>>

He has some sort of problem with his nose, I hear.
>>
My uni philosophy teacher had no idea who Zizek is. I'm not sure what to think in regards to that.
>>
Does anyone get the impression his writing style is almost trying to intentionally be incoherent, like Nietzsche or Dostoevsky? I think he has merits with his ideas on anti-capitalism not necessarily -having- to be classical Marxism, but at times, he just pisses me off.

I only get a fraction of what he says but he's a lot of fun. His movies; The Pervert's Guide to Cinema and The Pervert's Guide to Ideology are pretty great. If you haven't seen them they're a good introduction to his thinking. He uses well known movies to make his points which I think makes him easier to understand. If you haven't seen most of David Lynch's movies you might want to do that first though, he talks about Lynch a lot.

>my writings bear the stamp of honesty and openness so distinctly on the face of them, that by this alone they are a glaring contrast to those of three celebrated sophists of the post-Kantian period. I am always to be found at the standpoint of reflection, i.e. , rational deliberation and honest statement, never at that of inspiration, called intellectual intuition, or absolute thought; though, if it received its proper name, it would be called empty bombast and charlatanism.

>Hegelians are early accustomed to take the hollowest jingle of words for philosophical thoughts, the most miserable sophisms for acuteness, and silly conceits for dialectic, and their minds are disorganised through the admission of mad combinations of words to which the mind torments and exhausts itself in vain to attach some thought. No Critique of Reason can avail them, no philosophy, they need a medicina mentis, first as a sort of purgative, un petit cours de senscommunologie, and then one must further see whether, in their case, there can even be any talk of philosophy.

yes and most of the time every single one of them is actually very shallow and ceases to be relevant very quickly.
Of course hes a great theoretic philosopher inside his medium, but everything that leaves the empty blabberism of his freudian lacanian hokuspokus actually often is empty and shit.

Yeah it's a nervous tick created by habitual cocaine usage in order to make sure 0% of cocaine escapes out of the nostrils to give them polo nose, a condition whereby white powder visibly crusts around your nostrils; it's not a good look if you're a public figure and you often see celebrities and people on camera/ on reality tv awards shows etc. doing it and it makes me feel highly uncomfortable for one.

Exactly. If Nietzsche was a follower of Scophenhauer in anything, it would first of all be the Godlike stylistic achievements: >>283360

Whenever someone accuses Nietzsche of obscurity in general (rather than on a specific point) I can only assume they haven't read much of him, or lack the modest intellectual prerequisites for reading him. It says much more about the reader than the writer when the charge is made in this context. Nietzsche was spot on when he described the rules of style to be about attracting the ears of worthy readers and warding off everyone else.

I forgot to mention a third thing, which is a extremely common reaction to the great Idol-tapper: cognitive dissonance.
