Reference. Look at a face and draw it.
What are some amazing books out there on how to draw animals? Something like Hampton's "Figure Drawing: Design and Invention", but for animals. I know Vilppu has one, which is great. But any more great sources?

God speed OP
I like fantasy, sci-fi, and medieval stuff. I do. It's fun to draw.
But honestly, I'd take art a lot more seriously, and I'd want to really express myself artistically and start flexing my creativity, if the REAL art scene wasn't so terrible. You know what I mean?
We have this pathetic joke called Modern Art. And it's inescapable. It's the gold standard now, for some idiotic reason.
My aspirations now are just to make art for the entertainment design industry. But imagine if art was actually still respected worldwide? People would genuinely want dreams of furthering art and elevating it to new heights, as the masters of old once did.
You really have no idea what you're talking about

"Nobody knows what REAL art is. Art is a noble pursuit meant for people who DESERVE it. I aspire to bring forth a new age for art, and make it respected once again!"
Fuuuck you! Art is not a pinnacle of mankind that has been brought down by heathens, you god damn hipster. It's a medium that has many different varieties, enjoyed by many different people in many different ways.
How long should I practice everyday so that I can draw decently?
your whole fuking life

That doesnt seem reasonable.

Welcome to art
I have an odd problem. With every passing day i am getting worse and worse in drawing, it got to the point that i cant draw a head. I feel like a retarded child who tries to do his best. Maybe I am, but why now? It wasnt an issue a few years back. I am trying to "rediscover drawing" aka going to the basics but still i am failing miserably. What the fuck happened
Its all in your head. Quit the whining.

Great, now start with the Greeks and then move on to Loomis.
>>2368833
I'm sorry, what do you mean by that?
Alreayd posted this drawing on to get a critique a little while ago and someone told me that there were no main light source, basically the light and shadows were a little fucked up.
I now see it, but I don't know how to fix it,
should I restart it, trying to make it better, or keep going with this one ?
How could I fix the shadows and make like there is ONE main light source ?
And I don't know how to make the neck area darker to give volume and depth.
Yeah your on your way but your missing your lightsource just remove most if not all the shading from the chest and shoulders and add more to the inner collar and the horn looking things on hes head only on the inside other than that just start over and have the lightsource in mind but your better thn most fags
>>2368478
Are you even trying you cuck
>>2368478
If you are confident in your painting ability... Bust out some acrylic and start adding the light source with paint.... Otherwise I would use tracing paper to keep your line work intact and then transfer to another page and start your shading over again with the light source in mind.
If I wanted to make similar pieces to this, how would I do it?
How does the artist get the background colours like that?
>>2369528
wtf are you even talking about, be more specific
Probably isnt any answer and your just thinking itll somehow be easy
>>2369528
It's just simple linework on one layer, painted over on another (though it looks like they did it on paper, so no layers, but the principle is the same). The background is just a simple gradient.
There's nothing there that's particularly advanced.
It looks traditional to me, possibly colored ink with pen linework. If so so, contrary to what >>2369532 said, its pretty advanced because getting a smooth gradient like that in the back ground is very difficult.
Loved the statue thread and wanted to study faces using those classical beauty sculpture burste. It seem it is very hard to find 360 degree reference from those old masters.
Only thing I can find on the internet are anime shit or too realistic references.
I want the good old greek/roman/renaissance face.
Is there anyone owning such references? like 360 shots of a classical woman buste?
Pic related, this is the style I want to study but pic too little.
Maybe a pdf around to draw like that?
Don t tell me Loomis.
I want to start decorating the barren walls of my apartment with some prints of paintings. Are more expensive prints noticeably better? Will I have a more pleasurable viewing experience with a $300 canvas print than a $40 print?
Also, what are the guidelines for picking a frame? Should the frame be the same colors as the painting or contrast?
Lastly, is it tacky to display prints in larger sizes or a different ratio than the original?
Every thread deserves a reply.
>>2367408
Different ratios are weird, different size is a-ok.
Paint a mural. I painted a huge version of Starry Night on one of my walls. People seem to really love it whenever they come over.
Sup /ic/. First time poster, long-tiem lurker.
Plz rate: some of my old stuff. Oldest to newest.
