Julius Caesar, Fidel Castro, Napoleon I. All three took a broken-ass system and rectified it with impunity. If people aside from the start of the dynasty (I do like Raul) could do the same I might be a monarchist.

If Julius Nyerere, Ahmed Sékou Touré, Robert Mugabe, Francisco Macias Nguema, Idi Amin or Agostinho Neto had died after only a few years of rule, they would be considered heroes too.
>>
>>39697

They aren't, you're just a hipster that loves big unkempt beards and large framed glasses
>>
>>39946

Not really. Pinochet's policies were a disaster until the 1982 economic crisis, after that he went full liberal and by 1987 the economy was quickly improving.

Even though the first years of democracy had like a 7% average growth, some economists argue that the tax reform of 1991 affected Chile's ability to sustain that rate and decreased productivity.

Chilean economy was ok from 1977 to 1981, 1982 and 1983 were terrible, then everything went better since 1986.
Also, Aylwin's tax and labor reforms in 1990 fucked a lot of things in the 90's, same with that retarded indian act.

he is playing with fire in Syria at the moment, he runs a serious risk of Russian involvement escalating and getting bogged down a la Soviet-Afghan war

especially since the SAA are seemingly incompetent, even with Russian air support backing them up. Still, I hope they destroy ISIS
>>
>>40735
Just wait. They want to show the whole world that there really aren't any "moderate terrorists".
So they deal with SAA and FSA-like shitheads alike.
I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the next year "the opposition" was completely eradicated.
>>
>>40735
Nah. He's pretty much just doing this to keep NATO on its toes; an actual unreserved military action in Syria by ANY world power could have the situation wrapped up in weeks.
>>
>>40735
Is that not his plan? To start World War III?

Strange, when I went to Tanzania everyone spoke really highly of him as the founder of the country and said he was very good with removing tribal divisions. I was mainly visiting a wealthy catholic school, so maybe social class has something to do with it. Interesting how leaders can divide opinions so much, even when they obviously fuck up.
