Name a better conqueror than Genghis Khan.
His generals and successors.

Meh. Most of the expansion the Mongols did was under his successors. Also his generals were what won him battles.

For Christianity to be correct instead of Gnosticism only two criteria would need to be met:
1. Every person has their own unique Soul
2. The creator has one a soul of his own, and he incarnates as a person like everyone else while simultaneously running the Cosmos; system admin and player simultaneously.
Prove me wrong!
Protip- you can't!

At least some sects of Gnosticism accept the trinity to my knowledge.
Christianity was originally a monotheistic religion with astrological aspects, so what changed? Why is saying this now seen as heretical and never spoken about by religious spokesmen despite being what the religion was founded upon?
>>2884967
>with astrological aspects
What are you talking about?
Here's a funny thing
"son of god" didn't actually mean literal son, it was a nickname/title given to holy people
yet christians took it literally
retards
>>2884971
The story of the creation of earth was originally based around deities based on the Earth, The Sun and Saturn. As well as Christian Holy Locations and days having Astrological Significance, The day Easter Falls depends on the moon, Christmas and the Winter Solstice.
Why do Tunisians LARP as Carthaginians when they have less than 1% Phoenician blood?
Do any Tunisians adopt Punic names like Hannibal or Hasdrubal?

And I assume you have some fabled source for that number?

I am not OP but I would also like to know some things.
Why do the ancient Egyptians, who were clearly far and away more advanced than the Sumerians, often get second play to the Sumerians? Meaning, they were both around about the same time and yet everyone's like, "oh the sumerians were first they developed writing first."
Also, what does that have to do with OP's question and then everyone seemingly fearful about "Mystery Babylon" and yet everyone seemingly loving the ancient Egyptians, historically speaking I mean.
There seems to be a lot of ignorance on this board about Islam.
Some people don't even seem to realise that Prophet Jesus (pbuh) was a Muslim.
>>2884472
No He wasn't
Go away
And behold, We said to the angels: “Bow down to Adam” and they bowed down. Not so Iblis (Satan): he refused and was haughty: he was of those who reject Faith. (2: 34)
It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels bow down to Adam, and they bowed down; not so Iblis; He refused to be of those who bow down. (God) said: “What prevented thee from bowing down when I commanded thee?” He said: “I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay.” (God) said: “Get thee down from this: it is not for thee to be arrogant here: get out, for thou art of the meanest (of creatures).” (7: 11–13)
Behold! We said to the angels: “Prostrate unto Adam”: They prostrated except Iblis (Satan): He said, “Shall I prostrate to one whom Thou didst create from clay?” He said: “Seest Thou? This is the one whom Thou hast honoured above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my sway – all but a few!” (17: 61–62)

Prophet Jesus (pbuh) was the second to last prophet of God and a devout Muslim.

ITT:
>First, we state the basis for both the Bible and the Koran (general information)
>Then we discuss in what ways both respectively impacted both society and politics
The Bible is based on the Tora and was extended by the new testament (1200 B.C. - 135 A.D.)
Is it a legitimate argument between two opposing parties in a theological discussion for one of them to quote The Bible as evidence of the correctness of christianity? Surely the other party isn't obliged at all to accept it. Same applies to other revealed religions.
>>2883863 we should keep this as objective as possible.
This is more about the historical side than about the religious side of things.

The Germans believed the war would end before the onset of winter. They thought it would be over in a few weeks or months.
Even outside of winter the Russian rasputitsa season was extremely detrimental to the German advance, if not worse than winter

So, /his/, I've been doing research on the Holocaust in various eastern European countries for a history report, and I've noticed that the importance of the non-Jewish victims seems to be minimized.
Weren't the Jewish victims only slightly over half of the total? Why is 6 million the number we are constantly taught in schools and why are the numbers of other victims unknown?
Pic somewhat related, just some of the countries I've been looking at.
Gays and retards are a minorities
Gypsies deserved it
>>2883268
Because tg holocaust is the term used for the killing of Jews in the 'final solution', it does not include Jews killed before that nor does it include the autistic, the mixed race or the Slavs, neither are gypsies but who cares about them
>>2883268
Who could be responsible for this overrepresantation?
Germany could have, and should have done more to help their Japanese allies in the east in hindsight.
Yes.
Germany would have done better to wash their hands of Japan entirely, desu.
>>2882890
You mean the opposite, the Japanese should have made deals with the KMT and waited to coordinate with Barbarossa.

There are many critiques of Islam as of late due to the cultural incompatibility the values and peoples of Muslim nations have with the west. But I have heard a line of critique saying that Islam is a plagiarist religion or a poor man's Christianity
How much water do these claims hold?
>>2882516
It's basically fanfiction of the Bible that thinks the Old Testament was way better, but didn't go far enough.
Although by that logic, Christianity is a knock-off whose only connection to the Old Testament is that it's supposedly the same God as before, with completely new characters and characterizations.
So yeah, it is a knock-off, but it's not as if it started the trend. There are a hell of a lot more legit reasons to critique Islam than that.
>>2882516
>saying that Islam is a plagiarist religion or a poor man's Christianity
Some Christians looked at it as another heresy from the desert when they first encountered it, and Muhammad likely did hang around with heretical Christians during his days as a merchant, but I don't think that you could ever definitively show that Muhammad was deliberately plagiarising. He apparently believed what he was saying.
>>2882516
No, because that would leave Christians open to being accused of stealing everything from the Jews, who could then be accused of stealing everything from the Sumerians etc etc etc.
Basically, you're criticising a religion on basic aesthetic grounds.
How does studying history make you feel rencently?
Does it make you feel smarter than people?
Do you regret studying it?
>>2882473
Interesting to know how varied we are.
I tend to want to inhabit the periods I read about. Just for a little while.
>>2882473
When I read books I always feel I am smarter than others.
But on other occasions, when I hear people speak about things I cannot agree with I feel stupid because no matter how long I study I never seem to be able to refute their arguments based on my studies
I often regret the time I spent on reading, when I think about practical issues
>>2882473
I studied hitory (graduate degree) because I'm genuinely interested in the historical roots of current affairs / global developments. That's why I specialised in modern political and diplomatic history (thesis on international relations between France and the UK during WWII).
I never regretted it - I'm trying to turn it into a career (diplomat/foreign policy consultant)
