Is he the most overrated philosopher ever?
Marx is.
>>75411
>Marx
>a philosopher
Pick one
>>75392
He's overrated amongst his fanboys, but vastly underrated amongst his critics.
Who can really do the general accounting right with such a polarizing man?
No. He was right about everything.
>tfw his whole philosophy was just him trying to convince himself not to commit suicide
>>75411
Marx is overrated but I wouldn't call him a philosopher. Philosophers are smart.
>>75411
> Marx overrated.
> Hasn’t read Hegel, Aristotle.
> Lacks opinion on Leninist-leftism and interpretation of Marxism.
> Probably hasn’t read a lot of Marx.
No, Nietzsche isn’t overrated. People tend to blow him out of proportion without actually accessing the text and spout buzz-wordy quotes. Have to agree with previous anon: >>76977
It's Saul Kripke
he stole his whole modal program from Ruth Barcan Marcus
his """Wittgenstein interpretation""" is one of the worst academic texts I have ever encountered he talks about Wittgenstein's "fundamental problem presented in the investigations" (he seems to think it may have been titled the Philosophical Investigation by the looks of it) and his "proposed theory" (yes he uses the word theory in talking about wittgenstein). People think his interpretation so laughable they call it Kripkenstein (like Hubert Dreyfus' interpretation of Heidegger, Dreydegger)
in one of his papers he legitimately argues "IF MINDS AND BRAINS ARE NECESSARILY IDENTICAL, THEN WHY IS IT THAT I CAN IMAGINE PAIN NOT BEING C-FIBER SIMULATION?" (I'm not even kidding)
also he's an orthodox jew
He's a lot of fun to read and got so close to discovering the scapegoat mechanism, but he found himself on the other side of it and instead went insane.
Definitely overrated in the sense of how he is worshiped by edgelords and hipsters who have never actually read him. Also overrated in terms of theory and positive contributions (all his best contributions are negative)
All that said I like him and enjoy reading him

Ubermensch pls go
>>75392
I guess so.
Zizek is by far
>>77258
Why the fuck would I willingly spend time reading Marx?
>>77551
> Criticizes Marxism, doesn’t read Marx.
Nice.
Because Marxism is dynamic and its analysis has significant merit in all the dynastic forms of capitalism, including late capitalism of the 21st century.

>Sartre over anyone
wew lad
>>77449
>Sarte
you lose the game so hard that I just won the game.
>>75392
No. He is.
He was cool. just bitter and edgy
the most overrated philosopher will always be Sartre.
>>78209
>>78165
pls go to >>>/qa/319933 for discussion about this.
>anyone other than Zizek being the most overrated
Nigga pls. Also, close second is either Plato or Descartes.
>>80109
philosophy is not literature.
>>75392
I like him because he's pretty much stoicism and nihilism combined and both are logical.
>>80109
Pretty sure philosophy belongs to the humanities.
>>80271
I've seen it and I disagree with it, keep your emotional self-discovery bedtime story books to yourself and stop conflating it with philosophy.
>>80205
you are a supreme retard and have never even read about nitzsche, I have never read anything more wrong in my entire life
If he is overrated, then he can't be too overrated to cause such controversies as the question the OP raises.
Being the source of such praise and derision shows a certain consistency with his own philosophy that other philosophers like Schopenhauer didn't maintain.
>Not talking about Schopenhauer
>The most fitted philosopher for 4chan.
I'd rate him higher as an author who wrote edgy, cool sounding stuff for an adolescent audience.
As a philosopher he's a real mixed bag of a kind, too inconsistent and self-contradictory but maybe that's supposed to be the appeal?
Great read but not more than that.

you misinterpret my intentions.

the threads here have been good. stop being such a fucking elitist
