>"There was literally nothing wrong with ________"
Because it was the most sincere, genuine crusade where Western christendom actually worked together to achieve the goal of reclaiming the holy land for christianity. Once they achieved that goal, there was no real purpose for them to continue crusading, and the rest of the crusades were driven either by men wishing to win glory or wealth, for the most part. The rest were basically a tug of war for the territories originally gained by the crusaders in the first crusade

>inb4 "my uncle was a mennonite killing 6000 scumfuck kulak shits is literally genocide"
>where Western christendom actually worked together
You mean like half a dozen insignificant noblemen from France, the Netherlands and Germany
>actually worked together
Which were locked in constant infighting and a power struggle about who should lead the crusading armies?
>goal was to protect the byzantines/reconquer the holy lands
>first one was the only one that mattered
>subsequent attempts failed
>holy lands stated in Muslim hands for the next few centures
Tell me again, how does the first one succeeding matter? That's like saying your first bout of chemotherapy was the only one that mattered because it put you in remission even if you ended up dying of cancer anyways
