Here is part 2...
And part 3.
here you go, take this on /wsr/ next time unless you are looking to start a thread for this sort of stuff
Why was Britain so autistic about maintaining a balance of power on the continent?
>>2918081
Fear is one thing, but there was also this notion that a lot of work had to be done to rid the bankers of their power had Germany been allowed to grow. That's not good for publicity.
So no one power could get enough resources to land on England or threaten the Empire. Divide and conquer.
>>2918081
Security and fear, two of the main driving motivations for any government throughout history.
Having one single nation on the European Continent that had the ability to defeat all other powers combined in a war would spell doom for the British Empire and everyone involved, and that fear was real with the unification of Germany and the triple alliance between them, Austria, and Italy.
After Germany and Italy's unification, the status quo set up by the Congress of Vienna was broken and all sides had to ensure their security some other way, leading to said triple alliance as well as the Entente between Britain, France, and Russia.
and all the European powers had full reason to fear Germany and the balance of power, with World War I proving that just Germany and Austria, along with the Ottomans, could hold back the entire might of Europe for 4 years, and only broke due to sheer exhaustion rather than some decisive military defeat.

Between positivism and Christian existentialism
When would you say that one is one allowed to write a book on a subject of History?
>allowed
what commie shithole do you live in where you aren't "allowed" to write a book whenever you feel like?
>>2917674
A book will be welcomed (or at least not outright rejected) by people if it's author is educated on the subject. People will dismiss the author if he lacks credentials.
when you know how to research sources, cite them properly, evaluate evidence, make a good argument, write in an engaging style that people want to read, and have an interesting topic.
Are Muslims inherantly more zealous than Christians?
Historically speaking Christians have always been more apt to convert to Islam than vise versa. Like in the case of Albania and the Bosniaks. The only case I can think of where Muslims converted to Christianity en masse was the reconquista, and even then most moriscos were expelled form Iberia. Additionally the title of Caliph and wars waged in the name of Islam seemed to carry alot more weight in the Muslim world than it did for Christians. Is there actually some koranic basis for Muslims being so zealous? Or have I just not seen as many cases of Christian religous zeal?
>>2917599
Christians don't truly believe in god , plain and simple
they are full of self doubt and take no action in their lives that would put themselves in danger for they question if heaven truly exists
>>2917599
I think it's just a matter of Middle East being unwilling to resolve conflicts decisively so they just keep a war of attrition where Christians become increasingly limited to the loyalest ones and Muslims free to take any converts without the opposite.
Christian societies tend to surround themselves with Christians. Muslims live among non-Muslims while ignoring them.
>>2917599
Islam has the unique aspect of it fashioning itself as the conclusion of God's communication with mankind in the Abrahamic tradition and the ultimate way to live life. With respect to this it makes little sense for a muslim to convert to what would be seen as a flawed and unpolished version of God's word. This also helps create a sense of urgency to convert others of the Abrahamic faiths in addition to severely limiting the tolerance for heresy. In this sense Islam is naturally more prone to zealotry than the other Abrahamic faiths. Only Judaism comes close and only because of a tradition of telling others to fuck off when facing forced conversion (sanctifying the name of god).
Christianity not only had to struggle to gain converts making it the underdog's religion for many years, but also suffered greatly by lacking the knowledge base of how to make the Abrahamic tradition attractive to a wider audience. Judaism was limited to a small ethno-religious group that seldom accepted converts. Christianity had to remake everything to appeal to non-jews. Islam did not have to suffer nearly as much in growing pains when there was already a great example across the desert in the ERE of how to get people to practice your faith. Martyrdom for the faith had by that point transformed into the idea that force-converting others by the sword was the ultimate form of religious piety. Islam merely needed to emmulate existing constructs of zealotry that were very successful across the Christian world and pair it with the conclusionary nature of the Islamic prophecy to create what might be seen as the ultimate form of religious dogma.
How would god react if everyone suddenly stopped believing? would he act or just leave earth be and send everyone to hell?
He would do exactly what he's doing right now.
>God reacts

But doesn't he want to be worshipped? I mean, if it's not what he wants then why even worship him?
Which people are the most aesthetically similar to ancient Egyptians?
...modern Egyptians?
>>2916990
Some modern Egyptians, but many of them look like Arabs. Egyptians never depicted themselves as bearded.

does religion influence society or does society influence religion?
Does the brain affect the body or vise versa?
>>2916397
Yes.
Not an or question.
>>2916397
Religion is just a product of society, unless you believe it was literally recanted by God to the prophets
We all know that mountains are great barriers against invasion. So why didn't France create a new set of mountains on the german borders after ww2?

Why are the parthian and sassanyd empire so overlooked in history books and general culture?
Where can i find some good documentaries about these? what were they like?
>>2916061
Personally, I would blame it on significance of Rome in period's history for European education, so most mentions of those states are limited to conflicts with Rome, and it's more often about Rome vs Parthia, rather than Rome vs Sassanids.
I think the big reason is lack of written material. Zoroastrianism kinda frowned on writing, so there isn't much at all. Whereas the literature from Rome fills whole libraries and spans every aspect of Roman life, from Emperors to the layman.
I'm a Persiaboo so it triggers me a bit tbqh.
>>2917938
Westerners did a lot of archaeology, but until now it's hard for them to get some manuscripts in those areas, I think. They get lost in libraries or kept private.
Was the invention of internet good or bad in your opinion?
>>2915865
Bad because I'm wasting my time on this website answering this question.
>>2915865
Good because it gave us Wikipedia
Bad because it lead to 4chan and social media becoming the cancer of the west.

He says that the French Resistance was mostly useless, they didn't fight the Germans but mostly between themselves, and that the Resistance killed almost the same amount of people than the Germans in France, with summary executions and reprisals.
>>2915753
By what I know he is right, there were much communist and other strong ideologies in french resistance, the refused allies help and were busy taking control of the resistance, so they could rule France after the war.
