What would have happened if the German High Command decided to abandon the Schlieffen plan at the onset of WWI, and instead only defended along the Franco-German border/fell back to the Rhine, and concentrated on taking out Russia first? Would Britain have entered the war without the pretext of the invasion of Belgium? Even accounting for British assistance, any French offensives could have been quite easily repelled for many years. The French would have exhausted their reserves much sooner than a German Empire on the defense, so after taking out Russia, the freed up German troops could have overrun the French on the Western front eventually. Could Germany have won WWI if only it wasn't for the Schlieffen plan?

We know for a fact that the Schlieffen plan doesn't work so trying almost anything else makes sense. Invading Belgium was a mistake because it brought Britain, and by extension the USA, into the war. If it had just been Germany fighting Russia, I'm not sure that anybody would have been willing to intervene on Russia's behalf. Russia has always kind of had a bad reputation. Another factor to consider is that WW1 was a war that definitely favored the defender, so I'd rather be defending against a potential French attack rather than invading France. But then again, same applies to Russia. Much better to be defending than invading.

why doesn't the plan work? It nearly did save for the weighting back towards Lorraine by molke, and even then it was fucked up by Bulow in particular

You fags fail to realize how significant the german early win was

Olga Borisovna Lepeshinskaya was a Soviet biologist, a personal protegée of Vladimir Lenin, later Joseph Stalin, Trofim Lysenko and Alexander Oparin. She rejected genetics and was an advocate of spontaneous generation of life from inanimate matter.

Lepeshinskaya completed her study as a feldsher in St. Petersburg in 1887 and practised at various places in Siberia. In 1898 she joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party and later the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In 1903 she and her husband left Russia and went into exile to Switzerland for three years. In 1915, she completed her medical training in Moscow.

Lepeshinskaya was a participant in the October Revolution. She lectured at the University of Medicine in Moscow until 1926, briefly interrupted by a 1919 stay at the Tashkent University, then worked at the Kliment Timiryazev Institute of Biology. In 1941 she became the head of the Department of Live Matter at the Institute of Experimental Biology, USSR Academy of Medical Sciences for the remainder of her career.

In the 1920s Lepeshinskaya discredited the work of her supervisor, Alexander Gurvitch, who investigated biophotons and mitogenic rays. She claimed that low doses of ultraviolet light were released by dying cells that had been treated with high doses of UV light. Later she claimed that cells could propagate by disintegration into granules which could generate new forms of cells, different from the parental cells. Also, crystals of inorganic matter could be converted into cells by adding nucleic acids. Further, she espoused spontaneous generation and the presence of a "vital substance". These claims were propagated as official dogma in the Soviet Union. A claim that soda baths fostered rejuvenation led to a temporary shortage of baking soda. She based her career on claims to observe de novo emergence of living cells from non-cellular materials, supporting such claims by fabricated proofs which were "confirmed" by others eager to advance in the politicized scientific system. Actually, she filmed the death and subsequent decomposition of cells, then projected these films reversed.

In May 1950 at the special symposium "Live Matter and Cell Development" for the USSR Academy of Sciences and the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences that was supported by Stalin and chaired by Alexander Oparin, Lepeshinskaya gave the keynote speech, and her "discoveries" were celebrated as revolutionary by the invited audience. She was the recipient of the Stalin Prize for that year, and her ideas became mandatory instruction in biology. In 1952 a second conference took place to demonstrate "using experimental methods" that the bourgeois Virchowian concept of cell development (only a living cell can produce another cell) was replaced by a "new dialectical-materialistic theory on the origin of all living cells from non-living matter." While her impact and dogmatic dominance have parallels to those of Lysenko, her claims were never officially renounced but just faded away.

She involved her daughter Olga and her son-in-law Vladimir Kryukov in her work; in contrast, her husband, Panteleimon Lepechinsky, thought little of it. "Don’t you listen to her. She’s totally ignorant about science and everything she’s been saying is a lot of rubbish" he told a visitor.

Lepeshinskaya worked well into her eighties and died in Moscow at the age of 92 from pneumonia.

>The Soviet Union actually funded her work for forty years.

Can we talk about multiregional theory?
What are the arguments against it? It makes a hell of a lot of sense to me from an evolutionary standpoint, and I feel like the insistence on single origin is a relic from Judeo Christian belief.
Pic kinda related, Neanderthal descendant

It's often exaggerated and distorted by proponents until it Just Happens to line up with 1800s race theory

Ok, yes, this is problematic, but not a reason that disproves anything.

Genetics.
>Neanderthal descendant
<3% Neanderthal >97% H.sapiens

The theory thats popular now is H.sapiens originated in Africa and mixed with local Hominids. Eurasians have Neanderthal and/or Denisovan. East Asians actually have higher percentages of Neanderthal which is interesting.

So really its a mix of the two theories. Also phenotypes can shift over a 1000 years or less given environmental conditions and if the phenotype is governed by multiple unlinked alleles.

Say an illiterate Moroccan carpet trader walks into a cafe in Paris circa 1900 and is poured a glass of wine because that's all they have. What happens next? Is he aware of the existence of wine? Is he aware that it is actually haram?

>>

In what circumstances does an illiterate Moroccan carpet trader find himself on his own in a foreign city without having any knowledge of local language and culture before the advent of cheap mass travel? Also in what case would a cafe only have one kind of drink?
>>
>>2881230
The fact that you think people in Morocco have no idea what wine is, that people can't smell alcohol, and that you don't know what wine smells like tells me you are a literal child. Not to be disparaging but you are a young teenager yes.

So as we all know mythology is mixxed and muddled with history of the ancient world when it is placed in any form of media, any book, television show, article on a news or entertainment site, video, video game, or mostly comic book takes heavily from mythology and ancient history everywhere even meso american and african mythology, but there seems to be one place that lacks any notice despite being very close and also very modern compared to places like egypt for example, whereas people had to go out in the desert and dig up buried tablets and buildings to find, in irealand wouldn't this be just as findable as say viking nordic mythos?

Why is irish celtic mythology so none existent?

I assume it's because Irish mythology and history was not as moralistic and purposed as other sources.

While you could get a clear moral out of the history of rome or the mythology of greece you the irish gods and its history were wrapped in mystery and shadowed in vagueness. It's arbitrary and not moldable for a purpose.

Genociding and massacring the natives

So I've been reading the script for "The Great War" and I'm completely flabbergasted.

>Some literal who Prince gets shot
>Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia
>...
>All major powers are now engulfed in the conflict
>The most intense fighting the world has yet seen consumes most of Europe and their colonies
>Millions die
>Several empires collapse
>Several monarchs abdicate

I mean, seriously? What have the writers been smoking? This is so unrealistic, they need to tone it down.

Nationalism = Looking out for my countrymen as if they were myself

Now, why simply extend this to:

Egalitarianism = looking out for ALL MEN as if they were myself

What the hell makes the former a superior moral system? What arguments can possibly be made for nationalism?

Consider the perspective of the Muslim in your picture.

The crusader unironically believes he is doing the right thing, but why should the Muslim look out for him? In the real world things are less extreme, but the same principle applies. I am sure many foreigners are good people, but the majority do not share my Anglo-Saxon values and will go right ahead and violate my rights and believe they are justified in doing so if they have the opportunity. Looking out for them beyond helping them recover from a Tsunami or whatever would not be utilitarian.

Is it xenophobia? Some immigrants want Shariah law but I haven't mentioned them until now. I am talking about the majority of moderates not a minority of whackos. Until the majority of immigrant groups vote for conservative/libertarian parties it is a fact.
