How did Korea get _constantly_ fucked over throughout history? Korea probably enjoyed more prolonged periods of peace and independence than the vast majority of nations in the world thanks to numerous successful defenses against invasions and shrewd diplomacy when necessary. People don't even understand the Chinese tribute system. It was symbolic and the only means of official trade between nations in premodern Asia, but people assume that China conquered Korea or something. Even according to the Chinese tribute system, Korea was considered the #2 ranked country after China. Korea too received numerous tribute from neighbors including Japan. Korea only started getting royally fucked over beginning in the late 19th century and that's where Korea's shitty reputation comes from. Makes me scratch my head when people actually think Korea got fucked over throughout history. Don't you guys actually want knowledge of history and not just convenient memes?
