what if the kieven rus chose islam over orthodox christianity?
>>3042866
they would have to develop into a splinter group that adds a ajet saying grain alchohol and destilled water are pure and loved by god
Then Communist Russia would've never existed
Islam would have conquered europe?

Yeah, but West Philo went far downhill after them.
How did the Persians called themselves and their country/empire ? I mean isn't "persian" a name given by the greeks to describe them ?
>>3038105
Depends on which Persian empire you're referring to.
The Achaemenids called it simply "Khshassa." Meaning "The Empire."
The Parthians called theirs the Arsacid Kingdom
The Sassanids called theirs Ehranshahr (Kingdom of Iranians)
>>3038155
Sorry for the specifing I was referring to the Achaemenids. So they literally called their country "the Empire" ?
>>3038180
Yes. If only because its the only name the Persians referred to their empire in surviving sources.
> Daryaee, edited by Touraj; A. Shapour Shahbazi (2012). The Oxford handbook of Iranian history. Oxford: Oxford University Press. p. 131. ISBN 978-0-19-973215-9. Retrieved 29 December 2016. Although the Persians and Medes shared domination and others were placed in important positions, the Achaemenids did not -- could not -- provide a name for their multinational state. Nevertheless, they referred to it as Khshassa, "the Empire".
It's not unique in history, you see shit like that a lot. China for example went for the longest time simply by the name "Tianxia" (All Under Heaven, literally. But meaning "Empire.") before Zhongguo (middle state) became the proper name. In medieval European history, when someone says "the Empire." it just refers to the HRE.

What did he mean by this?

That he's not a real historian.

Wasn't he the same guy that translated "Judentransport" (plural) into singular?
Also wasn't he the one who tried arguing that Hitler never got Himmler's note of "number of Jews executed", despite the fact that the document was marked as "Shown to the Fuhrer"?

No, you're mistaking The Holy Spirit for the vicar of St. Peter
What's with the visor? Is he welding another crusifix?
Is it actually true? I see Indian nationalists decry it as this racist conspiracy and Varg tier stormfags use it to explain how whites created every civilization on earth.
Scandinavians also have autistic meltdowns about the idea that they might descend from a bunch of rapists from Ukraine.

Should historians use propaganda as a means to study history?
How can we trust the propaganda being pushed in the media today if it's misconstrued to serve an agenda?
Video related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtEkRpGpHE8
In history, we can observe the misinformation yellow journalist would push as a means of propaganda. We can clearly observe this today. How can we make sure we don't repeat the same mistakes today? Why do historians use propaganda to justify the means of pushing the agenda?
Pic unrelated.
>>3042474
Was Goebbels a propaganda?
>>3042474
All primary sources are useful, anon. Part of studying history properly is recognising sources have bias and accounting for it.
For example if you are studying Nazi Germany it is best to remember that Josef Goebbels was literally propaganda minster for Nazi Germany and to appropriately interpret anything he says with that bias in mind.
>>3042483
Yes, any form of media is a form of propaganda and Goebbels was the propaganda minister. He differentiates different forms of propaganda in the video posted in the OP.

Specifically why was it created as a state comprised of multiple cultures and peoples instead of several smaller nations?
>>3042355
So that it would be a stronger buffer state
>>3042355
Because it was created by agents of the British intelligence and French generals specifically to function as an eastern bulwark against Germany, that was its entire purpose.
>>3042361
Why was it kept around in the Cold War era and not broken up then?
So, I'm quite interested in History of Protestantism, although I'm not protestant myself.
About Martin Luther's writings...
Where one should start with Luther's works? Which are the best translations?
Are there any commented edition of the 95 theses?
>>3042285
The 95 theses are rather boring. Nothing about them is particularly edgy.
The tl;dr is that Luther stumbled dick-first into the reformation, so it was probably the result of other internal conflicts.
