/his/ could you give me a list of the most important wars on Roman History? I.e. Punic wars and beyond
>>3033845
Crisis of the Third Century
The Year of the Four Emperors
Basically Rome was in danger of total civil war and death until this true Roman stepped in to right the state of affairs.
>>3033972
Cool,
Why Japan don't surrender?
They did surrender. The nuclear bombs was a test on a populated area, and also a message for the Soviets.
>>3033795
Oh really? I'm not disagreeing that it was a message to Stalin, because it was. But where in the FUCK did the Japs surrender?
>>3033856
The Japanese Imperial Council was trying to end the war on their terms. Among these were:
1. The Emperor would remain on the throne.
2. There would be no war crimes trials.
3. There would be no occupation of the home islands.
That the first of these was accepted by the Allies after the surrender is generally given as the single reason that unconditional surrender was unacceptable to Japan and hence that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were unnecessary. The other conditions were clearly unacceptable to the Allies. The Japanese were trying to find intermediaries (Switzerland, Sweden, the USSR) to help negotiate an armistice. The US knew of these attempts through Magic and Ultra decyphers of communiques that Japanese diplomats were sent and sending. Failing to get an armistice on their terms, the Japanese military hoped to inflict such horrendous casualties on the US that the US would be willing to negotiate something less than unconditional surrender. To get a more complete view of the final days of WW II in the Pacific, I suggest reading Downfall: The End of the Imperial Japanese Empire by Richard B. Frank (in particular Chapter 14: Unconditional Surrender and Magic).
Stop being Roman
I'm the Roman now
>>3033746
Ill give it to you, Turks didnt do so bad at being Roman.
Surely better than Russia did, but not as good at the Catholic Church did.
>>3033746
to be fair though the turks were smart enough to let the conquered people not only rule over themselves but even share the rule over the whole empire. most grand viziers (= head of governement) were albanians, bosnians, greeks, etc... and so were most viziers (ministres) and pashas (governours).
>>3033746
They unified the middleeast which as we know today would have been way better off id we just let them keep charge. but there was no way the western powers were gona let that oil into their hands and the exploitation of rebel groups inside the ottoman empire's borders by the british empire had already gone too far. By the 1850s you could foreshadow that Islam was becoming more and more diverse and the Ottoman's attempts to control uprisings was starting to weaken. Had the Ottman empire industrialized faster they might have been able to keep their own, but with their increasing threats from all sides and internally there was just no way.
really is a shame though, We probably wouldnt have problems with terrorist groups and uprisings in the middleeast if the Empire was allowed to remain in power and govern over the area instead of exploiting the waring states by funding weapons. and working with oil tycoons.
The Western powers really should have just implemented the Ottoman Empire into Western Society after WW1 when they were at their weakest.
>Go to really nice looking cathedral in town
>There's a fucking giftshop in it
>They're also literally charging you to look around
Anglicanism.
Not even once.
>>3033640
Cathedrals and churches are expensive to maintain. To the tune of several thousand a day.
>>3033640
I think the major ones are free, but the more minor ones are self-funded, so you can't really begrudge them their continued existence and upkeep.
>>3033659
What is a purpose of a cathedral? Why someone can't pray on a hill or a small mountain, created, as they think, by God, instead of using a house created by humans?
>tfw seeing the solar/lunar dichotomy everywhere
really interested in some critiques of this that aren't brainlet-tier. Are they out there?
Most people on /his/ tend to ignore or get upset by Evola. At least, the last thread I started to discuss him resulted in massive amounts of misquoted and incorrectly cited materials criticizing him. This was likely done by both actual leftists and trolls. Regardless, I will be watching the thread. If nothing else, I can discuss with you OP.
>>3034810
I know, it's like pulling teeth trying to get good discussion going about this guy. I just want to read good criticisms of his work. Like is there anything egregiously wrong about his characterizations of solar/lunar cultures? What about his views on death? Can modernity be saved from within Evola's worldview, by specifically refuting his immanent teleology of history? Is there something he's missing?
>>3034848
>Can modernity be saved from within Evola's worldview
Not really. Evola was influenced pretty heavily by Theravada Buddhism, and generally in his later works he mentions how modernity is just a phrase that represents the current epoch of the viewer. As such, it is merely an illusory background upon which the soul crouched on the tiger engages in spiritual warfare against his adversary and triumphs.
Who would win in a boxing fight?
don't bully Charles, Charles a cute!

Is it safe to assume that sun worship is the oldest and most popular principle of religion? Every single culture in the world is familiar with the sun and day/night.
>>3033214
High cultures worshipped the sun, subhumans worshipped vaginas/women in general.
>>3033222
But anon, all cultures deified nature in someway and that's the tradtions sun worship is apart of
>>3033214
No. We clearly also have a strong 'thing' for rivers and boobs (mountains).
How much non-ironic We Wuzzin' do we get on both this board and 4chan overall? Wheter it's We Wuz Kangz, Jews, Greeks, Carthage, Romans, etc.
>>3033206
When will this obsession with this meme die already. It's nothing but a low hanging fruit for people to debunk to feel smart. Anti-wewuzzers are outnumbering actual we-wuzzers by far now.
>>3033206
Depends on what we define as ironic. The black supremacists definitely know it's fake but also (since they copy their tactics from the Nazis) they don't seem to care.
>>3033215
It's a nice escape from the stormfags and tankies trying (and failing) to take over this board.
Why were European powers largely unwilling to create a single state like China?
>>3033179
Why were African countries unwilling to just create a single state like China?
Why were S.E asian countries unwilling to just create a single state like China?
Why is Latin America unwilling to just create a single state like China?
>>3033193

Because they're all primitive cultures? Unlike China or the West.
>>3033179
Hmm interesting question. I'm actually curious too considering Europe is one of the smallest continents.
Nationalism that came about after the fall of the Greek and then Roman empires? Also natural land barriers like mountains, climate, and rivers(sea in case of British)?
Idk, Europeans just seem to be always fighting with each other.
>fought against the Communists
>rejected the Taliban and defended Kabul against them when the government collapsed
>refused to enforce strict Islamist norms in Northern Alliance territory, permitted women to seek education, uncover their heads and choose their husbands
>tried to warn the USA about 9/11 in April 2001
>murdered by al-qaeda on 9/9/2001
>by the time he died he was the last Northern Alliance holdout against Taliban forces
Could he have saved Afghanistan? Or was he just another corrupt warlord like Karzai?
>Karzai
>warlord

Better Red than Green.
Stalinism is the punishment the Middle East deserves.
>>3032865
Afghanistan destroyed the USSR
>I feel like I died in my sleep and woke up in hell
What religion or philosophy do you recommend for me, /his/?
>>3032527
Gnosticism
>>3032527
Bogomilism
>>3032527
Once I dreamt I went to hell and at the time I was basically agnostic so maybe don't be agnostic
Hello /his/, I am a fourth year university student working on my thesis in the field of social sciences. I have to mock up a chart detailing the various contributions of ethnic groups throughout the world and I am having great difficulty finding anything for sub-Saharan Africans. I've checked hundreds of academic resources and there isn't a single thing I can find that suggests sub-Saharan Africans have done anything ever at all. Why is this?
I believe communism is to blame.
>>3032454

You're telling me that you believe that Christ comes back to life every Sunday in the form of a bowl of crackers... and then you proceed to just eat the man?

As a cannibal savage, shouldn't you be amenable to this wonderful faith of ours?
>I'm an Atheist Christian
>I'm Jewish but I don't believe in God
How do these people function?
>>3032420
They're the true alphas. Beta like you won't understand.
>>3032420
>I'm an Atheist Christian
He probably meant to say agnostic christian or he is retarded.
>I'm Jewish but I don't believe in God
Jews are both a religous group and an ethnic group.
>>3032420
it's basically what jordan peterson is preaching, right?
There is no prove god actually exists and it will remain unprovable, yet we need a certain valuesystem/goals in life; we just evolved that way. So in order to have a productive life you should LARP as a christian even if you don't believe in god, since biblical stories tell a transcendant truth delivered over millions of generations condensed into one fun to read book. It gives you strength
