Copy them over and over until you reach the desired result.
Can we talk about how to pull a Noah Bradley, and make money with art despite being an objectively shit artist?
How to gain a following, build social media presence, have people pay 500$ for signed MtG playmats with my art on it, and other outlandish shit that comes with the territory.
Hard mode: Don't feel like whoring out my dignity and self respect by doing juvenile homosexual cringeworthy shit like Ross Tran or Kienan Laferty (or whatever, I'm not looking him up). They are cool guys and deserve every follower they got, but in my case I cannot make myself do that youtube-personality bs that kids seem to like nowadays.
>>2375517
>objectively shit artist
Still better than 100% of /ic/
Why get mad about it? Just get good and sell work based or merit not popularity
>>2375531
I can literally name a dozen /ic/ artists who are 100 times better than Bradley (but less financially successful)
How does Stock Image Photos affects us? I keep having undecided subconscious (I think) images of some sort of template of how certain things should be... which disturbs me. And those images def has strong visual connotations to Stock Image Photos seen in advertisment and online. Thoughts?
>>2375817
I made a thread on /r9k/ about this and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of this. It's some free mason illuminati shit that conditions you to what a 'perfect' life should look like. Stock images is a weapon for the mind invented for this sole purpose.
>>2375911
I was dubious at first but repeating numbers checks out.
Completely! I'm just wondering how subconsciously we accumulate it to the point where it becomes a (undecided, undeliberate) choice of visual archive?
Like, "generation stock image manipulators". 90s and forward...
Guess each generation has its visual template to deal with wheter you are aware of it or not.
so i just came across a revelation:
if you're using a digital platform; your workflow should be as follows:
sketching should not be done with a tablet... you should use beziar curves, shapes, and lines to create the initial sketch and then afterwards you can go over it with a tablet to create more interesting contours.
>>2378660
wow my mind is blown thanks op
>>2378660
Your revelation is really stupid.
>>2378660
are you high
>>2376178
Bump. We need more modern art threads. Old masters and animu grills are great and all but this is an under appreciated topic.
>>2376326
Not big on it but I guess it counts.
Does anyone suffer arm pains when drawing for long periods of a time? I've always had issues with my acromion area using "clicking" when I move my arm. If I strict it enough it stops clicking. However, ever since I started drawing, my right arm has always felt very sore, even after doing stretches.
Is this common or should I look more into this?
>>2378277
your entire body will start breaking down over the years.
knees are fucked from sitting all day
eyes are fucked from starin at pc screen all day
neck is fucked from sitting all day
ab muscles inexistant from sitting all day (cuases inner organs to sink downward slightly, progressively taxing the heart and some other shit)
no abs also means weakened back support
back pain
shoulder stick out forward because you have your arms forward all day
neck tension from having to overstabilize a head as a result of bad posture will eventually cause TMJ issues
TMJ will fuck you up slowly in a million other ways
and don't even get me started on the neurological and psychological effects
it's over anon. you've got maybe a couple of years left.
>>2378280
I mean, it just feels "sore". Like after a long workout, that kind of sore. But instead, I was drawing all day. I've never felt any "pain" for it, just soreness.
>>2378280
How horrifying

bg line art is competing with midground
control line weight with coherence or you're communicating things wrong, so, if you keep linework, keep bg with hinner lines than fg
It's going nice, but I'm sad that you didn't exploit the opportunity of having a model for yourself, that pose is shit
body language communicates too, that pose is boring, if you don't push your models they will only stand there, art is about contrasts, there's none right there, even hips and shoulders are paralels, it's completly frontal
consider looking old masters for inspiration next time, bet you can get way greater results if you plan it properly
Trying to experiment with values before adding colors. Any advice on how to make the image more interesting ?

Reminder that if you haven't read Concerning the Spiritual in Art you're a plebeian less knowledgeable about aesthetics than even Liefeld.

fuck you. and fuck the loomis-parrots. fuck anyone who says "YOU HAVE TO READ/CONSUME [X] OR YOU DON'T MATTER"
there is more than one path to artistic excellence.
tl;dr fuck you

Of you haven't read kandinsky's complete writings you're just part of the unwashed vulgus.
Even though he's mainly a sculptor, Rodin's writings are amazing
What are some good lectures to look up in regards to Foundation of Design?
I think design is some thing that comes naturally. So most of the time you just have to try many different things before you get a feel for what is right.
I remember seeing a video by FZDSchool on the subject though. Where he talks about hitting the sweet spot between under and over designed.
>>2378401
I went to fzd,
the design class was alot about function and communication. Go get some car design or industrial design classes. the main diffrence is that illustration is focused alot on "looking cool" and industrial design is all about having a functionail and efficient design. concept art for entertainment is basically the middle ground. believable enough for it sorta exist and a look that fits the function (not allways sexy cool looking stuf)
>>2378441
>function and communication
Hey look a good post. Like stated, in real world design has to especially consider function, while in fiction there are no practical constraints but rather the illusion of practicality.
What are some good resources for learning how to draw and conceptualize guns and weapons, especially fantasy ones?
>>2377011
learn how real guns/weapons work,
study those,
find stuff that goes in a similar direction to what you want,
study those.
>>2377092
>find stuff
Why do you think I'm here asking for stuff? I'm looking for something more specific than just observation.
>>2377094
As retarded as I think /k/ is, their sticky does a very good job at teaching you how guns work and what types of guns there are. Don't post there just read the sticky
http://amagicalplace.wikia.com/wiki/Sticky
I'm just curious.
There are 3 good resources I have. Drawabox, Keys to Drawing, and Fun with a Pencil.
What comes after that? Where do I go to learn?
What do you want to draw?
It's like coming off school and going to college. Art isn't linear, pick whatever the hell you want.

whats a good affordable light table?
just get a huion light tab at size A2. It's 330 yuan... around 50USD(not including shipping). Decent build quality I heard, and charged by USB. Plus it's portable.

A clean window on a bright and sunny day
Alright, everytime I try and buckle down and really get fucking good, I always feel over whelmed by all the books and such. Even if I just try and read Fun With a Pencil I still am confused on where to start. How do you guys read art books? Do I just read everything and try to replicate something? Am I missing something? Am I prime autismo?
It's a source of knowledge
>draw thing
>hey my drawing doesn't look right
>conclude that I need to learn how to draw anatomy properly
>open anatomy book
>"this muscle connects here and here and it looks like this"
>okay now I get it
>draw better
I really don't see what you're having trouble with
>>2377727
yeah it's hard to explain I guess but what I mean is I'm trying to just focus on finishing Fun With a Pencil, but I don't know how to approach the book. The book doesn't really tell the reader when to follow along so I don't know what exercises I'm supposed to be doing. Like there's a whole page on baby faces before the pages that explain the basic head shape. Am I missing something?
>>2377732
>Fun with Pencil
You fell for the ebin menes. If you must do Loomis, start with "Drawing Heads & Hands". "Fun with Pencil" was his first book and he didn't know how to write back then. Well, later he also didn't know how to write, but it was better.
Also it's fucking 2 0 1 6, come on! You have youtube and Proko videos that can give you Loomis knowledge handed in easy and fun format in like 10 minutes or so, so you can grasp a concept immediately instead of wandering "wtf did he write in those 4 pages of musings?".
Also drawabox and "Keys to Drawing".
Man, fundamental thing - if one source doesn't work for you, try something else. Do you really think you can learn gesture only from special artistic photoshoots? You can as easily download sports videos in HD and draw frames.
What are some fun methods in practicing anatomy.
drawing forms in two point perspective
>>2372003
what are your points of interest? try going from there
if not, doing studies of porn you like is always a good alternative
>>2372015
somewhere I picked up that perspective is implied everywhere even when we're just drawing bullshit. that's so obvious but something I'm still sturggling to do
help this newfag see what practicing anatomy with perspective looks like
