?
>>2365185
OP here, thanks! first you gotta "kill" the whites in the cloth you're gonna use, for that use a mix of burnt umber and solvent for oil paintings, once you got a good mix between the two you use it and spread it on your canvas until all the white in it disappears, when you do this, you clean the excess with a clean rag, then you gotta make it dry
Next step is making the structure, u gotta use a mix of burnt umber, black and solvent again (try not to use a lot of solvent so it doesnt kill the burnt umber background)
once you got the structure right you gotta open lights in your painting, so you must use white, only white, do not mix it with anything and you gotta scrape a lil of the white painting on it, for example i was using white to open the whites little by little in the cheeks, and then u gradually ad more and more white to add the volume
Im sorry if you dont understand something in the process, some of my english is still rubbish and i didnt write notes when i was doing it
