The Republic's first order of business: should /rome/ cover both the western and eastern (byzantine) Roman Empire, or should we allow Byzantine to be is own general?
>board exists for literally less than an hour
>it already has generals
Pure cancer. Stop this.
>>663
Just had to make a fucking general.
>>663
Byzantine is a creation of the Germans to pretend like their Holy "Roman" Empire was one and undermine the real Romans. At no point in their history have the Western Romans called themselves Byzantines. The fact that modern Greek called hemselves Ellenes again instead of Romans is also a relatively recent thing. Where Ellene(Greek) had a pagan connotation but Roman had a Christian one.

factually incorrect
Byzantine = Roman Empire
There shall be no separation
The WRE and the ERE were not exactly separate entities

All the worst boards are littered with generals.
Generals devolve very quickly to tripfag circlejerks.
They limit the variety on other threads and clutter the catalog.
Generals are the worst thing to have happened to this website in the last 5 years, which is really saying something.
>>1111
Congrats on the first quads anon
>>1111
wew lad
fuck byzantine
>>1112
The board is new, why the fuck do you need a general. Do you want to make a continues thread every fucking day about Roman history? Nigga this ain't /vg/. Don't need a general to circle jerk.
>>663
/rome/ should cover the kingdom of the rome, the republic, western, eastern and holy empires and so on. There's not going to be enough traffick to warrant split generals and they're all so linked it makes sense to keep it together in one thread.
baka desu senpai
Rome died after Hadrian. One or two exceptions, but it's all shit from then on.

>not liking the republic
Will /rome/ be a place to discuss Latin literature and so on, or just historyl?
>>1770
This. The Republic was the glory days of Rome. From the Gracchi to the Battle of Actium is by far the most interesting period in Rome's history.
>>1774
The board is now History & Humanities. So there's no reason not to discuss the books as well.
>>1378
Julianus was pitiful, in that his reign ended very quickly and was the result of the extreme corruption of the praetorian guard.
Elegabalus was a literal trannie who had himself fucked silly in orgies with the most well hung men in the Roman empire.

I personally love all eras of the roman empire. Late era is one of my favorites along with the punic wars
>>2017
Asuka a best.
>>1774
Sure. You can discuss literature on /his/ in relation to history, such as the propaganda values The Aeneid had on Augustus' regime, but as for discussing the literary devices on a non-historical level, that should be reserved for /lit/.
first for Baetica
:(
Don't worry senators, I totally want Rome to become a republic once again.
Let me just kill my former ally and continue this temporary rule for 40 years.
>>2033
The Punic Wars were great too. I love how the Romans had the ability to mobilise so many men.

But /lit/ is filled with pretentious arseholes.

Give it a week or two. You could post basically anything that wasn't illegal on /mlp/ when they made that for like, four months before they got any moderation.
It's not like they consider /his/ any less of a containment board.
