Why do we gloss over the worst atrocity committed by Americans, the treatment of the Native Americans? Is it because they're tucked away on reservations? What a nightmare welfare state they are is another subject entirely

They were warring tribes who would use up an area of land until it was shitty, go kill the next tribe over, and use that land until it was shitty. Fuck them, they sucked and still suck.

What kind of historical revisionism is this?

The real historical revisionism is this "contaminated blankets meme". There is no proof whatsoever to back it, save an ambiguous letter.

If some Muslim decrees Western culture barbaric, would it give him the right to attack Western people and invade their land?
I don't deny that Native Americans were violent and conquest brought a higher technological living to them, but if I personally had the choice between being an outcast in my native land vs having a sense of community and dignity in a slightly less advanced country, I would choose the latter. It's not like they couldn't have traded without needing to be murdered and overrun by Europeans.
>>
>>288473
>Germs were only discovered in 19th century
But people knew about biological warfare way before that, the Mongols throwing their own infected corpse on a Genoese city started the black death.

They people of the past weren't idiots, they might not have understood how germs spread bacteria but by that point many were familiar with cause and effect.

Like how dead plague bodies can spread plague. Or how their clothes and blankets can too. You think diseased dead were burned for funsies?

How's your cardio? ;)

The reason is because if it were analyzed, neckbeards like this would be unable to have any sense of high ground and realize his ancestors committed mass murder in a most dishonorable fashion. How is he supposed to have a self image of superiority then? Most certainly not by looking in the mirror. Native Americans have a very powerful spirit and served as a vicious lesson to the U.S. of the necessary practice of genocide in order to completely subjugate an opponent or else they cannot accomplish conquest a la Vietnam. With kekolds like this beta faggot cocksucker now representing much of the white race, the racial zeitgeist is extremely fragile and it is crucial to not remind him of his white guilt lest it trigger him and his urge to slaughter innocent women and children and have sex with other men.

Because America never lost a war to a conquering nation therefore it has never been made to answer for its horrific crimes. Same reason why Stalin was allowed to die peacefully in sleep.

Right. Which is why Americans never answered for black slavery and the confederacy.

You know that Native American tribes possessed a full range of temperaments just as diverse as European kingdoms right? Like yeah, some like the Comanche loved the fuck out of raiding and pillaging but there were plenty that were content with cohabitation with European settlers and even assimilating into European society.

It's like posting a picture of a liberated concentration camp or any of the other countless human rights abuses in western history.

Sure, they knew that being near a corpse made you sick, but they had no idea as to why it made you sick. The claim that they knew that the sickness could be latched onto objects and transmitted requires evidence.

>>288515
>You think diseased dead were burned for funsies?
They thought the plague spread through bad smell. It was to eliminate the smell.
>>
>>288603
>there were plenty that were content with cohabitation with European settlers and even assimilating
Right, why do liberals always forget to mention those? Why do liberals never mention the countless indian tribes who fought on the side of the confederacy? You tell me.
>>
>>288629
I don't know, the Natives are relatively forgotten unfortunately so the global perception of them has distilled down to what pop culture has made of them which is either an Apache brave stalking stalking settlers in a canyon or of Wampanoag peacefully exchanging feast trappings with the pilgrims.

I am not a Native Americanboo but I did take an interest in their history after discovering the complete lack of even basic education that people have about them.
>>
>>288629
a lot of modern politics is centred around creating and vilifying an enemy to serve as a scapegoat, hence most people willingly forget certain parts of history because they're after a narrative that fits their worldview. Hence Cortez had no giant native army, no blacks fought in the american civil war, there was no arab slave trade and colonialism is the greatest evil in the world

Colonialism was pretty fucking evil though. That part is definitely right. I knew that's like the reactionary perspective to take and 4chan is the home of knee jerk, ill informed opinions solely facilitated by an urge to be different but yeah no colonialism lasted a long fucking time and in a lot of different places.

You best believe the European powers were a harsh mistress. And my mistress I mean foreign country that ruled over you with an iron fist and still claimed to have the moral high ground for it
>>

Please leave.
>>
>>288747
>"Those white lads didn't do anything wrong! They were upstanding members of the Anglican church and putting behind them that rough and tumble reprobate lifestyle! They need more wealth for those colonial administrative offices!"
>Colonialism was the British India from Rudyard Kipling novels

Please be less retarded? Imperialist colonialism by definition was exploitive as fuck.
>>
>>288769
>Imperialist colonialism by definition was exploitive as fuck.
With the exception of the Congo Free State, which wasn't even a colony but Leopold's private property, and of the carribean slaves colonies of the 1600s and 1700s, all colonies were run at a loss.

No, colonialism was not "exploitative as fuck". Stop drinking the marxist kool aid.
>>
>>288742
Large portions of what most people think of as colonialism is the result of private companies gone rouge, your pic for example. Nobody denies that ABIR and Leopold did nasty shit in the Congo, but worst things happened in the vast dictatorship that followed. The general opinion of colonialism is that it means exploitation and it is the only functional definition, which is objectivity wrong, its become a buzzword standing for general evil committed by a faceless people who you've no proof had any personal interaction with but still use it to decry a population. Case in point, its the Norman conquest of England but the English colonisation of Ireland.
Colonialism did some fucked up things, sure, but anything positive is washed out by meaningless repetition of the negative to the point where the vast majority of people cannot comprehend the idea of anything positive coming out of it.
The harrowing of the north is more of a genocide than anything the brits did in India, only ones a paragraph in a book and the other a national identity
>>
>>288559
By being a part of the most powerful nation in the history of the world. Because of this I don't need to learn how to fight.
>>
If they weren't strong enough to hold onto their lands they didn't deserve them.
>>
>>288455
Not really. I think there's maybe one or two references to British soldiers in the colonial days ordering someone to do it in the Colonial days but that's it. It was mainly just a result of normal interaction and disease being spread that way. It certainly wasn't a case of what, say, the Mongols would do in catapulting dead bodies over walls.
>>
>>288779
>all colonies were run at a loss.
Do you honestly think India was run at a loss? How many paint chips did you eat as a child?

You had a successful invading force. The Native Americans failed to protect their race. It's over. They are done. The strongest survive. It's natural selection at its finest. The weak die and the strong emerge. They got what nature intended.

i went to the navajo/hopi reservations and it was like africa, so jarring considering how rich Arizona is

>Why do we gloss over
I've literally never seen anybody try to downplay what happened with the Native Americans.

It's not like there's anything we can do about it at this point in time.
>>
>>290856
>WERE THE SMALLPOX BLANKETS A MYTH?
Yes, it's a myth.

There was ONE instance of English officer before American Revolution suggesting the use of smallpox blankets to infect the population of natives they were currently fighting but it never actually happened.

There was a smallpox outbreak while American troops were handling Native Americans but there is no evidence of them intentionally spreading it.

The whole myth started because of a Native American history professor fabricating evidence. His lies actually made it into some school textbooks before he was dismissed from the university for his actions.
